Hi Alisha thank you so much for such educative video. Is there any difference in the expressions "I should've known better" and "If I had known about it" ?
I should've known better means something like "I had to know better" or "It was my responsibility to know more about it." And "If I had known about it" Is something like "If I knew more about this situation"
Hi Alisha! I am from Rio de Janeiro. The sentence I did not understand the meaning of I had been studying. Did the action end? My english is advanced but i did not understand very how to use past perfect progressive
Thank you for this great illustration

Hi Guys. can you help me with intensifiers. I am confused about where do I put it for example
I really like you.
I really did like you.
I did really like you.
thank you.
The first is right.
Hello! In this case the correct option is the first one. Remember that "did" is already conjugated in past tense.
can you make 1 more video on past perfect with more examples or broadly
*I wouldn't let an opportunity slipp If I had had one.*
Is that right teacher?
Te amo Alisha!
thank you somach‼️
Arigato !!
please can we explain the other tense. Thanks teacher
We had played video games.
Is it correct?
If yes, then it's not showing two past action.
can I say 'When I got my current job, I had been living N.Y for 4 years.' why or why not. if yes, what is the difference between I had lived N.Y for 4 years and I had been living N.Y for 4 years. Thanks. can someone help me to explain this . thankss
"Could English be made much more easier?" Holy Moley Past Perfect!!!
How sweet
GOOD MOVIE
Hiii
I don't understand what is the difference between Past Perfect Progressive and Past Peogressive. What is the difference: I had been studying for an hour when my mom got home, and I was studying for an hour when my mom got home?
past perfect - finished /completed situation in the past than past perfect progressive - maintenance the intercepted/interaction/disturbed someone in the past (when you were in the current situation in the past)
Well, basically, in that particular case you use past perfect when there is a long and continuous action occurring in the past which has been suddenly interrupted by a shorter one with no specific period of time. Ex: I was studying when my mom got home (the action of being studying was interrupted by mother's arrival but it's not clear when it happened) and you use past perfect progressive when there is a continuous action occurring in the past but it is not interrupted by another action because the former stops before the latter begins, and the period of time it is specified. Ex: I had been studying for an hour when my mom got home (I started studying one hour before my mom got home and i continued studying after that)
I had been trying to contact you since one hour when you called.
He was pointing me something above my head when my phone rang. Have a good day.
In the first sentence: You are focused on what you were doing during that 1 hour.
However, in the last sentence you are focused on what you were doing when your mom got home.
Example of past perfect:
I had been searching about English videos, then I found this video.
You're so beautiful. I couldn't focus on the lesson 😭🤍
thank you my lover
Hii maam
He had had a car for 5 years before i bought it
He had a car for 5 years before i bought it
He had used his for 5 years before i bought it
He had been using his car for 5 years when i bought it
Which is most suitable?
i think the last one is the most suitable
The last one is the most appropriate. 😉
Dear teacher Alisha, why in 9:43 you said "When we got home, we found out we didn't have our keys" instead of "When we HAD GOTTEN home, we found out we didn't have our keys"?
Wow
You look nice and pretty in black
Bla, Bla, bla , I love it
❤
aka the pluperfect tense :-)
9:16 why can't you say "We were exhausted because we worked all night"? isn't the same thing?
Fast comant
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
💖💖💖
In the sentence, I hadn't contacted you for a week, but I had invited you to join me in front of the Sailor hugging and kissing his wife statue at the San Diego Bay by Broadway Blvd beside the US navy platform museum. I be there waiting for you for a entire week 5 pm-7pm on December 20 thru 25 only. Love ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤
