The lens needs a firmware update, you'll be surprised how much better it is after the update, it works perfectly with my R body! Would I buy the lens today? No! There are so many RF mount 85's on the market today I'd pass on the Tamron but since I've owned it for a few years I see no need to replace it.
Tell me which RF lens would you buy today and why wouldn't you buy a Tamron when it is even completely sealed and nothing comes out when focusing, which RF has such characteristics ? I have a very good offer on Tamron, even for half the price, as the canon RF 85 f2 stm is being sold, is this canon better than Tamron in any way?
My experience is this. Very similar even the CA is close. The sigma probably is sharper at the corner but since I don’t have a copy now to compare, I can’t confirm it.
But if I’m buying for the R, I’ll get the tamron cause of the IS and smaller size. Or maybe consider a secondhand Canon 85 1.4 IS. But that lens I’m sure is slightly weaker optically then the sigma
It's absolutely shocking how Canon came from having no ibis on their cameras to having the best in any FF camera in the market. About the lens itself it's nice, but i don't think it makes any sense when there is Samyang 85/1.4 natively on RF. Tamron is heavier and if you add adapter to it the difference becomes quite apparent. Even the Canon 85/2 RF Macro seems like a better option and it's priced similarly. Also i know that you are probably getting tired of me saying this, but you have to check the Samyang! In my opinion it's by far the best bang4buck 85mm option on Sony E/RF mounts. Just make sure it has the newest firmware!
My dealer dont hold the samyang haha. So its hard since I wont want to buy another 85mm. Unless someone is gonna fund me hahaha. But that said I will be getting my hands on a 85mm F2 RF to try out. Im actually quite excited since thats a true native and the pricing is actually very very good. Not forgetting it has a nice macro function.

How about the Sigma ART vs the Tamron 85 on a Canon EOS R?

And yeah, Canon IBIS is really very very good. Its way better then most in-lens IS by a good 1 stop at least.

Hi, your video was uploaded about year ago. How is it working right now? Is the issues was fixed? I mean the lens IS and IBIS issue.
Sadly I don’t have the lens anymore but tamron did release firmwares to fix the issue from what I know

Different in performance. A7r3 will have a better image quality while r6 will be better in everything else
