If it's good quality food you're after, you can't do much wrong with Belarusian cuisine! Especially with the so-called stolovayas, or canteens, you got a perfect place to fuel up while trying out classic, very inexpensive Russian dishes! Even better, if you go out to a weekly market and purchase the ingredients yourself and cook up some borscht in your own apartment, you bet it's going to be absolutely heavenly if you stick to the tried and tested recipes!

I think the biggest barrier to living in Russia for westerners would be the language barrier and finding a job they could live comfortably on. The job part may be even harder than language because most foreign companies that need English speakers have left the Russian market.

For Australian dollars halve it, than minus 10%. So Bel$ 5.00 would be 1/2 $2.50, then 10% 0.25 = A$2.25. approximately.

A lot of these prices are more than what one would pay in the U.S. So, doesn't looklike Belarus is cheap.
