Very cool, but why not use 6*6 and just do ONE cut to get the same effect/look, should've saved a ton-o-time?

Thanks. The whole point was to use the existing 4x4 post as an anchor for the boxes. You have a great idea but I would have had to drill out or mortise out 4x4 squares which I was not planning to do. And this was cheaper. Thanks for watching and the comment!

It’s a mailbox. There’s nothing for motion or to turn on or off.
