- In Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga, Rachel McAdams is Sigrit Ericksdottir, an Icelandic school teacher with an angelic voice and a crush on longtime friend and collaborator Lars Erickssong. (As the pair say in the movie, they’re probably not related.) Behind the scenes, McAdams studied copious amounts of Björk clips to pick up the Icelander accent, harnessing the twee strength of the avant garde icon both on-screen and off.
The A.V. Club talked to McAdams about that process, as well as her relationship to the actual Eurovision Song Contest going into the movie. We also talked about her tips for a really great lip sync (McAdams doesn’t entirely sing her parts in the film), and how hours of real-life singing resulted in the actor losing some of her vocal fortitude.

His accent was actually the best Russian accent from non Russian actor I’ve ever heard. It was not rough as actors usually present it, it sounds like a russian person who tries speak without an accent

fabian lindberg I find it so annoying. There’s probably a clause in her contract about this too which is why she gets all awkward in interviews when they ask her about this. Stupid Hollywood... Rachel is phenomenal in this, even without her singing, and that’s ok. Molly Sanden was a perfect voice match. Just give credit where credit is due 🤷♂️
Ugh of course Molly says it's all her singing. How else can she will become popular?🙄 I wish they only kept Rachel's voice. Will's voice is nothing special either and Molly's voice doesn't go with that sweet Sigrid's character..

two instances I can recall we can possibly hear Rachel’s singing voice is when she’s composing Husavik on piano, and one of the rehearsal scenes for Double Trouble. If we compare it to the album version with Molly, Rachel’s voice is a little different - more softer and sweet I’d say?
YAAS, i wish they left Rachel's voice. Molly's voice is too nazal and sharp for Sigrid's character. They just don't go together...

@@johnmccrea4097 She didn't. She's not credited in a single song on the soundtrack but Will Ferrell is because he actually sang. Most people actually try and sing when doing karaoke. It makes it look better because even if it sounds like shit it still looks good which is what they needed for the movie.

It’s a little sad that the actress Rachel is ignorant about her singer Mollys surname: MOLLY SANDÉN is the full name of the exceptionally talented singer.

Not Molly Sandgren, her name is Molly Sandén and she sings the whole song.
She isn't claiming to have sung everything. There were some parts in a few of the performances and the part were she is 'writing' the song is all Rachel McAdams. But she still had to sing at every point of film so it wouldn't be overly obvious that it's not her voice.
They're both singing, but there are parts like the dress rehearsal for Double Trouble where it's pretty much just Rachel singing.

@fabian lindberg I suspect we may have heard McAdams singing "Double Trouble" in rehearsal when Lars tells Sigrid she doesn't sound like herself. It felt like an inside joke, as in "you don't sound like Molly, what's wrong?" ;)
Actually Celine Dion was already famous in Canada and France before the Eurovision. Its her performance during the Juno Awards that convinced David Foster and people from Sony Music to give her her chance and producing her first english album UNISON.

Yes, according to some north american experts, Rachel sang all the difficult parts, all the high notes and of course the "spirit note"... But they hired a pro singer Molly Sanden to sing most of the easy parts so that Rachel could rest her voice and just focus on the acting.

I've seen a couple of interviews with Rachel now where she claims in a rather nonchalant way that her voice is close to the singer who did the singing part for Sigrid in the movie. They did use a real singer for a reason. She might be able to hold a tone but I doubt she comes anywhere near a real singer. She just seems arrogant saying this stuff in interviews.
I think she means the tone and overall sound being similar enough that it wouldn’t be too big of a leap to think it was the same person

She means their voices sound the same as far as tone and pitch. Molly’s singing voice matches both how Rachel speaks and how she looks and presents on camera. If you’ve ever watched much Bollywood, there is a ton of lip syncing where the voice of the actor doesn’t match the voice of the singer at ALL and it’s very unbelievable.

Have not watched the whole interview but I knew watching the movie that most of McAdams' songs were her singing voice. Probably not the finale since that was too songstress, but overall, I think she's got a great auto-tune singing voice! 😄
