    Pro tips: 1. cover the book in wax paper first so you don't mar the covers or glue them down by accident. 2. try using mod podge on the edges. I like how you used a block to define the hollow part.

      @@LegacyEscapeBox I know a librarian, and she hates it when people do stuff like that to books

    Question: wouldn’t it been easier to glue the pages first before cutting inside?

      Yes I’m sure you could do that! I’ve made a few book safes by cutting because they feel more “real” than the metal ones you can buy. I’ll have to try that next time!

    Should be able to use a small brush with the Elmer's glue to get it into the pages instead of just the edges.

    Instead of using what could be a good book, use one written by Jeffrey Archer instead. Not only will you be making something useful out of it, but who the hell would pick it up to read through?

    What book did you use? The designs on a couple of pages look great for both codes and red herrings.

      The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. That’s what I thought also. The book was enjoyed before it was enjoyed again as a Book Safe!!

      My wife has anxiety about being “locked” in an escape room. I want to make one at home for her and my kids to show them the thrill of figuring out the puzzles and perhaps alleviate her fears. Thinking of going Harry Potter themed.

    Doesn't the key move around and make noise? Feel like that would give it away pretty easily
    Maybe just making the compartment more in the shape of the key would help, or just have it more snug so that it doesn't have room to move around?

    • @LegacyEscapeBox
      @LegacyEscapeBox  3 года назад +3

      Lou good question! Because it is paper, it doesn’t really make noise. But yes you can also cut any shape you want.

      You could also just put a block of foam in there with a cutout for your key, like you might do in a tool chest drawer for a specific screwdriver. That will eliminate any rattling of the key.
