A true teacher here. Framed it with Red House to make you feel familiar and then turned it into a full on blues lick lesson without referring to the song again until the very end. Awesome chops, awesome tone, awesome technique.
1:56 it starts
You're a great teacher and seem like a genuinely nice person. Hope you make more videos. Thanks!
you have a lot of soul. loved this.
Thanks for your time friend. You taught me so much in a short time and am truly grateful.
You play with a lot of feel my friend, it's the notes you don't hear that make your licks so good, only practice time and talent can bring that type of texture to your playing:) haven't enjoyed a blues lesson like this on youtube for a long time. Keep riffin mate:)
so good, I can feel your emotion as you play, keep on keeping on brother
Jerry, this is a great lesson.. lots of insight here. Thanks very much for sharing!
This is an awesome lesson!Been playing blues among other styles around 20 years and i learned some cool stuff from this.Nice man
Thanks
I’ve trawled all of YT looking for the Jimi Hendrix Red House that I love - which I believe was the UK recorded studio version - and I have to tell you, although this isn’t what I was initially looking for, I am so glad I accidentally stumbled across it. It’s more of a master class on ‘how’ you can approach it or play it, which quite honestly, is illuminating. From the various vibratos and rakes, to the subtle nuances that you show, not only are you a great guitarist, but it’s outstanding! Well done and thank you so much for your invaluable insight. I can now leave, a happy man and go try some out.
Thank you so much for sharing this with me from my heart felt thanks . All the way from Coventry
excellent lesson and beautiful playing,,thank you so much for taking the time and effort to explain..
great lesson and fantastic pinky strength on those bends. so many players don't develop that. jimi had massive hands, but for most players, learning to use the pinky more will give you the ability to cover more area on the fret board with ease
Excellent lesson!! Thanks for posting! Love your 335 too
Love the way you teach, love this! Thanks!
This is someone we could LEARN alot from, great passion and soul, great tutorial Thanks
Tx for teaching n sharing bro. Get spirit of blues. 🇲🇨🎸👍
I was impressed n awed how great is this
Thanks Linus! More lessons from Jerry are on the way!
There are many good blues players but only a few great one's. You make your guitar sing in a way that tells me you are great. Excellent.
Lots of good stuff in these 12 minutes. Thanks
Hell yeah, that opening line and I knew I found the right lesson. Bravo sir
My compliments very interesting lesson. Great nifty licks.
Great licks, I hear as much BB King as I do Jimi H. Thanks for sharing.
Great and inspiring lesson! Thanks!
great spirit of blues!!
Righteous, brother...
This is really pleasant to watch and I like him as a teacher c:
very nice, thank you for your insight!
This is really amazing, great tasty licks mate.
guitar sounds sweet. I love your tone mate.
Wow nice chops! I have always loved this song but I'm am far from lead guitarist. However I have always wanted to be. This song had a lot to do with me wanting to pick a guitar up. Somewhere between there and here I ended up just strumming chords and singing melodies. I have to give a lot of props to the players such as yourself who embrace that grinding repetition that I imagine playing like this entails. Sounds great! I'll try and pick up a thing or 2 thx
Great touch, very refined and feely...I subscribe !!! ...and I'll check UT for other lessons...BIG guys can be great guitarists, just like the legends B.B.King and Leslie West, among others...Thank you and take care !!!
Great teaching man. I have to be honest, most of the theory goes over my head but the playing was easy to follow. 'Thanks!
excellent!
Jerry, this is awesome!!! You still give lessons?
I wish I had someone in my family who could play guitar so beautiful like you. Tnx alot - make more! Alex from Slovenia
Yasssss You better play that I went from learning to watching and jamming off your video Awesome!!!
One word......GREAT!!!
I wish more people would teach lessons like you do. Technique is really where its at. On a completely unrelated note; the character you present when you play remind me of BB King. I saw him in Omaha last summer and he fucking rocked it with Frampton and Sonny Landreth so I can honestly say the resemblance is uncanny.
Thank you
excellent
Great playing and some great takes on the licks. Beauty guitar! What strings do you use...011s?
Great video, sir. I just want to say Thank you ... nice skills
Luis Vilela g ryfh
nice!
Great stuuuuuuuuff
Nice
Damn I like that tone
hey sir!!! amazing lesson but where is the strat? :)
Does anybody know how to play the 2 end chords jimi plays at the end?
the real bluesy 2 chords at the end :D please someone help me out :p
Thank you so much for this!
Yeah, this guy has some soul.
Who plays the harp in the intro?
Really was this a lesson or alittle show section
class
Trying is better than not trying!
Nice job! So it's in the key of A it looks like. I tried playing it to the record years ago and thought it was in B flat but I'll bet Jimi's guitar was tuned a bit high. Thanks for the lesson.
+sqwuade Its a C Major Blues so its the same that a A minor scale i think
Jimi always tuned 1/4 to 1/2 step down to suit his voice. You are correct the song is in B. Sounds good in any key!
is there a tab for this lesson?
Reminds me of BB
He's teaching us the techniques jimi used. Which is better than just note for note
Yes. But before you start with this you should get some strength in your 4th and pinky finger with exercises like 1234,4321 up and down the neck on each string.
Good luck and ENJOY the progress!
Tuning?
nice 335
Jimi used a Gibson sg on the recording of this song, and usually when he played it live also.
I realize it's pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Drake Jadiel try FlixZone. Just google for it =)
@Andy Aarav yea, been using Flixzone for years myself :D
@Andy Aarav thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it!
@Drake Jadiel glad I could help :D
Duane Allman!!!
You should always try :P but dont feel bad if it doesnt work :)
quel est le morceau intro;merci
intro harmonica of course
Long live the blues. #ugottalisten2b4udie I know her sister will!
I don't understand the down votes. great lesson!!
Great !
no more.
I do my own music and covers and I think I got something special to bring to the table. Check out my guitar playing at my Elvis Presley Guitar Melody Electric! Thank you very much
your playing sounds more like b b king which is not a bad thing.
ES-335 = THE SHIT !!!!!!
There is only do or do not. There is no try.
I'm sorry but you played it nothing like on the record. That being said, It was tasteful and you play very skillfully.
Your an idiot he played it almost just like how it's recorded; however, it's done in the key of A which he explained at the beginning of the video. So not only did you not hear what he said, you also can't tell he took it down a full step. You are a rock star in so many ways.
Avery Jacobson Yeah he probably doesn't have that rudimentary knowledge needed to understand the lesson. If you don't realize the guy isn't playing in B7, E7, F#7 like most of the tabs are in your gonna be lost on this. Also if you dont understand 1,4,5 your also going to be lost. These are simple things but most people dont bother learning them and they open up a whole new world of understanding.
Which record bro.??? Jimi never ever played a song the same way twice.....so really u can't say that....he was all about being spontaneous and goin with the flow and never letting someobe hear his songs the same way twice
PROSERAVANJE
Good but there's no Hendrix licks in there.
It's not the same than the real versión.
Not Jimi's red house in anyway shape or form - this guy is hearing things.
since when did rob ford play guitar? JK
SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST NOT MEANT TO TRY AND TEACH!
+AREA 51 Wasn't on Axis
The intro is wrong, wrong rythm
Are you a giant turkey?
Don't be such a jerk. You must be a powerless, miserable soul to say something like that.
If you say so.
no but I got somthing you can gobble queer
Oh look its a child that thought he could play guitar till he attempted to try a master hendrix and is mad cuz this guy is so good and he can't even play the pentatonic scale....thus has no clue what's goin on.....SO has to talk shit to feel better....douchebags like u are the reason pop country bullshit music is so popular these days. Grow up or WALK ON HOME BOY
he's great at guitar, but he looks deflated
This is an interpretation. NOT even close to the original.
where is your neck..
Echa Chel -..his guitar's neck is quite enough for him, you rude moron !... and oh boy, he sure does master it !!!
