    Echigo Yuzawa is an excellent day trip, the station has a sake vending shop and lots of great rice products for sale. Theres even a pick your own strawberry farm January to June called Yuzawa Ichigo Mura Strawberry Farm. And being a tourist I was able to get a JR East Pass, so it only cost me $100 round trip for my first Shinkansen ride. One of the best days of our whole trip.

    Great ideas Kenchan...I hope to get a glimps of Mt.Fuji when I visit in January..And maybe a couple of nice pictures if the weather is kind....I am hoping to head south as far as Kagoshima ( for the volcano) if possible.....And to visit Nagasaki, Kumamoto and Hiroshima...And if I feel more adventurous I'd like to visit Shimonada Station on the Island of Shikoku..just for the view and photos...I believe it was used as the basis for the station in the Ghibli movie "Spirited Away"...As it is, I have no travel skills and as such, chances are I won't do half of the things I'd like to do...I know I will end up lost most of the time..But isn't that apart of the adventure?..I just hope I come back home wanting to return if ever possible. Arigatou Gozaimasu.

      Thank you for watching this video and sharing your thoughts. You hope "going back home wanting to return" ... that is such a beautiful message. I also think that is the best ending of the travel. I think for sure you can see a glimpse of Mt.Fuji as the air is clear in January. That is great you are visiting countryside of Japan as I haven't been many of them. It's completely different from Tokyo, and some parts are really like Ghibli world. I'm thinking I want to cover the all 47 regions of Japan after completing Tokyo and surroundings. Please let me know if you find your favorite places. I like how flexible you are in your travel. I agree, even if you get lost or things don't go as you expected, that is travel and adventure. :) Again, thank you for the comment. ありがとうございます。:)

      I agree, this is another great video with plenty of really good + valuable information. Personally however, I am not a big fan of day trips (that is not only in Japan, but worldwide). I prefer to visit less places, and stay there at least one night (2 nights are better). Because the place is usually totally different before and after the day trip visitors are gone. Perfect examples for that are Kawaguchiko (from Tokyo), Nara (from Kyoto or Osaka) and Miyajima (from Hiroshima). When the day trip visitors are not there, its much more relaxed and peaceful and enjoyable.

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Год назад

    thanks for the great content as always! if you don't mind i have a few questions with regard to the JR tokyo wide pass - do you know what lines i can take if i want to go from 1) narita airport to katsuta 2) shinjuku to kawaguchiko (other than the fuji excursion limited express) and 3) shinjuku to odawara?
    google maps have alot of possible routes but it's not very clear what lines are exactly covered under the JR tokyo wide pass

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Год назад

      1) You can take Narita Express to Tokyo and take limited express to Katsuta (all included in JR wide pass), or you can take local Narita ilne to Abiko and change to Joban line, which is much closer as a distance. 2) You can take Chuo line to Otsuki, and Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko. You can take limited express "Kaiji" that stops at Otsuki. 3) You can take limited express Odoriko that stops at Odawara, or regular JR tokaido line train. If you are doing all of these 3, you save a lot with JR tokyo wide pass. :)

      It's hard to say if easy or not, as it greatly depends on the driving experience and which side you drive in your country. (Japan drive on the left side). • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Год назад

      Hello, I considered the best station but there is no one station that is convenient for both, and it depends on other plans too. If you use JR Tokyo Wide Pass for Nikko, the origin or trip would be Shinjuku, Tokyo or Ueno for JR Pass, and if you use Tobu train, it will be Asakusa. For Hakone, if you use Odakyu, Shinjuku is convenient. If you use JR pass (Tokaido Shinkansen) or JR Tokyo Wide Pass (Odoriko or regular JR train) to Odawara, near Tokyo or Shinagawa would be convenient. :)
