i almost bought a rug just like this in morocco a month ago! it was so soft but i couldn’t afford it. when i saw this insta post i got so excited. the rug i wanted was black and white and everything
joannahami this is WHOLESOME. MAKE THAT RUG. YOU DESERVE IT.
joannahami how much was the one in morocco?
latch-hook kit is very smilar. I suggest you use the same materials. Buy a hook and learn to latch hook. That is how you make rugs. Pre cut your yarn all at once. Simply wrap it around cardboard to your desired lengh. Cut the ends. Really easy. That will save you lots of time too. Simply organize your cut pieces of yarn into piles by sorting your colors. By doing all this, your next rug will be easier to make. Tweek this project to make your life easeir. Also, if you pre cut the yarn, then their is no triming needed at the end. I love your idea! Will have to latch hook using the chicken wire. Ive have been doing latch hook kits since I was a kid. You can also make wall hangings too. You can make latch-hook pillows. Endless options!!! :)
I came down here to say this!
This needs to be higher in the comments
You guys are on fire I love this new schedule. Can't remember when I started watching your vids but it seems like for ever (probably the black swan costume I think !) so glad to have witness your channel's journey. Keep sharing girls it does some good to the internet world. Love from France !
Delphine A. THANK. YOU. we do what we do for you guys!! ❤️❤️ (okay we don’t mind it either)
If you're doing a bath mat size rug, you could also get no-slip shelf liner from the dollar store!!
This is exactly what I was thinking!
Definitely a labor of love! I just did a macrame light cord that took my a span of three days - loved this ladies, killing it per usual.
I swear I looked up how to diy a rug YESTERDAY and didn’t find anything good and now you upload this amazing video!😍🙏🏻thank youu
Next video diy mind reading?? lol
Yup. Never had rugs in my house growing up but I did grow up in an Asian household. I've been wanting rugs recently though! Super cute DIY! Love you guys!
Iv actually wanted to try making a rug! They’re so expensive! I have a lot of floor space in my dorm and it gets so cold! This is awesome!
A latch hook or a crochet needle would help pull the yarn through the chicken wire if people are having a tough time with that. Also if anyone is confused on what type of yarn to use or how to find it, it's typically called chunky yarn in stores! :D
Veronica Brown I find they took something simple like rug hooking and made it so complicated lol
Still cute though!
Hi Veronica, you seem like you know how to do this pretty well, do you think it'd look as good if not every square was tied with yarn? Or with a smaller yarn, like size 6. I want to try this but such chunky yarn is pricey compared to the short length of the skeins they come in ( as you probably know).
You guys are AMAZING 😱 the rug looks better than the real ones! When you make a video I know it's going to be a REAL and USEFUL diy (not sticking stickers on a phone case) which is why I love you guys so much!!! 😍😍😍
Omg Kelsey I love your top!!!!!
I have a suggestion. Could you guys try to dupe your favourite items of clothing that you have in your wardrobe?? Idk I just think that would be cool! 😍💛💛
THRIFT STORE ADDITION love it
Yes!
@@graceogden8459 Edition?
Thanks for 3 videos a week!!!!
Michelle Sanguineti thanks for watching all our vids!! 4 if you count the vlog channel ;)
OMG you guys, I'm totally obsessed with rugs lately but since we have two dogs and no vacuum I thought it's impossible. Then I realized that I need to get a cotton rug so I can wash it in the laundry machine, but I realized that the size that I needed is so tucking expensive that I almost gave up the idea, unless I'll be able to make one on my own- and then this video!!!! My God it was a damn long story just to say that you are my DIY godess!
You guys are so cool! I love how you can turn anything into something that look extremely professional and expensive! So inspired!
Oh, ladies. Use a latch-hook! It would have saved you about 30 years.
Melissa Sletto 😂😂
I was completely thinking that latch-work rugs are a thing and that the hook is so much easier than manually threading it. Not to detract from their idea, cuz it's still amazing!!! :D But I felt bad that they didn't have that tool to help speed it along for them.
Would the chunky yarn fit tho in the tool tho? Or do they make bigger ones? I need answers lol
Mikala H i think they have bigger latch tools online
You need a latch hook

Nicest diy rug I have seen till now. Awesome! Totally doing this in my spare hours. Thanks so much you both! ☺️
In the early 90's my sister was big into latch hooking. (I did a smaller one too when I was a kid); If you want to make a rug, look into that. You can blend it with what they are doing here and save time on knots and have a fuller rug.
Loving these videos and the vlog channel too 👌🏼 Thrift flip and dollar store challenges are my fav AND the new style series! You girls are killing it! 💕
You guys are so creative! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us!
Did you know you can by rug hooking material for the backing at Mary Maxim in Paris Ont? Also if you wanted to recycle you can use old t-shirts cut in strips and then use a rug hook to do the hooking part. We did this with 4H kids (12-15) and it turned out great.
This would be cool to do to even just hang on the wall like some of the tapestry art from the 70's. Awesome idea!
maybe a good alternative to the sticky rug pad would be those rubbery kitchen drawer linings? I think those go for cheaper!
I love the final rug, it looks so soft!! I think I might make one for my mum later in the year :D thanks for another awesome video!!
Awesome thanks for the new DIY totally going to try it even though it's very very very very time consuming.🤗🤗
Hey girls, love your rug! I just made a rag rug with a piece of cardboard, yarn for my weft (I think that’s what it’s called), and then tee-shirt yarn weaved in between! It turned out great! They do take time though.
I love how genuinely excited they are for this diy it’s just amazing
Both sides of the rug are cool.
You guys are so sweet, love this tutorial.... thanks so much x
This is the cutest! It reminded me so much about a similar project we did back in elementary school.
Such a great DIY! Im definitely going to give this a try, in New Zealand rugs are CRAZY expensive so I'm more than willing to put in time to get a beautiful rug
Yassss!!!I've been wanting a rug so badly but so hard to find the right colour! Now I can just make one 😍
I love how creative this girls are
I've wanted to do this for so long and I'm so excited to do this!
This rug is beautiful! I have a question...what is it like to stand on in bare feet? I'm wondering if you can feel the knots? My mom used to 'hook' rugs but I can't remember how it was done. Thanks so much for sharing and for all the hard work you do for us.
Yay!! I'm glad it was a rug DIY. This is amazing and I'm so stoked for all the upcoming content 😍
Very cool DIY. Some ideas for you would be to use a grided non-slip drawer liner or rug backer instead of the plastic wire, then you maybe wouldn't have to add the non- Slip pad afterwards. You could also use a rug- hook instead of trying knots!
Also, I'm curious if you were inspired by a two row wampum belt? That's what your rug reminded me of, at first.
I’ve been dying for a rug like this!! Such a helpful diy AS ALWAYS 🙌🏼
As always, your DIYs are saving my life (and my wallet). Thank you for another amazing DIY!!
Loved it!!! You guys are very creative!!
It looks very cute and professional!
this was a SUPER cute DIY!
K so I see that little plant by the top corner there and I can’t help but love it! I have this newly renovated bathroom and the wall next to the tub is really missing something. I really want to make a plant wall with more geometric shapes but don’t really know where to start... maybe that can be a future diy tutorial? ;P
Great idea for the rug love it
I wonder if one could make this project using a latch hook approach (you know those little crafts with the plastic mesh and the little latch hook tool that pulls the yarn through the mesh and knots it)? I might try that so it goes faster. :)
You guys work so hard! I love all your videos.
Adding to my list of projects for after grad school! Thanks!
You guys are so talented it’s crazy ❤️
Oh my I love it 😍😍😍
Wow! Definitely going to try this!
Would you be able to wash this and use it as like a bath mat?
For sure doing this !!!
Very cool. Great job.
I really love how creative you guys are! 😊💖💪💃
This has inspired me to make my own rug for my guest bedroom. I need a 6x9 rug and the one I saw (that resembled yours) was a LOT of money. I'm going to make my own...plus I love DIY...I'll tag your instagram when I am finished!
i used to do this all the time as a kid. they sell kits in craft stores
The back of the rug was actually super cute too!
I love it! so how do you clean that rug? can´t wash cause of the wire, so, thats the only inconvenient I found.
you could probably use an old or a cheap yoga mat in place of the sticky rug thingy! you could use some heavy duty glue to glue it to the back, and i think it would make it have a little more grip so it wont fly across your floor and maybe make it more comfortable to step on too!
Soooooo like that carpet art that you can get at Michael’s? My grandma and Mom had me do those as a kid.
You all are so creative!
^^ If you wanted to do this a little less wasteful you can do it with old clothes cut into strips and use the same technique! Such a cute idea, I used to love doing this with clothes that didn't fit anymore 😊
I absolutely love your videos! Your content is way more original and inspiring than other youtubers :)
Namaste....love from India...I love Ur diy video very much..Ur talent is god gifted

Y'all's friendship is so sweet! Can you do a video where you chat about what female friendship means to you? And if you fight and how you resolve it?

So happy about the 3 days upload!😊
I had a textiles class last semester and it made me really wanna make and rug and i was like huh a simple one wouldnt be that hard
I did something like this when I was like around ten, but it wad in the shape of a tiger and a lot smaller. It’s such a great idea!
I am so going to try this
As if anything would be impossible for you guys! Awesome job!!
It's a really pretty rug!
0:09 That look 😂
Saaaaaaaame
This is gorgous!!! Thank you!
What stores can you buy all these supplies from??
Who remembers those yarn art kits from when you were a kid? That's what this reminds me of 😅
This is amazing and I love it 😍, I will be doing this diy for sure
Fran3 San I
Girls this is amazing 😍😍😍😍 but is there a possibility to wash it?
I loooooove the rug! My grandmother made big rugs, they were all over our house. If this one took 12 h, how long did she take??? Maybe 100 times that? What? Love you guys
she probably used the proper tools and materials so it went faster than this but making a huge one would still take quite a while!
Any tips on connecting two rugs together? I'd like to make a large rug, but would be so much easier and more manageable to make several small ones and connect them together.
Wouldn't it have been better to get a latch hooking/rug hooking kit? They have a mesh meant specifically for making rugs, and well, a latch hook which is also specifically for making rugs with yarn.
I appreciate your effort, but you could have made this so much easier/faster for yourselves.
Rex Personthing I agree, I feel like they were trying to reinvent the wheel lol
Where can you get those/what are they?
I see those kits straight from the 70’s at my local goodwill all the time 😂 watching this I’m like they need a needle or something
if they have to buy a pre-made kit to make the item, its not really a true DIY, which is the whole idea behind channel
Elly MacRae you can find the kits second hand and also make them yourself, buy your own yarn and cut it, and buy a mesh to make it. The up side to latch hooking is that it’s 10x easier and faster.
hey where can I purchase a chunky yarn ball like those online (not too expensive thought) ? Thanks a lot !
I want to make this rug but I’m still kinda confused about how to make it do you just keep tying the knot like that on every other row?? You showed doing one knot and speeded through the rest so is it the same or??? Rlly pretty rug thi
Love that rug! ❤️ But which is the video of the metal basket? o:
Omg!! I can’t believe you guys made a rug.. it srsly looks amazing 😍
Have you all ever heard of latchhooking? It’s the same concept, but there’s a tool to make it easier to loop the yarn through the chicken wire.
Boyfriend and I decided to do DIY valentine's day gifts. Starting this rug for him in his Alma mater colors and hoping to have it done in 3 weeks! 🤞🤞
You guys are AMAZING ❤️❤️
where did they get such cheap chunky yarn from?
