  • Did you know that you can upgrade your old spectrum WIFI 5 router for a new WIFI 6 for almost free, Spectrum doesn't charge to upgrade your router to the newest WIFI 6, you just need to take it to a Spectrum store and they will give you a new one. This is for Spectrum customers only, take advantage of the benefits of WIFI 6 and upgrade yours, let me know if you have any questions.
    FQA questions:
    Does Spectrum offer wifi 6 routers?
    Yes, Spectrum now offers wifi 6 routers
    Can I upgrade my router to wifi 6?
    WiFi 6 routers are 100% backwards compatible with WiFi 5 and older WiFi devices.
    Does wifi 6 penetrate walls better?
    WiFi-6 achieves higher speeds through more efficient data coding. While the industry has shifted to 5 GHz Wi-Fi for less interference, Wi-Fi 6 will also increase speeds on 2.4 GHz networks which is better at penetrating solid objects.

    I noticed you are in California per what you said. But I think Spectrum gives modem/router combo well at least the basic model. In the meantime have you thought about discontinuing renting the router and/or paying for WiFi after a while it pays for itself meaning investing in one. Perhaps just use cellular lines and/or USB tether. WPA2 is broken personally I just strongly dislike broadcasting radio technologies knowing is being broken in some research lab somewhere.

    I recently had Spectrum installed because I had no other option in a new built home. The tech came out (contracted) with a Modem and Router including the new one shown in the video I told him I had a Google Nest Wi-Fi and he told me I had to plug it in the router it would not work going directly in the Modem. When you do it their way you end up with two Wi-Fi options which did not make sense to me. So, I plugged the Google Nest directly into the Modem and at first it did not work but after some research on the web and here I found advise that said reboot modem and then plug in the Google Nest and it worked as I thought it should and there is no need for the Spectrum Router, and they should not be charging me $5 when I get my bill. Most importantly I now see only ONE Wi-Fi network for my house. Sad when you know more than their technicians.

  • @ashleysilva7414
    @ashleysilva7414 8 месяцев назад +8

    We recently upgraded our router to this model and the signal upstairs was weak - kept dropping connection on the computer. The router's "phone assist" or some similar named feature had to be deactivated as this feature robs signal strength. Had it switched off by the tech and no more problems.
    The tech said this can be deactivated remotely.
    I wish Spectrum would train their staff as there was a lot of run around before it was finally fixed.

Because it comes with two routers, one that you plug in your coax cable then you Branch off of that and plug it into the one in this video . I really don't know which one to use because I can't use both because my range extender is the source of the internet and it only has one plug . Just curious if anybody knows any life hacks to get a better signal out of my range extender I just really didn't see the point in pain for internet in this economy when I can get it with my range extender from my father-in-law's house.

    Hello, I have a question: I live in a small apartment behind my landlords larger house. He has a Spectrum cable box, modem, and wifi router towards the front of his house, (There's an additional Spectrum cable box in my bedroom for my TV, on his same account). I use his wifi signal to connect my bedroom laptop to the Internet, but the signal is very weak, even with an extender I purchased and connected. So my question is this: would it be as simple as just splitting the coaxil cable that goes into my cable box and connecting a modem for a legitimate strong Internet signal which I can run to my laptop with an Ethernet cable? Thank you.

    • @NumberDZ
      @NumberDZ  11 месяцев назад +2

      You cannot simple connect another modem to the coaxial cable, I believe that Spectrum lets you add another modem using the "bridge mode feature" that means that 1 modem is connected to the coaxial cable and acts as a bridge to send internet to another modem, but you need to call them to make the configuration and register a second modem under the same account.
      The other way and the easiest one would be to run an ethernet cable from the front house to your room that way you can connect your laptop directly using that ethernet cable. If your laptop is a Mac you can configure it to create its own WIFI network (it creates a WIFI network and you can connect other devices using its own network).

    These WiFi 6 routers are the worst. Just buy your own router, it will save you money and time on the phone when they shut off the router remotely. These new routers are cloud managed but all your settings have to be done through an app on your phone. It works, IF they want it to. They can't randomly shut off service to your home but they CAN and DO shut off your cloud managed WiFi...

      That’s not true. You just have a lot of noise in your area causing you to have issues. Our wifi 6 routers work flawlessly with fiber because there’s no noise coming from other houses. And they can cut you off just by removing the provisioning to the modem if you don’t pay your bill. Everything is digital

      @@almightysir8372 It is the router. The router disconnects and reboots itself but won't boot all the way. It will not reconnect to the modem because its trying to get its settings from the cloud and can't. This happens weekly and sometimes multiple times a week now. It is not because of WiFi noise, reception issues or heat. The router itself sometimes loses connection at exactly 12 noon or 12 midnight. Got the router and modem replaced once but still have the same issue. Sometimes we can reboot the router and sometimes nothing we do will make it work until we call and they work their magic over the phone. One thing always stands true though, the modem is always connected. I can connect my computer directly to the modem and get internet. The router just simply refuses to boot sometimes. It is as if they are using their own DNS server to serve a special domain for retrieving settings and the IP of that domain is changing but the router is not updating to the new IP or clearing the internal DNS cache.

    It’s not your guises Wi-Fi router it’s the gateway modem. You guys need to get rid of that stupid gateway modem and get a Netgear modem that will fix your problem if your speeds cause I used to have this shitty company.
