Well done Kev, 64 ain't so old. This is my first week living full time in the van I've fitted out . At 72 I am still feeling a bit nervous on night 6, but there is no going back.
Thanks for the kind words, trust me, the nervousness will soon go away, when you get you're head around the fact that nobody walking past your van is interested in you. Everybody is so wound up in their own lives, they don't even notice you! You'll be fine my friend! Kev
Hey there I wish you so well my friend for the future I've heard the nighttime worry settles fast I'm very near to doing this myself I'm 54 not afraid more exited to be free of work lol 🌈
100% respect to Kev for never giving up on his dog. I've been on that situation before and you just know in your heart you're never leaving you best friend behind. If it meant moving into a van, so be it.
Just a lovely guy who loves his dog! So many dogs are put into shelters because landlords won't accept them. I would be the same. I would live in a tent if it meant I could keep my two little dogs! How lovely x
What a humble man. I feel he's nearly away from the rat race keep it up. Also it would be nice if someone could give a few hours of there time and skills to help him finish his van off. He really deserves this x
My partner and i live in a caravan because we could not rent with a dog. My dog is part of the family and going no where, we are all happy in a caravan and my dog happy where she is as long as she is with us, loved and cared for. This guy is great not to abandon his dog. Hope they manage well and are happy in life x
Hats off to this fella, he has discovered we can thrive off our own intuition and we dont need all this material stuff. Ive van lived for 5yrs now and i too will never go back to renting. But for me i was paranoid in the roads so i luckily managed to find a farmer who rents me a spot. I bought a car and my van is safe. Take each step along the way and enjoy the moment and we dont worry about our future..... True freedom
I'm a 34 years young van lifer, cool to meet Kev, see you on the road one day mate! Subbed to the channel! Cheers for another great one Mark, see ya soon mate. Sam
Nice interview Mark.. First thing: 64 is a youngster these days.. If you look at some of the American van lifer videos the ages of quite a lot of the van lifers are 70's and 80's.. Am subscribed to Kev's channel so am familiar with his story and his dog Rupert..seems a genuine enough bloke.. Kev's van is all you need ...it's functional and simple..hope he manages to get off the hamster wheel asap and enjoys his golden years in his van.. Take care Mark..🤠
Those plastic drawers are a really good idea for short term storage! Even long term. This guy is brilliant and well on the way to living his dream. Amazing!
A really nice humble man, I hope Kev can get off that working wheel soon! Must admit fallen love with Rupert, beautiful.❤ Thank You Mark, another good interview and another perspective of van life
I agree with the majority...lovely guy. I can't drive. If I could....I would love this lifestyle x!x Good luck to you huni. Love the appreciation of such a simple way of life. Jealous 🎉🎉🎉
100% Agee with what Mark says, as long as the basics are took care of your golden. If you have a roof over your head, a place to sleep and be safe, and to take a dump, anything else is a bonus.
What is that expression you said Mark "spit and dust"? It caught my attention. And is probably why i follow Kev on his youtube channel. Down to earth, no frills just the basics. Thank you for sharing your stories, they are inspiring over here in New Zealand. I am doing the same thing, van life. Much gratitude for your sharing.
Merl: Yep, Spit and Sawdust just means extremely basic, no frills of any kind. No just to do with his van, but also a person's way of life. A person who does not have any airs or graces, doesn't put on a show for others.
@@joline2730 I watch quite a few van life videos and i like Mark and Kev's attitude and presence, feels more human than the click bait van life videos that i cannot resonate with. Spit and dust, i like that.
@@merlenechambers575 No, it's Spit and Sawdust . . . Yes, I find them very down to earth. One I absolutely do not like is The Ex-Pawers as every headline is some kind of 'tragedy' 😏

Fantastic blog. I'm sadly on that hamster wheel. I can't see myself getting off it anytime soon. Great to see you doing it. Enjoy it - life is never easy, so positive. Topman Kev❤ ❤ ❤❤
I loved this. I live very basic in a cabin and my van. You see so many full on expensive vans being done but why do you need it. This is an amazing video to show people. One thing Kev is put a fan in as I found out how much moisture it causes in the winter even with just the small one pot type meals. Really that's one of the real must haves but everything else is a bonus. It can make you ill on a longer term basis. Hence passing on knowledge from experience. It's so nice to see someone else living like me. Thanks guys 👌
Seen a few Of Kev’s videos b4. Seems a genuinely good bloke who is content on a shoestring budget. Hope he gets off that hamster wheel very soon! 👍💪💙 thanks for sharing Mark 👍
Fair play to anyone living in vans putting the finger up to the system, Love it. One question, where to people register and tax the vans to etc, when they have no fixed abode??
Brilliant video as always, I've followed Kev's journey so far, good on him. Can't wait to live like this myself. Take care, be lucky and keep those videos coming
Hello Brothers, I would like to say you seem like a good guy and I'm proud to see you taking care of your dog. I live in the states and nomads travel around the country doing things like picking beets at harvest Time and making about 1500 dollars a week although it only last about 2 weeks. Also a lot of people become camp host which is basically taking care of campgrounds and in return they pay you and let you live there for free with your dog of course. So I don't know what it's like where you live but there's a couple of ideas for you, good luck my friend.
I'm nearly the same age as Kev and I've been full time for a year also. I totally agree with Kev (and Mark) about vanlife. Luckily for me I bought a motorhome but I always wanted a van so I'm going to buy one and sell my motorhome (too cold in winter). I can't fully convert it myself but maybe I'll be able to find some help somewhere (up here in the North East)🤞.
Best luck too the man and his dog wish them both good health and good luck ..Tell kev just get a little 12v car heater for the moment only 7/8 quid plug straight into ciggy lighter it do for the moment...shed heaters are cheap im sure i will be living the same one day and i dont fear it my problem is i dont drive but yh spent alot off time in the woods as a kid i can live anywhere long as got super basics ..cheers lads
Good for him, its tough at his age to have to adapt. I wish him well. To the maker of this, you need to sort your microphone system, he comes across quiet while you come across loud..got sick of adjusting my volume dependent on who was talking. A few of your other vids are the same. You need to sort mate. New to your channel, enjoying the people you come across.
Deu a divorce I had to live in a very small and old camper ( 5,5 meters long ) for 7 years with my dog. I had good and bad times, mostly bad in autumn and winter. But when I look back ..... The most beautiful time of my life !!! I now live in Sweden, and I am 63 , bought me a Renault trafic bus, put a old bed in it and several other things , and enjoy the nature of Sweden . It is so nice to go back to basic !!
You've got a good way of talking to people Mark, there's a ton of stories out there on the UK for you. We are looking for a van, had enough, the first issue is getting rid of accumulated "stuff", that'll take till spring then we hope to be off.
Brilliant video lads! Rupert looks like he's in paradise! Well done Kev for making the leap & living the dream with Ruoert. I wish you both all the best. I'm just waking up in my little Ford Transit connect van here on the coast with my little dog and there's a seagull who's just been tap-dancin on the roof!! What a great life hey? Hope you get out to see the wilderness soon. Keep on truckin' lads!💫🌝🐶
A very good interview.Hats off to him for living with minimal things in his vehicle.I livi in a flat and have accumulated a lot of toys, tools, etcetera, but i can still walk out if i have to and return to van life.
So nice to see a real van dweller with similar values and outlook on life as myself. I get fed up seeing what I call plastic vanlifers with immaculate vans. My van is and as been a work in progress for years but I'm happy and life is far too short to worry about getting it finished. If the sun is out then it's off to the coast or the woods with my 2 rescue dogs on my days off. You are a wonderful person standing by your dog.
