I wasn’t ready the first time she said “God is change”. We were taught God is the same yesterday, today, & tomorrow. As I grew, my whole world became EARTHSEED. Say it! ❤️
she was teaching at Howard in the English department when we were there. memories don’t live like people do! she will always be with us daily
I learned many lessons from the writings of Octavia Butler. Thank you Professor Karen for this enlightening conversation.
THEE ONLY ORACLE WE NEED. Love you Octavia! You are why we got land in Jamaica and are living from planet earth! rest in POWER AND PROPHECY
I love you Ladies for the thought process you all delivered, believers do not THINK, due to DEDICATED IGNORANCE. Please keep up the good work.🖤✌🏿
I love her! I am upset her work has not been adapted to a movie or tv show or something! Its a damn shame. Say it with your CHEST!!!
EXACTLY what I was thinking when, I watched Lovecraft Country... I was side-eyeing thee ENTIRE time, like this feels VERY OctaviaButlerESQUE!!!💯
@@LGnLA Lovecraft died in the 1930's,though.
idk if you’re gonna see this but Kinfolk’s gonna be a show soon👀
This is very much needed... the whole systematic aspect of Christianity has informed and indoctrinated to keep us from being our best and questioning our every existence towards being human
Christianity has done more damage in Africa,so sad.A white Jesus concept.
Again thank you Prof. Hunter. My cultural circle read/studied the two parable books. Hard to believe the future was foretold generally and clearly by this wonderful sister.
Good Morning 🌄 Everyone
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Taking my second vaccine this afternoon after over seven months of Long-Hauler systems after the first vaccine 3 weeks ago most of my system went away 🙄 still no taste or smell 😋 I am alive.
Have a great day everyone 👋
I am sharing this with you to give you hope
I have been in quarantine for over seven months
I want to get out of this house 🏡 and have a better life ❤️

We are so grateful for you my sister!
It's not about hope and pray, it's about DOING.....That hit hard👍❤
Ms Butler is a great writer I am currently reading Lilith's Brood. But Jesus saves my life and that I cannot deny. 🤗
Such a powerful conversation… asé… thank you
I have always felt Octavia Butler had great foresight of our future as a people of color and our belief in God.
Thank you
You're welcome!
Wrapped the Earthseed duo & they were the most terrifying books I've ever read. Ms. Butler NAILED IT!!! ALL of her books NAIL IT, really ('Lilith's Brood' was also AMAZING). Thanks for giving her props on Knarrative 🥰🥰🥰 Wondering if Knarrative will feature N.K. Jemisin in the future (she's OUTSTANDING)?
Probably...
We must question everything on towards what feeds are soul and Christianity has left us in a constant cycle of contradiction
First and foremost God never created religion! Christianity is a man made religion just like the other ones there nothing wrong with the Bible, but Bible in the hands of fools is dangerous
"Pagan Christianity?" book by Frank Viola and George Barna.
Excellent Advertisemen! I'm sharing now!
Dr.Carr & Professor Karen Hunter wisdom with Impact Impacts.. Thk Professor Karen Hunter..#Sauceybrownyoutube
Thank you for this conversation. Love it!
I loved you lady conversations! Thank you for the wisdom...
here for OCTAVIA - a queen of vision
If Black people weren't Religious and Believed in Science and Mathematics instead of god. We would be doing 50,000 times better than we are now. Religion makes people weak and lazy just to name a few things it does to hinder us. Ever heard a woman is not to teach a man before? My mother taught me everything thank god (not) thanks momma. Father was never there! How is it that men are born of a Black woman and yet god is a white boy? Thank god for making me agnostic initially before being educated and graduating to Atheism. Even as an ignorant child I knew it was insane to punish someone forever in a lake of fire forever, especially when X allegedly created someone. I've become my best friend after realizing it wasn't god that wasn't helping me, but in fact it was myself. No offense intended to those that choose to believe in magic instead of science and mathematics.
I applaud your courage. I certainly have nuanced differences from you in how I look at the world, consciousness, etc. However, I really honor your search, discovery and evolution in knowledge and awareness. Continue to evolve in your own unique and personal way.

Just read kindred. It was brutal.
say THAT, Prof✊🏽❤️💯
Butler is nothing short of prophetic in her writing
Let's consider our "consciousness" as the spiritual navigator that has been implanted in us to know a Higher Source which in my opinion has nothing to do with a physical and/or mystical human being or Savior...lest we forget, the "story" of Jesus is the exact story of the Egyptian Horus, only the Jesus allegory followed 4,000 years later! Octavia Butler was an example of an uplifted consciousness that we often don't reach for...but in my opinion, we all have access to. Let's just pause to reflect that the Bible, a text deemed sacred, that the great majority of black folks grew up with and considers the cornerstone from which we have established most, if not all of our morals/values...was strategically stripped down, ripped apart and reshaped by a European fella named King James I...so that in and of itself begs the question, why was it necessary to dilute and/or manipulate the alleged "word of God" in whole or in part ? And more significantly, how does a self-proclaimed Christian nation that we call home, can so effortlessly disdain and discard it's darker citizens, specifically those of African descent? Perhaps this would be a deeper topic for Professor Hunter and Dr. Carr to explore. I would love to hear a conversation on world Mythology (particularly African mythology) where all religions have their origin. Perhaps this initial conversation can take us further into reflection of self and the ultimate question that the great Octavia Butler first posed.
Relying solely on "consciousness" is another form of an inaction lazy faith.
@@PrincessAudiii in your opinion great Master.
@@phyllisfoster6589 Its the truth, please with the spiritual bypassing.
@@PrincessAudiii You are certainly and respectfully entitled to your opinion as am I.
Speak Phyllis!! I can feel that you're doing YOUR WORK and the mere fact that you're here prophesing is a manifestation of many things and LAZY FAITH aint one of them!!
Just finished both books amazing and so poignant, in our current times.
I don’t think the “Bible” was the chains but the dogma that goes with religious practices. While I’am in awe of the gift of Sister Butler, she was human as well, with frailties, with a genius mind. The issues that comes is when we try to make infinite Spirit, finite. To make the intangible, malleable and tangible. To be open to all possibilities of beliefs (including Christianity) is not to negate one faiths and belief over the other, but to learn and embrace the truths in them. My faith happens to include the Words of the Bible, my belief in my GOD and Jesus Christ. My minds image is my feeble attempt to be able to grasp the concept Of Omniscience, of Omnipotence. While I hope my enlightenment continues, I will hold on to the faith that keeps me grounded and able to face these troubling times. Hopefully being “free”, to believe and not think of it as a form of bondage.
Wow! Interesting stuff! Can this possibly bee??? Of course it can! But, i deff have to look into this bro.
What books are a must read!?

Hello Somebody😁
Hi, Derek!
["parable of the sower", by Octavia Butler, MAKE the movie! ] ---> make the movie! how come it's not ALREADY a movie! this lady saw the future some 30+ years ago... well, that future is now, or almost now, like tomorrow, maybe a couple of years from now, but it's coming, as inevitable as an atmospheric river, blizzards in LA, food riots, massive fires, guns, the whole kit'n'kboodle -- it's happening right now, just getting rolling! you can hear the vast multitudes around the world, migrating, trying to live, be alive, have a life, families, friends, enemies, they are all moving, look at the borders... their porosity is only going to increase... can't stop it, this tsunami cannot be stopped... this lady saw the future, with the clarity of a vision, if we don't make this book into a movie right now, then no book should have ever been made into one
Fledgling is the novel of today. More than Vampire bats ,we have lab bats. Being stuck by the Venom/antidote will make your immunity stronger and to be without out the Venom/antidote you will die. And the Vampire bat is dependent on your complicity to be vulnerable to Venom and the antidote. That's life💲for Vampire bat till they find themselves.

Would love to see Mark Charles in for coffee on this conversation. @wirelesshogan is this a conversation to invite each other into?
That is grown woman stuff!!! I divorced myself from doctrines years ago because I posed legitimate questions and got fairytale answers. How is it that an apple can produce all that it comes from but man/woman is a sinner by nature and not GOD!?
I left christanity behind 20 years ago when I quit the cult I was in and never looked back. Religion has left the black community weak and broke.
@@Theinfamouskiki411 Nothing but the truth spoken here. The church is a virtual Casino in the community; you put money in with the hopes of benefits and answered prayers coming out.
@@khnemura9 oh man. You so nailed that.
People put their faith in all manner of ideologies today. What ever train of thought/perception they value, most of them can be equated to their religion. KRS-One has a video in which he says Hip-Hop should be an ethnicity. I argue, it is used as more than that. It is used as a religion. Say what you want about believers, but my general inclination from what I have seen, is that they are likely the most successful demographic among Black people. The people of a Holy book, seem to at least, foster the ability of their children to read. Those who lived their entire life dedicated to their belief, in the words of a Holy book, again, of the people I know, appear to be more successful and stable, and resilient, in life. If
Hip-Hop can be equated as a religion has its emphasis on the oral tradition, had a negative effect of the education process of significant numbers of our children?
Conspiracy theories among us seem to be becoming as prevalent as religious beliefs. There seems to be an increasing competition for the minds of Black people, which logically runs counter to the idea of us becoming unified enough, to produce the power necessary to correct internal collective problems, as well as counter the external force, so many of us wail against everyday. Can Black afford to ponder so advanced a future while the present seems, to have us moving back in time? That we can say we need a "reset", attest to this reality, as what past that most of us are aware of and or appreciates that would adequate for us today, let alone in a rapidly changing future?

God is all we need in the STRUGGLE against the TRIALS/TEMPTATIONS that prevail on earth. if we take SELF out of the way, hear God's voice and obey him, we have NOTHING to FEAR. homosexual is man's word. reprobate is used in the Bible in reference to does who will not glorify God in the body he gave them. To honor God in the flesh, man most leave mother and father. find a wife. produce children. teach them of GOD and pass the PATTERN on to the generations to come. in doing this thing, God's way EVERYTHING causing us chaos in this world would be eliminated. and, GOD WOULD HEAL THE EARTH and SUBDUE the ELEMENTS of wind, water, hail and fire. with three words . . PEACE BE STILL!!!✍️
Rereading The Living Blood right now cause Goddess Due...you got me out of organises religion! Wow two icons in one conversation! Awesome! A'sha Dr. Butler! Thank you Ms Due!
Interesting. Odd underlying assumptions, but interesting.
odd?
@@knarrative Sure, from my perspective. I’d probably need more context of the conversation to get the fuller ideas, but in this clip there seem to be some positions I wouldn’t think would be mutually exclusive and/or don’t mesh with my understanding and experience with religion/faith. But, as I said, interesting nonetheless.
Interesting segment but it would be helpful to reference which book they were discussing; I happen to know it's Parable of the Sower but others may seek out a book titled "God is Change".
I think Octavia Butler is a product of her time and that was an era prior to civil rights when separate and unequal treatment was still overt in American life. And yes she deserves credit where credit is due, but when you are talking about imagination and creativity, you don't have to start with or ground it in oppression. That is the exact opposite of the "creative freedom" that imagination gives you and "Afrofuturism" in the modern sense is more about imagining a world and stories where white domination doesn't exist and isn't a factor. As if to promote the idea that we need to see ourselves in a world we create and begin to move towards the kind of future based on self determination narratives not victim narratives. And at the center of this world is a core African cultural foundation of identity that does not revolve around European cultures and identity. This is why I don't see Octavia Butler as a "Afrofuturist" in the same way as Nnedi Okorafor and other African authors who live different experiences and are in a different era than Ms Butler and of course still grounded in African culture and identity.
Okay now. I am one person who can not afford to subscribe to Knarrative. What are your true reasons for knarrative if we can "not" afford to join?
we have scholarships...so...you clearly haven't been paying attention. If you need a scholarship, email: info@knarrative.com.
What an odd approach. If your liberation and education is not worth a small token investment…. What is? Plus, there are plenty of free scholarships for those who find subscription a challenge.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If u use the Bible to substantiate ur stance...be honest about what it says...ijs
U will not tell me u aren’t intelligent enough to know that is homosexuality...
The word is just not used.
In addition...we are NOT GOD...but made in HIS image.
The Bible is about us...but most don’t know who WE are...smh
GOD is the great I AM 🙏🏾💪🏾🙌🏾
People lean on that verse a lot. I did a search and abomination was used around a dozen times in association with lying, which we all do. We should all be more concerned with cleaning up our yard than worrying about our neighbors high grass.
Thank you. I thought I was going to hear something of substance, but instead heard lies. These ppl do not want God. Everything they are saying and apparently the author they are speaking of have their own doctrine.
@@RShaun trust me my grass is my concern as well as the weeds that may infiltrate...
Christianity is filled with bad doctrine. But God loves you more than you know. He just wants us to not treat each other evilly and respect each other. It's not rocket science.
it really is not...Love conquers all.
