    Hey Sam
I really like the new Young Scum- the LP should arrive soon!
I also have the 2-disc Galaxie 500 outtakes and rarities collection on the way.
    Cheers. Matt

    Born Horses is so great.
"Unlike anything else" really is rarer and rarer and ought to be celebrated. People are really sleeping on this album. It's grandiose and over the top, but their music has *always* been grandiose. This is just a different iteration and honestly, I think this will be revisited later by many with different ears and it will be reevaluated. Great album.

Sam, oh wow definitely different Mercury Rev Boces is only album I was even barely familiar with. And that was because of the cover. Lol. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman

Hey Zonkman. Yeah, they left that Boces sound behind pretty quickly after. Great cover to be sure. Thanks for hanging. Cheers!

I remember Deserters Songs was my favorite album of 1998 & the same Producer did The Soft Bulletin my favorite album of 1999. Glad you enjoy Sungaze. Love the roll-out for the new Cure album. Cryptic announcements on Friday The 13th about November 1st. Hope it's a great farewell for Robert.

I was also a big fan of both of those albums back then. Robert will get that album out one of these years. Cheers!

I saw Mercury Rev in 2005 live. Was a wall of sound and layers. Was impressed. 'Boces' is my favorite album from them. They should work with Tim Burton to do his movie sound track. It is IMHO perfect music for a Burton Movie.

Yeah, love Boces as well. Just listened to that a couple months ago for the first time in a while. Cheers!

I confess that I actually liked the Mercury Rev needle drop.

It’s gotten some good reviews - I could be in the minority. I also think the samples here maybe aren’t representative of the album on a whole. Cheers!

For me, I just always go to Deserter's Song and All is Dream and just hang out there at this point.

If David Ellis recommends an album then I am all in, Young Scum quite good, worth long into. My wife, who has never watched you or any other channel dealing with music liked the sound of Young Scum which shocked me. Since we watched this together I offered her a meat stick, trying to be friendly but she said no. Her loss.

It’s hard to believe your wife could turn down your meat stick offer. A truly generous offer on your part, in my opinion. I’m glad she enjoyed the Young Scum. Cheers!

Back in the early 90s when I first started working, I would occasionally get a lift from a co-worker while my car was being serviced, I recall him being really into Mercury Rev back then and speaking of seeing them live. He was really more a punk guy, whereas I was more 90s grunge dude. I always thought Mercury Rev was a great band name, but in listening to them, they just weren't my jam. I'm now much older and more open to various styles; finding something to appreciate. With this mindset, I listened to Born Horses and was struck with the thought "hmm, they should have reached out to William Shatner". I even liked the aesthetics of the album cover and font (which you alluded to in your way) but it's a big NOPE for me. That said, everything else you featured was very interesting and now resides on my phone as part of my weekly new music consumption. I do have an issue with some dream pop / shoegaze when it gets too murky, but I think this Sungaze material will make the cut. Cheers!

Yeah, I have seen some positive reviews (mainly out of the UK, I think) for Born Horses - so it might just be one where opinion is a bit polarized. Glad you have found some to add to your listening “stack”. Thanks for hanging out. Cheers!

Almost a negative review on an IDP! Usually those are reserved for Snobisodes. The new Mercury Rev is not for me. I don’t even think it’s that strange or out there. That spoken word is bad, though. David coming through with a strong recommendation. The Sam Darnold Era has begun. I’m sure you’re excited for it. Cheers ✌🏻

Yeah, I usually try to be more diplomatic or veil my negativity. I actually was going to cut that one out but figured, what the hell. Plus, I had already cut another album this week. I’ve already booked my hotel for the Sam Darnold MVP Super Bowl game in New Orleans. I was pretty lucky to still be able to find some vacancies. Cheers!

Seems to be a polarizing album, to be sure. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
