I frickin love special world 8. You expect lava, castles, and threatening music. Instead, you’re hit with this. Easily the most memorable world of the game because of how unexpected it was.

This theme inspires both joy and sadness. It makes me think of my friend I didn't meet yet because of the pandemic. I miss her a lot ; can't wait to give her a hug and share a winter vacation with her. When we'll be together, the Special 8 complete theme will play.

I beat this game 100% as a kid. Played every level, got all the star coins and when I got here it just felt weird. After getting all the flagpoles and coins, I noticed that a new level appeared here. It was the last level, at that time, I beat it on my first try. Now, as I'm older, I tried again and couldn't do it lol, dunno how younger me managed to do it. This game may had been an easy Mario game, but it was a very nice game and I'm very fond to it.
@@Tulip_bip no kidding back then as a 8 year old i was able to beat smash 64 classic mode with 3 lives on very hard with captain falcon and i beat it first try without getting a continue and my brother was like holy crap how did you do that. But years later i can't do it with 3 lives i have to use 5 lives to beat it without any continues.
I remember in 2011 5 year old me got a 3ds with this game for Christmas. I played it after we finished opening Christmas gifts and it was such a magical feeling that I can't describe to this day. I never finished the entire game, but in 2016 when I was 10, I finally did and looking back, even though 5 year old me never made it to this part of the game, This song still gives a lot of nostalgia. I miss my childhood.
When I finished Special-7 I didn’t know what to expect for a finale world, and then this starts playing. Even though I didn’t know what to expect, this was the last thing I would have expected.
Its honestly kinda funny. Every special world feels like a sort of warped version of its regular counterpart, but it also feels like an evolution of that world. The grasslands become a shining horizon. The forest becomes a large snowy landscape. I was ready to see something absolutely HORRIFYING For Special 8. And then, you walk into this golden happy town with calming music. It is quite literally the opposite of World 8.
THIS has to be the most neutral song in Any mario game! The player being happy to reach near the end of the game and feeling accomplished but at the same time feeling like they reached the end and having nothing to do afterwards
I actually prefer this over the one with all stages unlocked/complete. Although, it does seem more appropriate, but this one’s more calming. And I wish they didn’t get rid of the pipe to World 8.
I agree, they should have instead had a second half of special-8 and added another pipe, ideally they would've used the space at the beginning of the second half of world 8 to create a pipe to the second half of special 8, which would have had the "complete" music (with the first half of special-8 keeping this music) and the only level in the second half being special-8-crown, so that the level really felt like an extra special reward. At least that's how I would've done it.
I get through all the Special worlds hearing each map theme being a fancy remix of the originals, then I get to World 8 expecting it to be a remix but it's all peaceful and completely different, the Mario Drawing Song threw me off guard
