Khary Payton is THE voice of Cyborg in my opinion. That's why I was surprised to find out that they got him voicing practically every other black male character in Young Justice except for Cyborg. Zeno Robinson is the voice of Cyborg in Young Justice, and he's done a great job; but it's still weird not hearing Khary Payton's voice come out of Cyborg's mouth in that show.
Well… unfortunately, unlike some other DC characters, he doesn’t have a whole lot of solo stories to show more about the character or show antagonists he has personal connections to. So… you would think that would mean that he is a blank slate. However… no one seems to be able to give him a good solo story. BUT, he does play extremely well as a team member, MAINLY on the Teen Titans, NOT the Justice League. The fact that he was ever retconned to be a Justice League character instead of a Teen Titans member was a TRAVESTY, because he was a core member of the Teen Titans for years, and was the leader of the team as well.
@@thebandwagonfanpodcast Which part? Returning him to where he belongs as a front runner of the Teen Titans or giving him solo stories? I think I could go without seeming him as a solo character and would rather see more of him a leader to the next generation of heroes.
@Paul Green both. DC has the whole omniverse thing going so they might as well utilize it. They have a million Bat books, a couple Cyborg won't hurt. Haha.
@@thebandwagonfanpodcast You do know the problem with the omniverse right? The whole thing that every comic book RUclipsr has made the point to talk about? If everything matters and is canon, nothing matters and nothing is canon. The great thing about continuity is that things have leave their affect on the world at large, especially when good writers and good editors take the time to make sure that things are well kept, like a chef in the kitchen, balancing out spices and ingredients in whatever he’s cooking to make sure everything works together to make one amazing bite. But too much of one spice or ingredient, and the others are lost a lot of the time. With the new omniverse, it’s basically their “Get Out of Hell Free” card, because from now on, when a fan says, “Well why didn’t this happen?” They can just just point metaphorically at the word “omniverse”, and say, “Well, it did! Out in the O-M-N-I-V-E-R-S-E!” It will have worse effect than anything. Every world should have a continuity. The main world has had a type of continuity for years. Cyborg being a part of the Teen Titans and becoming a part of the Justice League once he became older, as most heroes do, would make sense, especially if he did something a la Young Justice, where Kaldur/Dick/M’gann work as members of the League and as the Team to help both teams work together towards the same goal. Cyborg would be an excellent man in the chair for the entire League, while also being a mission coordinator for the next generations of Teen Titans, and leader of them at times as well. I personally am writing my own version of the DC Universe, believe me, I have put lots of time and thought into this. Every character I bring in has to be important, and have a role to play that leaves an impact on other characters or the world at large, or else nothing they did mattered. Cyborg is a great character, but as a solo character, I don’t find him to be very appealing, because where he thrives, is in his relationships with other characters, the thing that made he and Beast Boy so popular in the animated show.
Ray’s take on Vic in the Snyder Cut is my personal favorite. Such a beautiful and well-acted performance. My favorite aspect was how Snyder and Terrio asked for and were open to Ray giving notes and ideas on Vic’s character and the Stones, specifically from the lense of a black man (since they obviously don’t *really* know what it’s like to be a black man). Stuff like that is crucial and shows in the movie with how careful his arc and story was handled. He really is the best part of the movie and is without a doubt the heart of it all.
@@6scar911 such a shame we won’t get more of Cyborg. The original DCEU slate was stacked with the directors they had helming them. He would’ve had his own solo movie and a supporting role in The Flash with a dope concept by Rick Famuyiwa. It’s heartbreaking that the thing keeping something as great as that is WB executives not having the decency to apologize for the horrible stuff they let slide on the JL reshoots
My favorite version of Cyborg is the one from the Doom Patrol TV series, where he is a well-liked superhero, but he still has insecurities, and he feels like he is just a servant for Star Labs.
I smoke weed everyday so I decided to make my very expensive habit into something productive so i smoke weed on my RUclips channel to make some money back 😎🏆
The Doom Patrol version was also super interesting. He works well as a foil to Cyborg. What's worse than your nemesis literally being inside your mind? I think they could make a whole movie out of Cyborg vs. Grid if they wanted to. Especially with Ray Fisher's comments at a convention where he was talking about how everyone's plugged in nowadays and they could take Cyborg to some interesting places by exploring that. And Grid could exploit that to up the stakes. Imagine a sentient computer virus or A.I. living inside one of the world's most powerful heroes with access to stuff like nuclear launch codes or the power to manipulate the entire world's economy. Of course, being made of Apokoliptian tech in the modern version of the character, I suppose Grid would also be made up of Mother Box (or Father Box in the comics) stuff and that'd really up the stakes. Only Cyborg would really know how to counter such a system.
Love this episode, great job as ALWAYS Arris. Cyborg has been getting such love for the past 20 years and what a way to pay tribute in black history month to one of the best in comics history thanks Variant 🙏. And I wonder what Tim and Arris would look like as alternate versions of themselves in their most favorite universes of DC, Marvel, Dark horse, image AND astonishing times 🔥
I wish he had more solo adventures. He has one of the greatest potential to become the strongest Justice League member. If he was able to use the Mother Box he's merged to at it's fullest extent, he could give the Big 3 a run for their money.
More than anything, ZSJL left me wanting a Cyborg film. Ray Fisher getting his own movie and dealing with the weight of such technological power in the modern world (and doing more stuff like he did for that evicted mother) would be a dream.
DC Comics really should do more with the Justice Titans. Those are some awesome characters. Star Canary. Night Lantern. AquaBorg, etal. What more could you ask for?
I like how their version of the Flash is just the Flash. It makes sense for an amalgamation of Barry Allen and Wally West (though I guess to that effect, they could've merged Aqualad with Aquaman and Nightwing with Batman).
Sarah Charles is mentioned in the video, but it's not mentioned that she was a love interest to him in the comics. Sadly, Cyborg's love life is sorely underdeveloped. He's often treated more like a team-up character than a hero in his own right and hardly gets the level of attention his comrades do. As for sidekicks, the closest I think he's come is having worked with a variant of Cyborgirl once (who was literally named 'Variant'). But it'd be cool if he had a proper pupil of sorts. Some people have called Cyborg a sidekick, himself, but that's just flat-out wrong. Despite being a teenager when he started, he's a self-made superhero (much like Spider-Man) and always has been. Ray Fisher even says as much and the Tiny Titans version takes pride in this fact. But it'd be really interesting if he had his own sidekick and could pass on the wisdom of having been an independent teen hero and all. Maybe it could be a kid with a prosthetic limb or something who looks up to Cyborg and they could have their own powers.
He's an amazing character and does such a great job of rallying everyone together and coordinating them in a way only he knows how to. He's also got such a big heart and it's great to see him finally getting recognition for it, though I hope he gets much, much more. He deserves the same level of attention and success his teammates get.
CMON just released some info today that Dark Knights Metal characters, including Murder Machine, will be available to play in Zombicide 2nd Edition later this year. Even if you don't want to play Zombicide, they're all 28mm scale, so should work with other games if that's what you want to use them for. They said closer to the end of the year for availability at retail stores.
This is the single most underused, underdeveloped comic book character of all time in my opinion. He could easily be one of the most iconic DC heroes (the holy 3) but he's not. Vash the stampede is a good example of what could be done with a cyborg. As is the movie Transcendence. We are not exercising the greatness that is Victor Stone the living techno god. Snyder came the closets to unlocking it. Maybe one day I'll do a re-write.
I feel like this video released because of the Cyborg looking fellow in the MoM trailer, the Captain Marvel/Iron Man/Kang mashup. Someone freeframed that closeup and it looks like Cyborg!
If anyone's interested Comic Tropes just uploaded a video on the career of Cyborg co-creator George Perez, who also co-created Deathstroke and is best known as being the artist on the epic Crisis On Infinite Earths.
It's too bad because he's always seen as just a team-up character, but deserves the same amount of success that his teammates have, with his own supporting cast, "super family," rogues gallery, etc. He does have little bits of each, but they hardly get a chance to grow and be acknowledged by mainstream audiences.
Are you going to do alternate versions of DC's Darkseid, Dr Light, Firestorm and Starman along with Marvel's White Tiger, Nova, Mr Fantastic,Human Torch and the Fantastic Four next?
@@nickolaibernar16 - They are (and I'd recommend The Imaginary Axis' video on him for anyone interested), but those parts/fractions could still be considered alternate versions. Kind of like the different aspects of Dream of the Endless in The Sandman: Overture. Ultimately the same being, but with a lot of variations and even independent thoughts and ideas.
You missed the Crime Syndicate version of cyborg, called G.R.I.D., who is a sentient virus that took over Cyborgs cybernetic prosthesis and became a physical being that eventually joined the Crime Syndicate.

Can you do history of the Blackhawks, Rocket Red Brigade, Blue_Beetle, Mr Terrific and Plastic Man along with the history of the Villains Dr Alchemy and Abracadabra?

Minor nitpick: it should be Prime Earth, not Earth-Prime. Earth-Prime is the universe Superboy-Prime is from, which is meant to be a reflection of the real world (Post-Flashpoint, its multiversal designation is Earth-33). The naming on those two is pretty confusing, so I can see why it's such a common mistake. Of course, if we're getting real technical, the universe was called Earth-One in 1980, when Cyborg debuted, and became New Earth six years later, which it remained until it became Prime Earth in 2011. But Prime Earth and New Earth are technically the same universe, just with their histories rewritten for a time (as depicted in not only the same Flash who caused and undid Flashpoint being shown in the Batcave at the end, but also the two versions of Superman merging in Superman Reborn, since they were technically the same one). To keep it simple, I usually just refer to the mainstream universe as "Earth-0." That aside, Cyborg is an incredible character and I'm glad to see him being done justice like he has in recent years (aside from the Injustice version, but the same can be said for most of those versions of the characters). I wish he'd receive even a fraction of the mainstream attention Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man get and transcend only being regarded as a team-up character. He deserves his own movies, comics, games, and so on (he has had his own comic a few times, but they almost always end up being cancelled not long into them). I feel it's also worth noting that Sarah Charles was a love interest of Victor in the comics. Unfortunately, Cyborg doesn't really get a lot of attention in the realm of romance in the comics or elsewhere (though the Doom Patrol was a welcome exception), which I feel is often the case when it comes to black superheroes (such as War Machine, whose only love interest that most people are aware of was Captain Marvel and he was killed off to drum up drama for her), especially when they're mostly known for being team players instead of standalone figures. Unrelated, but I'm digging the term "comic comrades."

That aside, Cyborg is an incredible character and I'm glad to see him being done justice like he has in recent years (aside from the Injustice version, but the same can be said for most of those versions of the characters).
