As a student studying in the English field and getting ready to study English Literature and Language at university, I can't express how helpful and brief this video is. From the perfect and simple way of speaking to basic examples we can remember from every moment in our lives, this video is what every English learner has to watch at least three times as a tutor and reminder to perfect the grammar. Let me thank you kindly for your amazing help.
Agree with you. I'm Russian. I learn English from zero and I understand her speech very well. Our teacher advised to listen to native speakers as much as we can.
This type of explaining is perfect for me. I like very much when one compares many things at the same time. There are many good teachers on RUclips, but Alisha is my favorite one, she always explains in so understandable and posite manner. And one could see, that she truly loves what she does, and has a wish to share her knowledges with others. Thank you very much for you work!
i love how do you explain the things into detail, which it is really easy to understanding for someone who doesn't understand the grammar yet like me (but now i understand it cause of you), thank you so much for teaching us, you're the best
It's these kinds of videos that have made me a strong supporter of the "flip the classroom" structure - it really does seem a lot easier to learn things at a quick pace if you are allowed to practise the material at home during video lectures, and then use the school classes as a way to ask the teacher about things that you find hard.
I'm so much obsessed with learning English since my childhood. and this is a excellent lecture for me about English tenses, this video is found very useful for me to understand these tenses in such a easy way.😀😀😀 I'm so much excited to finish all your lessons and vlog about English lessons on RUclips.
Seven years I leaned English in Middle school and Hight school but I didn’t understand the tenses. With 20 minutes I learned more alot of things. Thank you!
this is really helpful, I've always spoken in english but i 've been living in France since birth but I'm finally moving to the Uk and I needed to learn English Grammar
Make sure you are capitalizing the word "I". A comma after "mins". Also, "mins" is a shortening of "minutes", which is a PLURAL, not a possessive, so there should not be an apostrophe.
-Present Simple: I thank you for the explanation. -Present Continuous: I am thanking you for the explanation. -Present Perfect: I have never thanked you for the explanation. -Present Perfect Continuous: I have been thanking you for minutes. -Past Simple: I thanked you for the explanation. -Past Continuous: I was thanking you for the explanation yesterday. -Past Perfect: (?) I had typed my comment for the explanation when I saw you finished your session. -Past Perfect Continuous: I had been thanking you since minutes ago. -Future Simple: I will thank you for the explanation. -Future Continuous: I am going to be thanking you for the explanation. -Future Perfect: I will have thanked you for the explanation for few minutes. -Future Perfect Continuous: (?) I will have been thanking you for minutes. (?) : Should I really use that tense?
can someone help me with all the other names for the tenses? "Will Future" is "Future Simple", right? And "past continuous" is "past progressive"? Which one is "going to Future"? Is it Future perfect? And what about the others? Thanks!
@@OxysLokiMoros going to is actually present continuos but it can be used for near future as well.. but it cant be called future continuous as far as i know
I have been watching your videos for a longer period of time. After a long period of time, I am able to teach English to others as well. Thanks for your channel! Highly recommended! Thanks Alisha!
Good explanations, concise but English learners would have to explore this a lot more - it's a quick introduction and overview. . English verbs for the most part don't have "tenses" on their own, they have modifiers like will, shall, was, had, have, did, didn't etc. but understanding how we construct present, past, future, as described, and breaking down these three tenses into the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous is a relatively new way of learning English verbal grammar. When I was a boy (70 yrs ago) much English grammar was taught as if English were Latin, it was boring, difficult and for the most part, plain wrong. I think it's true too that many English speaking people are not taught grammar very well at school, if at all. It's one of the reasons English speakers find learning a foreign language difficult. . Just one point, the past continuous would most often be used for a continuous action in the past which is then interrupted by another action, which would use the simple past. e.g. I was walking the dog, when he saw a cat and tried to chase it, or he was playing football when he tripped up and wrenched his knee. The use of the past perfect would apply when the first action was completed when you describe the following action or event. e.g. I had finished my dinner when the doorbell rang. or I had promised to go to the party, but I got a cold and couldn't go. So a good start for English learners, but you'd need to study each tense more thoroughly, with lots more examples.
Hey Teacher , how are you doing? My name's Cicero, I am an English teacher in Brazil. I work for an language school from Boston, U.S. teaching online classes, but I I'm not a native speaker. I really appreciate your way of teaching English, I also teach Portuguese, please.

15:38 let me answer your question (where do you see yourself in 2020) I'm coming from the future... You'll have seen yourself in quarantine🐸💔 Don't thank me please🌚
Past perfect why did she use the sentence 'at a nonspecific point'? I think at specific point because she mentioned the time like she said 'when delivery came'. Please tell me〜
Mmm, can someone explain me a little bit more about Past? Can I use Past Simple without specific time? I assume it can be used if the specific time is clear in the situation, but I still don't quite get the difference between Past Simple and Past Perfect (in meaning of using without specific time) I understand that I can use Past Simple with specific time. Plus, I understand how to use Past Perfect to show the "earlier action in the past" etc. However, the thing about specific time is still not clear for me. For example, I had taken my lunch break when I saw the delivery man came. ( - This is understandable) - But what if there's no specific time? Should I just say "I had taken my lunch break" (as there no specific time) ? - Then what if there's specific time? Should I just say "I took my lunch break at 12:30 p.m." ? -What if I say "I took my lunch break" Will it be incorrect because there's no specific time? -But if I say "I took my lunch break", however, the situation is clear from the previous sentences, in this example will it be correct? Anyway, I will take my exams soon, hence, if there would be a task with a situation about Past, without specif time, clear information, context...should I just use Past Perfect? I just hadn't heard the use of Past Perfect so much, so that's why I'm wondering how I am supposed to use it. Hope that someone will clear it up for me.
i have been using past continuous since i have started playing among us both are actions started in the past and continue in the present,, i don't know if you're still playing among us and using past continuous , but that's what i'm guessing , things change if that's not true
I learned English by playing games watching movies and tv series even though I can completely understand I sometimes had problems to get what I mean trough to people or get perfect mark on my exams this video helped thanks a lot
If we can use Past Perfect with sentences that has no specific time, then what's the difference between Past Perfect and Present Perfect in this case? For instance, what should I say? "I had watched the movie" (as there no specific time?) or "I have watched the movie" (experience?) Hope someone will clear it up for me. Thanks in advance! After videos like this, it feels that I only confuse myself even more and more ;/
In the past perfect, "I had watched he movie" you are referring to a point in past. That is, there was a time in past before which you've watched the movie. It would be better to add a past simple at the end to complete it eg. "I had watched the movie, by the time". In "I have watched the movie", you are stating in the 'present', that you have watched it.
Thanks a lot. This is really helpful for many people. İ proud of myself, because i start to understand grammar in the english language. But i need try to use it when i write in the english or speak.

thanks for your video! one question, just from this video alone, i couldn't tell the difference between future perfect and future perfect continous. does that mean the action of a sentence in future perfect is going to be done (like they will have lived for 2 years in China and then move somewhere else) and the one in future perfect continous will be continuing? to me, it sounds as if both were to continue and then i wouldn't know which one to use...
