    Love this concerto. Very interesting following the score. There's so much melodic, harmonic and rhythmic variety in it and although light-hearted, I'd also say it is deeply emotional. The 3rd movement here is taken at quite a pace.

    and what a stunning dispatch of the piano part that is! Kocsis is amazing, I have his Debussy and Bartok complete piano works and they are still my top recommend for both composers.

      I think it's a kind of canard or cliche to think of this concerto as "less modernist" - much of it is a little less "dissonant" than Bartok usually is but formally and rhythmically the piece is still as "modern" as ever

      Yeah it is less dissonant than most of his other works, but it is modern as neo-classicism is a part of modern music.
