  • In the newest Steven Universe episode "Legs from Here to Homeworld", we met White Diamond and found out that Homewold is broken apart! Why is it broken like this? Was this done purposely? The evidence points to yes.
    Does White Diamond power Homeworld, do Diamond's grow bigger over time? All these questions and more are discussed in today's video!

    Hey everyone! Just a reminder to take the poll regarding this video over on my Community Tab on my channel! If you'd like to start a discussion on this theory, comment below! Make sure to be civil with one another while discussing theories!
    *Edit:* A lot of people keep bringing up Amethyst, and how she was smaller because she was overcooked/incubated longer than she should've been. It's important to note that over incubation and being incubated multiple times are two entirely different things, and have two entirely different effects. This video isn't about over incubation. It's about incubating multiple times, not just once (and not for a longer amount of time). These two things are completely different, so Amethyst being overcooked does not disprove this theory.

      I personally like the theory and I find it very believable. However, if the "overcooked" argument doesn't count because this is about being incubated multiple times (and as you mentioned, not for a longer amount of time), then what about the Cluster?

      ...
      ...have you guys noticed the dialogue from both *White Diamond* and her Pearl? White Diamond's may have made her a bit nicer, but not her Pearl's. In fact, if you listen *carefully* to their dialogue, it, more or less, makes them *automated,* almost as if they were, at best, metaphorically *programmed* for their work. And if that's the case, then the *entire* issue of how and why the Gem Homeworld has been broken should actually have *far less* to do with "quality of colonization * number of planets (E=mc2) = quality of Gem size", and *much, much more* to do with exactly how *well* White has adapted to her job as a *Diamond.* If it's true that the Diamond Authority is a matriarchal establishment motivated like some *big game,* then White Diamond has either failed to fulfill her *leadership* role, or succeeded in gaining *points* by number of planets, thus controlling *most* of the *entire cosmos.* However, concerning her dialogue, along with her Pearl's, I don't exactly hear *any other* Diamond talk like some "tool-driven *robot* " (Connie's own words)! *Pink* doesn't talk like White does..., at least when you compare both those Diamonds in terms of use of *emotion.* The Diamond Authority may have cost *massive* habitation in *selection* of such planets for colonization, but that doesn't exactly explain the potential for a *Gem* to literally *grow in size* as a Diamond. In fact, more than *anything else* regarding the Gem Homeworld, destruction of planets due to colonization should explain not only White Diamond's *character,* but an expanding *system* uprooted from the Diamond Authority! Listen again to Yellow's statement on communicating with White:
      "We'll be lucky if [White Diamond] ever *speaks* to us again after this.... When we (Blue, Yellow, and the Crystal Gems) show up in [Pink's Leg] ship, it will be irrefutable that the last 6000 years are now *the biggest galactic embarrassment* that's ever happened, and we [Blue, Yellow, and Pink?] are the ones to blame."
      - Yellow Diamond, "Legs from Here to Homeworld"
      The statement above implies to me that while Blue and Yellow may now be *questioning* their roles as Diamonds, White is not even *aware* of what has happened on planet Earth, because either she *knows* the actual *damage* done with *other* planets, or she's too *focused* on *gaining* planets, and control thereof, that she can't even *tell* how much *habitation* has been *destroyed* on her own account! I can therefore conclude that there's something *extremely* problematic with the system established by the Diamonds - not necessarily the equation in *size,* but the very function in *practice.*

    White Diamond is the ONLY gem that has ever given any gem a nickname hence Starlight for Pink/Steven. I watched a video on this and he said that White D stayed on Homeworld because she was still in denial. Her lifespan is so long she hasn’t gotten over a “death” that happened 5000 years ago. So that’s why she didn’t come to the trial with Rose because she didn’t wanna miss Pink “Come back” and the reason we all get that chill down our backs whenever she talks to Steven is because she’s almost obsessively loving towards Pink

      If Diamonds incubate in different mineral veins than their gems, that would fix the Amethyst plot hole. The diamonds would have access to specific minerals and resources, possibly organic fossil fuel deposits, as all known living species contain some form of carbon atoms, like diamonds. It would be an interesting parallel to humans destroying our own environment by harvesting and overusing our fossil fuels. It might also explain why the planet in jungle moon doesn't look like a completed colony. Yellow could have sucked all the energy from the planet before the colony was completed, leaving no materials behind to give new gems life.

    I used to full heartedly believe this theory, but something Peridot said during the Cluster arc popped into my head. It could just be that Blue and Yellow were made on Homeworld, either at the same time; making them twins, or blue emerged slightly after yellow. Homeworld would’ve been rich with resources at the beginning. Heck, Peridot mentions that the reason she’s not like Era 1 Peridots is because Homeworld is losing resources, thus she is an Era 2 creation. It’s incredible to think that Homeworld STILL has enough resources to make a fully functioning Gem, even though her size is small and powers semi-limited.
    I think the “birth” of Pink Diamond began the second Era of Homeworld. After her, other gems created on Homeworld were much smaller. It could be the reason why Rubies are so small, despite having a warrior status. There seems to be a fair amount of big gems, like Bisumith and Agates. Wouldn’t it make sense for these gems to be warriors over Rubies? Rubies who always need a group in order to go to any form of combat? It’s likely that Era 1 Rubies were big, strong, and capable on their own, but in Era 2, Rubies got smaller. They were still cast as warriors because, well, they’re still Rubies. As for Sapphires, why would you waste extra resources creating a gem who’s sole purpose is to predict the future? Although, that’s really all I can say about them

    • @tanjatv5311
      @tanjatv5311 2 года назад +48

      Great theory, however the timeline is slightly wrong. Pink diamond was born in the era 1 and she CAUSED era 2. Since she started a war and basically won, Earth was an unsuccessful colony and millions of gems were lost, so new gems (like peridot) had to be created on Homeworld. At this point Homeworld was pretty much sucked dry of resources, but still somehow managed to squeeze out new gems, which were severely compromised of their abilities like peridot.
      I know this video is pretty old and the show already concluded, but I am still very interested in the show and I like to debate theories ^-^.

    I personally think that the cut/facet and whatnot of the gem also helps their actual size, seeing as Lapis is taller, like her gem because it's elongated, and then say, Amethyst's is short and stubby like her form. Garnet is a fusion so she is two short gems put into one larger and taller gem. This is just my view. Could be wrong!

    • @atompanax7277
      @atompanax7277 5 лет назад +22

      It is due to the amounts and types of minerals and nutrients around from where they emerged, as Peridot stated. Which is why some of the amethysts from the human zoo were taller and shorter; they emerged in different areas with varying minerals and nutrients. You could argue that yes, those with more and better minerals or nutrients will emerge bigger, which might have occurred when the diamonds originally formed, I just think incubation between planets after the fact is unlikely.

    I vaguely remember Peridot saying something about Homeworld being out of resources and them having to quickly make Peridots and bc they were rushed (and thus had less time to incubate) they came without obvious powers and strength. This theory might explain why Peridot is so small without her limb enhancers.

  • @ByrdieFae
    @ByrdieFae 5 лет назад +228

    Iiiii dunno. If the Diamonds "incubate" from their planets, why do Yellow and Pink (that we have seen) manage the planets instead of actually using the power? When would Pink have taken that chunk out of Russia? And if Diamonds are designed to grow, why was Pink (now Rose Quartz) so fixated on the ability of humans to grow and change? If your theory is correct, she would already know about growing and changing. The other Diamonds wouldn't have kept that from her.

      Maybe they need to succeed the colonization process then incubate?
      And Pink could mean growing as in changing as a person, "growing up". Even if she would grow in size and authority, she'd still maintain her personality as everyone is taught in Homeworld that they can't change.

    • @atompanax7277
      @atompanax7277 5 лет назад +10

      Gems don't grow, and have no reason to. I think it is much more likely that the diamonds were made under very special and very specific circumstances, and came out larger because they were diamonds, not necessarily because they were incubating planet after planet. Though, say if a diamond was forming on a new planet, because they are a diamond, they might have taken all the minerals from the entire planet themselves and then emerged as a diamond, but I don't think they grow by colonizing other planets and absorbing their minerals. That would be too convoluted I think

  • @didosauce6008

    Just realized something. In the plans for the Earth colony, it shows the core of the planet branching out into towers on the surface of the planet. Those towers show some sort of wave leaving the tower and heading out towards space. Maybe the towers take energy from the core, convert it to another form, and then send that power to Homeworld or it’s outlying colonies to, well, POWER them!

  • @Evanexus

    Im pretty sure the only reason White was glowing was because she was in her ship (since her ship is just her head and upper body). The same thing happened in the same episode when we saw Steven's legs get a pink glow over them because the ship was the waist and lower body. As for the diamonds being as tall as they are because of how many colonies they have, those murals arent exactly accurate as to how many colonies the diamonds have today. The murals were made as part of the moon base and would have been made around 6k years prior to when we see them. Not to mention how Yellow hasnt grown in size at all from how she appeared in the flashback compared to her size today.

    • @audrei679
      @audrei679 2 года назад +5

      thi would make sense, but in change your mind when she's turned pink we can see she isnt glowing as brightly, however, she is still controlling her ship. Also, steven's glow was a visible line around his lower body. not his entire body, as we see with white. Even her feet are glowing.

  • @ShinyBusterBaby

    I think White Diamond IS Homeworld, although I really like your idea, as well! I think it has a lot of validity. So, in my theory, as opposed to her being the queen bee, she'd be the hive, itself. I only think that because of the amount of planets, under her domain.
    She's also, the oldest and the most established. Perhaps, her techniques in harvesting and conducting her business aren't the same, as the other diamonds. Perhaps, she's the old fashion way of doing things which were super effective and the other diamonds are the newer, more up to date versions. If you think about it, this idea really works, if you think of them as TVs.
    My first impression of White was she reminded of the old black and white movies. Her voice pattern, style and verbal tone reminds you of the old Hollywood stars, from the silver age of movies and the old tube tvs in the floor console. Meanwhile, Yellow and Blue are the the contemporaries of years, thereafter. While they're still rather sizable and big, are smaller than White. Then there is, Pink, who is the smallest of all the TVs. That's because she's not a TV, at all. She's like a device, aka a laptoo, phone, tablet. It's like they went from black and white, literally to color.
    And what were the portray color schemes for TV? Black, white and gray and yellow, cyan and magenta!
    So, their size could literally be a visual representation of the technological development of the diamond authority. While, the colors were their natural change through their expansion of the gem domain. IDK I'm just spitballing here!!!

    I especially like this theory because it explains why PD went from her tantrum and being a bratty child to a suddenly mature teen or young adult. She finally got her nutrients from her first planet. That might explain Russia. If she had taken the whole planet, not just a country/landmass, she could very well have grown physically as well as mentally. I honestly think that yellow especially would treat Pd different had she finished the colony. Not because pink proved herself, but because she grew up so to speak. Like... you scold your 8 year old for using a swear word and put them on time out. When they’re 14, you scold them. When they’re 20, you just ask them to please watch their language as it’s not your preference. People treat other people accordingly based on age so I think you’re spot on.

    One thing I remember that goes against this is that Amethyst is small because she stood too long in the ground, not too little. Peridot says this multiple times.

  • @otakuevolution2131
    @otakuevolution2131 5 лет назад +12

    My personal belief is that Pink is smaller because she's a third generation Diamond. White is a first. Blue and Yellow are both second. By the time Pink emerged, most of the resources of Homeworld had already been taken in by the other three Diamonds. This is why she's the runt of the litter. It's even possible White had a contingency plan to grow another Pink on some colonized world. Think of this: Peridot is a third generation gem who lacks the usual gifts other gems have (until she developed her metal power) and can't shapeshift. She has to rely mostly on technology to compensate. It's because by the time she was made, much of the resources on Homeworld had been depleted, thus the scrambling for the Diamonds to find a new Homeworld among their colonies. It's possible Pink was the canary in the coal mine. As soon as she emerged, the other Diamonds knew it was just a matter of time before they had to transfer their home base to another planet. This is why colonization became so important and why they could afford to pay attention to a little nothing colony like Earth, rather than just dismiss it after the rebellion began. It wasn't some wound to royal pride, but rather more practical necessity. Even the Cluster experiment may have been part of this effort.

    Remember in "So many birthdays" when steven changed age stages based on his emotional state? what if the longer a diamond or any other gem lives and the more "mature" the gem is as far as state of mind, the bigger and more imposing a figure it can present itself when the projection of light is reformed after say, poofing? Case in point amethyst being able to make herself so many different sizes and forms upon reforming, pearl changing her outfit (though thats a lesser example) pink diamond reforming herself as rose quartz permanently after faking her shattering could be an example as well. what if pink blue and yellow diamonds sizes/forms are just a projection of their actual state of mind and not necessarily related to actual hierarchy or authority? That would mean that the reason she (pink) is so small is because of the way she'd been made to think of herself by having all the other diamonds look down on her like they did? Just my thoughts.

    While I appreciate your bee analogy, the information on the stinger is incorrect. Queen bees still have stingers, the difference is a queen's stinger is not barbed. Royal jelly allows the larvae to overcome the phermone/hormone supression that comes from other queens. If there are no queens worker bees will lay drone eggs.

    • @chickenx777
      @chickenx777 4 года назад +3

      ik i'm late, but no. worker bees never lay eggs. drone eggs come into existance when an egg is not fertlized. that's the only way it would make evolutionary sense.
      an unferlilized eggs is a drone, a fertilized egg is a worker bee and a fertilized egg, later fed with royal jelly, is a queen bee.

    I quickly want to just say that near the end of Steven Universe, the scene where white diamond pulls stevens gem out. That she herself said that she had to be perfect. I think this is interresting considering she is( in theory ) in charge of pretty much everything so could this mean that there is another higher species that made the diamonds and the rules? And if so are they still even around?

In the episode Your Mother And Mine (Season 5) when Garnet was telling the story of Rose Quartz to the off-colors, there were planets that show that what planet did each diamond colonized. This actually makes so much sense in my opinion. Despite the fact it's known that there are some continuity errors in the show with heights and designs, from Jungle Moon to a Single Pale Rose pink appears to have grown taller. While some could debunk it as it just being to do with who storyboards I think it would make far more sense with this explanation! It would also make sense with the fact that geographically a lot of the earth in SU is different to our earth, like a huge chunk of Russia not existing and Iceland but existing at all. But this is just my opinion!

    Well, this kinda lines up with my theory that Earth was meant to be a diamond producing colony because Homeworld had run out of the carbon necessary to build diamonds after Pink (which also explains why she's small, there just wasn't enough left to make her bigger). Interesting thoughts here and pretty likely in my mind to be correct.

    • @cre6144
      @cre6144 5 лет назад +1

    It's a pretty good theory, and the main support is how the other gems treat defective or lesser gems. If you see a gem that comes out even kinda wrong you throw it in the garbage (shatter). Why would they keep a defective diamond??? They'd just throw it away like they do the rest.

    This actually aligns with a theory that I myself though of, and builds on it a little. Basically, I think that, piggybacking off of how we treat gemstones in the real world, diamonds aren't TRULY so rare- There's a false scarcity. When diamonds are found in kindergartens, they're shattered, usually, to maintain the idea that diamonds are so unique or rare. However, taking this into account, I think, instead, that maybe they're common on planets just starting out- This doesn't say Pink Diamond came from Earth, but that maybe she was one of the last gems to come out of a previous colony, and she was then... Noticed, I suppose, and she started to grow as a result of the acquisition of her own colony. Diamonds are simply shattered (and likely "harvested", something that Peridot mentions when she sees the Temple's room full of bubbles) unless they attract attention like that, and this is a bit of a stretch, since I'm sort of connecting loose(ish) ends with this last bit, but perhaps the "harvested" diamonds are either recycled back into material for other gems or even consumed by the diamond controlling the colony, which allows them to grow in a similar way to perhaps how it was mentioned White Diamond might be feeding off of Homeworld, though obviously, not exactly in the same manner.
    But that's just my two cents. Anyway, here's Wonderwall.

    This is an amazing theory I really like it, it makes so much sense that after colonizing a planet a Diamond would make it their own by absorbing some component of it thereby becoming larger and more powerful. It's sort of clear Pink is the youngest as Yellow talks about her "not being ready" rather than not built for it. One thing that is worth mentioning is that I don't think incubation really impacts much of a gem since Amethyst is seen as defective rather than super powerful for her over long time, instead I feel like a Diamond would sort of absorb the energy of a planet. But that's just my take and this is a really eye opening theory that I sort of want to say if they don't include it in the show then the show is wrong.

    My head cannon on why the planet is torn apart is it’s the diamonds kindergarten. The planet gave life to four sentient rocks. The white one came out first, then the yellow and blue diamonds came, but the red one didn’t. This explains why pink is pink and not the obvious red. It was only later the over baked runty off color pink. Like amethyst. This also explains why the diamonds hate off colors, it’s a sign of their imperfections. Furthermore, a catastrophic agent like a Diamond emerging is why the planet is destroyed.

    we know by Jungle Moon's dream sequence PD was around Stevonnie's height at that time by the cracked window, yet in Can't Go Back's flashback, which is set after, she is significantly taller than Pearl (who Stevonnie is only a bit taller than). This can be chalked up to this theory: after Jungle Moon when she got Earth she grew.

    I would submit that further incubation and growth from it would apply to all Gems... Except that Amethyst was late in emerging and she is considered a runt by Gem standards.

  • @jertrudeaduana7844
    @jertrudeaduana7844 5 лет назад

    Maybe White was originally the megatron spaceship thingys? Like she was this one HUGE solitary gem but then something happened and she realized she could not do it alone and then she split herself to three: her arms being yellow and blue and her legs being pink and that's why she can't move, because her respective body parts are gone and moving about on their own. Maybe the sneople (or whatever) wanted her power because remember the mural on the earlier episode where there were hands reaching for WD? Maybe that's why they are running low on resources cause they are fighting to protect something(cause you know, those hands where like in this "i'm about to grab it" position).
    Or maybe she wanted to be this very powerful being and those hands were trying to stop and she's like "too late guys I already have three copies of my awesome power and now you shall loose all your planets!" or something like that and then when the time comes and the other diamonds already built this powerful and BIG army they will combine and become one being once again and try to rule over the galaxy. Or maybe they won't combine cause maybe they are stronger apart and that also might explain why the corruption happened instead of destruction when the diamond attack happened; they were missing their "amplifier" a.k.a pink seeing as she is THE ENTIRE LOWER PART of the body which supports the ENTIRE body. Also her different body parts split apart also split apart her personality.
    Anyway, thanks for the vid! Man I love your theories!
