I read a lot of the comments here and I am a bit upset. As a mom of 3 sons (11, 8, 5) I can say, the very best you can do as a mother is just to be always calm and put confidence in your child. Your children have good abilities to became good people. Every child is different. Try not to match your child with anothers. This only makes you insecure and helps nobody. Rear children is not a competition. There is no winner and no loser, just Difference. Sorry for my english.
Those are wind smiles. The proper smile is after a month usually and its a biggg difference. The real smile is when your baby looking at you wide awake and smiling :) ..best feeling ever! -new mum with 2months old baby
This is very detailed and important. I’m the mother of a 2 month old. Everything you’ve said is accurate. I thought my baby was constipated but he began having more dirty diapers after week 6. My major issues involve getting him to sleep around 3am and sleeping on his back. He does not like sleeping on his back and will immediately awaken. His eyes are also out of focus but I’m going to get them checked
My daughter smiled on day 2 and has been smiling every day since. She laughed last week. Every moment is so exciting to see 😍 She just made 2 months today. 5/6/21
Also about the part where they say that a baby should be calmer around your voice. This is a learned trait for the baby. Lots of parents don't realize they should talk to their baby even while it's screaming. If you do this (even in the middle of a loud crying spell) the baby will learn to calm down when you talk. If you don't do this, the baby won't learn to calm down when you talk. It takes a few weeks (and even months) for this connection to happen, so it's important to start doing it more often at around 2 months old. Then by the time they are 3 months they should be more calm when you speak :) (my own experience and my friends) :)
Faith, Hope and Love thank u bc she doesn't calm down when I speak to her n I wasn't happy with tht information bc it worried me. I do how speak to her when she crys. not much has changed. BTW she is 24 days old.
Very informative. I've had the worst time getting my baby to sleep through the night. Womb sounds have been helpful for me. Some music box lullabies work too. Not sure why it works but it does. My favorites to use are from Best Baby Sleep right here on RUclips. I had bought a cd but much easier to get it from here. Just a tip. Hope it helps others here.
My son will be 3 months old on the 25th already and it feels like I just had him yesterday. He is so talkative, smiles all of the time, is starting to giggle and roll over. I want him to stay a baby forever 😩
My baby's so young. I just now put together what the drs meant by skin to skin contact. Awww the sound of my heartbeats always been soothing to her the whole time... right :/?! I just thought idk. I guess I kind of thought about it... Maybe the whole me constantly being nude, to a bit nude in the hospital threw me off. She's just a clueless cutie mainly only focusing following the sound of my voice. Which is still cute. Her bright dark grayish blueish eyes looking at everything too. Kind of think, at least hoping, the father will end up being better than his miserable pos dad..
My baby boy is freakishly strong. First thing he did after beeing placed on mommy after birth was to raise his head and look around. Doctors and nurses have commented on his strength several Times. Daddy proud :D
Armsport Gamer lol same! My baby did that too I’m literally 5 feet and my baby came out a whole 8 pounds and 6 ounces and 21 inches long , he is turning one month this November 30 and he is really strong 😆💙💙
New Mommys here who are suffering from postpartum depression your not alone and I really wanted to let you all know that you are all doing a really fantastic job and that you are all beautiful and strong! 💕
Yes, but doesnt cover colicky babies much. For that I recommend the book, The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp. Here's a short yet detailed animated summary of it: m.ruclips.net/video/crdQy8zliZw/видео.html
actually, breastmilk is digested more quickly than cows milk formula which is why breastfed babies feed more frequently. There is a huge variation in the volume of each breastfeed as well.
The let the baby sleep on back came back tragically when my frnd was advised to keep her new born on his back, the baby kind of burbs and aspirated with the milk.. And died.. So if you want to let the baby sleep on the back make sure it is 30 degrees or slightly tuck something so they'll be slightly on their side.. I never keep a baby sleep on his back though...only in his car seat or when I'm with him.
As far as "smiling", one of my cousin's started smiling about 10-20 minutes after birth. I was like "how does he know how to smile, what the heck is he thinking about, because he was just born?" Amazing.
I had to look it up myself. But the idea is cute. And the reaction is funny. My baby will scream in the middle of the night to get her diaper changed. And it's 1 sec from acting like a drama queen to "smiling" in her sleep. Oh well, it's still cute. I haven't told anyone the facts yet... although. I swear, I think she laughs in her dreams too... 🤔🤷🏻♀️
You're unbelievably lucky if I was any sort of typical baby should your child sleep three to five hours during the evening! My mom told me that the longest nap I ever took as a baby was about one hour; and that was way too short- I insisted on being up at all hours, literally!
Rachel is My Angel no do your research before trying to put someone down it is totally normal for newborns to eat every hour to 2-3 hours , 4 hours just means you got a good sleeper
Rachel is My Angel please do some research that is all I will say! Lol your talking about a month old and up baby feeding schedule, like I said google is great stop being ignorant hun 😘
Because talking in front of a video is stressful/nervewrecking when you are presenting to unknown people on the other side of the camera. Try it! People have different ways of dealing with this stress. Their voice often reflects how they are feeling. They often feel rushed due to time constraints they have been given.
I never did tummy time because my son absolutely hated it. He learned to crawl & walk just fine- even ahead of half of his playmates. He was always lifting his head anyway when he was on us or we were holding him. I think there was even a study done way back in the 90s that proved "tummy time" didn't do anything.

midori1 i tend to agree with you. My 1 month old has been lifting her head/neck and chest on her own since day 2. Just laying baby on your chest is considered "tummy time". I think tummy time in general works. It's just a reminder for those moms who just lay their kids down all day so those muscles get used
I think a nurse told me to always keep my baby on her back. I just told my hubby today (sorry for generalizing) the drs don't always know what they're talking about. They act like babies really r that completely clueless. Bc im pretty sure she at least knows how to survive. I've never seen her roll over completely & I don't wanna put her on her tummy. But she does roll over on her side and stays put. Shell even let me know she's frustrated on my chest if she can't move her head around. My parents must've steady kept me on my back. ..
Great information, she is so straight to the point. Mine is feeding every 2 hours and sleep 2 hours and longer. Trick for Mamas finding it hard at night times, give your babies warm oil massage before bed and watch them sleep longer.
My daughter too, I think they mean they will smile on purpose later. My baby smiles sometimes, but without a reason. I think she is exercising her face muscles or something.
And she also smiled as soon as she was born when her dad was talking to her as they were cleaning her up and already is started holding her head up and pushing with her arms and legs to try to climb up my chest lol
At around 4 or 5 weeks my baby skept from 10 pm till 9 am in the moring. When I woke up at 7 am I realised she haven't get up to eat and at 9am I was the one to wake her up :)
Sleep 3-5 hours???! I wish, our baby has a 1-2 hour alarm clock. Longest she'll sleep is 2 and a half hours if were lucky! Cheers to whoever has a baby that sleeps 3-5 hours
Cheers to me, my baby is a month and sleeps from 12 midnight to 5 in the morning, 5 to 6 hours, bt will feed 3 to 4 hours before sleeping, used to worry a lot and test her glucose levels which were always above 4,2 when I try waking her up she doesn't or feeds for 5 min then back to sleep, normal weight n no complications at all

Wow well done cant wait to meet my baby
I personally wouldn’t worry about the head shape...it works itself out in my experience, by the time they’re toddlers the head looks pretty normal!
My little brother is a few days old and the only time he smiles is when he pees
when my little girl pee, her face is like she is doing something which is very thoughtful.

Word, my son frequently feeds every hour. Tough on my wife.
Something I realized you are *both* probably right.

It’s reflexes rather than social that early on unfortunately
that's that I'm going to poop soon smile or i have gas smile
A newborn smile is just the baby moving it's facial muscles. Later they learn to smile.
Thats smiling reflex i guess. My baby was smiling in my womb when we were doing 3d scan
