I've got a 96 Sportsman I bought recently, and had a hell of a time getting both clutches off. The driven clutch was stuck to the transmission shaft. I had to use the puller bolt, and a couple of hard hits from a hammer to get the driven clutch to literally POP loose. Luckily there is no damage to the transmission shaft. The drive clutch was the same way. I thought it was coming loose, but the clutch assembly threads broke loose and the pulley was stuck on the crankshaft. I had to use the same method to get the drive clutch loose also. Needless to say I will not be reusing the old clutches when I get the new engine.
I have a 1999 Polaris 500 Classic with a bad stator. Is it necessary to remove the clutch? Do you have any videos removing the flywheel? I've been trying to remove it with the clutch mounted. At my wits end, any feedback would be appreciated.
Hi, thanks very much for the fine video. Can you tell me where you got the long bolt you use for removing the front hub? What are the dimensions? Thank you again!
hello i was wonder what causes my problem. when i am riding my snowmobile i let go of the throttle but it keeps moving. when it stalls i have to go into the engine and pull the belt for it to start, what is the problem and how do i fix it?
i have one that will role half way over and lock i pulled the head and checked the piston its moving up and down with the crank so i now that the rod is good but i dont now whats up my first polaris
should NEVER use an impact on that.you damage the crank bearings and /or can put it out of phase. should use a breaker bar or tourque wrench. you should also lube the threads..yikes man.
Elden Allen I'm going to say this its a tight space to get the back bolts off and you need a wrench I didnt want to take all that off though because I left my clutch puller at the sawmill I did however half to take the right fender off to take off the flywheel cover to get the 3 bolts on the inside

Can do it easy buy pouring water in to the primary shaft hole, adding a little teflon tape to the puller thread and using a socket.
3/4 inch bolt fine thread #16.

Your belt is to tight or your clutch is sticking
