can you play that game alone? looks like a board game and no one I know is into those. When i first heard RPG i got excited thinking it was a steam game or something.
@@The_Reductionist It’s a TTRPG (Tabletop Roleplaying Game), similar to Dungeons & Dragons. It’s intended to be played with a few friends. One person acts as the Game Master who comes up with the story, plays as NPCs, and runs enemies in combat. Everyone else play as Player Characters, the main characters of the story.
@@The_Reductionistplaying a tabletop RPG solo isn't a particularly fun experience for most people. When it comes out you might try asking at a library or game store if there are any local groups.
Honestly words can't express how excited I am for the Cosmere RPG. I have a lot of friends who are super into TTRPGs but aren't into the cosmere so I really hope this will be a chance to introduce them to a world that means so much to me.
I for one am excited for a prose version of White Sands and look forward to updates on that. I know some people are concerned with how many different versions there will be floating around of this particular story. I'm personally not bothered by that but I do have a related concern. I love the graphic audio adaptations of all of the Cosmere books and would love it if the White Sands one could somehow get updated/revised itself to reflect the new canon. I do understand though that such a project might not be feasible.
Ultimately, that will be up to GraphicAudio. They are a publishing company, and choose what they publish, rather than taking direct commissions from authors.
I've read the White Sands version which Brandon used to share as a Word document. Also listened to the Graphic Audio version which seemed to be pretty close to what I remember reading. Will be interesting to see what kind of changes happen for the definitive print version.
So excited about all the things happening. I’m so jazzed for the RPG the secret project Skyward and the picture book. Then you give me white sands too. I feel like we’re the luckiest fans out there. Thanks Brando Dan Brotherwise and all the cool team members we’ve been meeting on the kickstarter.
I wish the Kickstarter wasn't so ridiculously expensive. I can buy the entire set of published cosmere books on kindle for the same price of the pdfs of the Kickstarter books required to GM.
So excited about White Sand cannon prose version. For those who haven''t read the prose "draft", even that version is great. Kenton and Khriss are amazing characters
I was in Tampa Bay in 2023 on Saturday and we were at the door closest to the booth then they told us those doors wouldn't open so we moved to the farthest doors and both doors opened at 9 am. There was a massive stampede to Brandon's booth and we couldn't get tickets. 80% of the tickets were picked up by VIPs at 8:30 am and there were a few left. The online way is much better and you don't have to be super early to the con.
I agree online is probably better! I was at Tampa on that Friday, and the rest of the con goers had no clue what was happening. It’s just safer for everyone this way. 😅
I'm so excited for a novel version of White Sand. That's one of the few Sanderson stories I haven't read because I can't stand graphic novels, but I loved the excerpt in Arcanum Unbounded. Can't wait to read it!
I'm really interested in the Definitive White Sand prose. I wonder if there will be new stuff added, perhaps more about the Dark Side of Taldain that we never learned about.
I have a cool idea! I know it isn't likely to happen/be seen by the team, but with the popularity of Sanderson, Dragonsteel could do a hugely successful charity raffle (at FanX, another con, as a separate event at Dragonsteel Nexus with public access or access if you buy a raffle ticket, as it's own event, etc) with any number of things (from traditional books and leather bounds, to merch and clothing, to games and minis, heck, maybe even Dragonsteel Nexus tickets (at least for future years when they inevitably sell out again --I doubt even Dragonsteel could get their tickets at this point) and raise a ton of charity funds. Just a thought, but I thought it was cool!
Thanks for your suggestion! Lightweaver (Brandon's charitable organization) has done and continues to do many different events to raise money to help Feed Bodies, Fill Minds, and Fuel Hope. As to your direct suggestion, raffles are illegal in the state of Utah, and so cannot be used as a method, but charity auctions and other events similar in nature to the idea of a raffle have been used in the past and will be used in the future!
@@DragonsteelMichael Oh cool! I've not seen them pop up in the newsletter in my email, so I didn't know--I've bought the ornaments every year, but haven't seen a lot else. Is there another newsletter or something I should sign up for for the Lightweaver Foundation? Also, I thought they were only illegal if entry to the raffle required payment, as long as buying tickets is considered a donation, because that's how the Angelman Syndrome Foundation and Dr. Horrible's Sing along blog have done it. Has that changed? Also, sorry for the long texts. I'm bad at concise questions. Thanks for the response and the explanation!
Couple comments to this video: 1: 1 really love how well the rpg is doing, but for someone like me who has no one to play it with it's very expensive to back just for the lore in the books without any idea of how important it is. It's kind of disappointing in that way, but I hope those who can play have lots of fun. 2: I would love it if you'd come to Ohio for a signing. I'm sure there's lots of people out East who haven't been able to go to anything more out West.
KInd of wish they kept the old system for signings. I work in forestry, outside of cell reception, and a mid-day ticket release is inaccessible to me. I expect they'll be sold out by the time I get home.
Can't wait to be able to play Cosmere series as a Cosmere RPG. This is the next best thing to Cosmere being adopted into a video game. And given the amount of backing, this is more than withing the realm of possibility.
I was looking at the signing reservations for fanx and they were all unavailable and I was afraid I missed it. Super stoked to know there's still a chance. Update: there is no longer a chance, but there is a traditional signing reservation with my name on it.
FYI, anyone that wants a book signed at FanX needs to show up first thing as early as possible the morning of the signing. They give out tickets and then you'll need to come back later on in the evening. I didn't know that the first day 2 years ago and it was very frustrating for me, but came back the next morning to get my ticket.
Things have changed this year! No need to rush the booth any more. :_) As Brandon discusses in this update, things have changed, and FanX will be managing the free signing tickets. See the links in the description for more information after you watch the update.
The longer the leatherbounds arent announced the longer I’m in need of new books. I dont want to start my stormlight experience till I get those beautiful books! I have read mistborn era 1 warbreaker and mistborn secret history. Whats next while I wait?
Elantris is a logical place to go next if you don't want to go to Stormlight yet. They've been doing the leatherbounds at the 10 year anniversary of the books, so you'll be waiting for a long long time if you plan to make your initial readthrough through them.
Does anyone know possibly when Stormlight 5 will be available to pre order on the Dragonsteel site? I am UK based but really want to get the TOR published cover to match my other books instead of the Gollancz UK version 😭
Regardless of White Sand prose, I hope the potential sequel is done as a graphic novel still so my White Sand Omnibus doesn’t look out of place on my SanderShelf.
@@DragonsteelMichael Well there was an error on the sight and I was 1 minute late and they are all sold out for traditional so probably not :( Maybe next ime

Will the booth be selling books? I havent read any Sanderson before, and I saw that Mistborn is a recommended first read, and would love to purchase there with a signature.
I have been to Dragonsteel and a separate con he was at, and I will say that he has a much more “open” schedule at the other cons. You’ll see him at Dragonsteel, but one-on-one time outside a signing ticket or charity Magic game is pretty rare.
Because it will not be substantively different than the final revised book (as Way of Kings was), if Brandon's publishes a revised White Sand prose, no White Sand Prime will be printed, no.
I'd really like to know if there's a plan to translate the Cosmere RPG in other languages, I'd like to buy it in Italian but if a translated version will never come out I'll just buy the English version
From the FAQ: "While we working with multiple language partners right now to offer localized versions of the Cosmere RPG books in multiple language, the physical books shipping for this campaign will ALL be in English." Please note that while Dragonsteel is partnered on this project, the campaign itself is run by Brotherwise Games, and they are the ones developing and publishing the game. For specifics of this nature, they will have more information than anyone from Dragonsteel!
There are no plans to restock this title, as we are limited to what Brandon is able to make time to sign. That being said, if pre-orders are canceled for one reason or another, there is a chance that a limited number of these books will be placed back on the store after all pre-orders are fulfilled.

For Dragonsteel, I assume it's essentially a good platform for pre-orders. Then they can line everything up ahead of time with expected warehouse space needs, shipping demands, finding printers that can handle a fixed demand, etc. I get the feeling it's less about funding ahead of time and more about handling logistics on a platform that already exists.
