    You are so right on so many points. It's definitely a whole other hobby. And you seem to have found some great resources early.

    One of the little modification 3D printed sets i purchased was to modify a NASCAR Camaro into the Garage 56 entry into the 2023 LeMans race. This was nice as it was reasonable priced and i could then just use a readily available kit when i decide to build it without someone spending a fortune on molds for the handful of pieces needed. I can see many uses for the 3D printer but i think i will still just pay someone else to do the printing. I also don't need to risk exposing myself to more chemicals that i may become sensitive too later on.

    Frank, I don't have the Space, time, or the finances to get into 3D printing my own parts but I'm looking forward to following you on your 3D printing journey.😃

    As luck would have it, my local public library (in a town with multiple 4 year colleges nearby) has 3D printers, and they have a brief tutorial to get you started. It's also .... FREE !!
    Not just the tutorial, but also the use of printers and the raw material to make the object you are printing.
    (how they got that past the County and State governmental budget people IDK, but I'm not going to ask 😉 )
    I've only used it a couple of times so far, and not for making model cars. But if you can do the math to convert the object's software file to print it in the scale you want made, it's relatively easy to do. I would never become a software writer, but taking a pre-written software file and getting it to print doesn't require a college degree.
    I will watch your channel for more 3D printing knowledge, Frank. I also watch James Testor's channel. This new technology could become very handy to all model builders someday.

    I just got into resin 3d printing. Mostly for model car parts. It was much easier to get started and understand than I figured. The only settings I've experimented was bottom and normal exposure times and normal layer height. Just using the default and recommended settings yielded very good prints. I have the Saturn 4 but really like the multiple exposure feature of the ultra. I haven't watched any of the SS Garage videos. I'll have to give it a look.

    Tis the season! I just picked up my second printer, also a Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra. My first one I bought three years ago a EPAX 3D. and there was not many good files to buy, now it's flooded with them, looking to get going and see your progress!

    I don't understand how anyone could think using any tool is "cheating." 3D printing has opened up the possibilities of building stuff we used to only daydream about, and anyone who's got a problem with that has a lot of personal issues to work through.

    • @FranksModelWorks
      @FranksModelWorks  5 дней назад

      That’s the spirit! I completely agree!

    • @niteowl7710
      @niteowl7710 5 дней назад

      That's simple. The thought process of the "cheating" crowd is wrapped up the whole modelers vs. kit assembler dreck. In the case of 3D printing it's - If you were a *REAL* modeler you would scratch build everything instead of having a machine make it for you. 🙄
