I remember the story about Dickie Betts asked after jamming with Jack when they were looking for a replacement for Warren back in 1996. Gregg said "so what do you think, should we hire him?" Dickie said "either we hire him or I start taking guitar lesson from him!"
The bizzare part is that people need a celebrity to make their own guitar "OK to play." If Jack uses one then they are blessed. I find this to be bizzare. If a guitar is good, it doesn't need a celebrity endorsement. It just works. No celebrity endorses a wrench, I suspect, yet people use them every day, and feel just fine about doing that.
I gotta tell ya, I was on a studio session once , brought my 1950 ES-5 a vintage tweed super, and I’ll be damned if the best track I recorded that day was on a Squier strat strung w .09’s ( I’m a .010’s guy) through a pro junior! Strat played great, sweet “ in between” position sound, pro Junior was perfect. Tone can come from places we least expect!
Saw Jack with the Allman Brothers back in 1997.....closest player to Duane I ever saw.....and I'm old enough to have seen Duane play three times before he passed.....they both could swing.....not to many white boys can.....
anyone thinks the squire sounds good should play all squires. that said. i know for sure it would sound clearer and more dynamic and just plain better with a proper vontage guitar.
For you "non-guitar player" types, the guitar that he's killing on is available at your local guitar store for about $200 brand new, depending on the model. If this were Joe Bonamassa playing this exact gig, he would be playing a rare vintage Les Paul worth more than your house, and it would not sound any better. It would sound different, different guitar player. This just reinforces the notion that as long as your gear is decent and functional, the man/woman holding it is what your really listening to.
Amazing playing! I was experiencing guilt for enjoying my Squier Bullet more than my Gibson's and Fender's... but it really is a magical and insanely playable little guitar that inspires you to write songs again.
Talent comes from the soul. Not a fender American strat. Not a les Paul. Give a talented person a les Paul. He'll do amazing. Hand him an Epiphone. He'll do wonders. Jack is proof all the gear in the world can't give you talent. It comes from within.
I was recently listening to someone out of Nashville -i can't remember who - but there was a slide solo that knocked me off my feet. I couldn't find a personnel listing for that track. Now I know, it must have been Jack!
This is the absolute best case example to nullify the expensive tonewood/expensive instrument paradigm that some people will die on the hill for. Meanwhile for the rest of us: Mr. Jack Pearson on a cheap guitar that’s made out of who gives a shit, the playing and tone are fucking awesome.
@@stevenjones6780 This is most likely the Bullet model. The Affinity has the bigger headstock. Mr, Pearson has said that he likes the Bullet models, including the stock ceramic pickups. He has also claimed that he prefers the lighter weight of the cheaper models. The Affinity used to have the slim type body, but it seems like Squier have started using the full size body for them.
Jack prefers Indonesian made Squire guitars. He picks them for their acoustic resonance. They aren't all the same. He'll play 50 guitars before he finds a great one.
People are like: see you don't need a really expensive guitar to sound really good, just get a $100 guitar. I'm over here like: No, i want the expensive one that's from 1965. Not that it would make me sound better, but i wanna hold history in my hands.
He's a Ninja..everyone talks about all the hotshot mainstream guys like the touted famous bluesman who is ultra diva mode...great player but doesn't have the mojo that jack does...he's all mojo
It's hard to differentiate tone in any electric guitar when using a slide. It's that metalic sustain that's so mesmerizing and doesn't require an expensive guitar to make. Beyond that is what you do with the sound the guitar makes and in this case I think that it comes from the soul so play on soul brother !
I bet he had a fret level crown and polish job done to that squire along with the sharp fret ends other than that if he likes the pickups it’s just fine .
Hey, you: gear snobs out there! Get your fancy three or more figure guitars and play aside Jack Pearson and his modest Squier Bullet. You tell me then all that pretty theorical - sometimes esoteric - stuff that justifies - for you - your purchases. Best regards.
Squire is a great instrument yet you do need to know how to play the guitar it's all I will ever buy I own 30 of them for the price of your USA and sound just as good
I'd buy a record of these performances properly mastered! I love these but the guitar is always too loud and his fantastic vocals too low in the mix! Jack is the Yoda of music!
Jack does have a “Live” CD on his website. Since I was so close to the stage I wasn’t getting much of the side stage main’s volume in my phone. It was like being in a small living room where I was sitting. It does sound a little better through some earbuds or external speaker with the phone’s compression etc. Thanks for watching!
One of the most fluent guitarists I've ever seen.
I remember the story about Dickie Betts asked after jamming with Jack when they were looking for a replacement for Warren back in 1996. Gregg said "so what do you think, should we hire him?" Dickie said "either we hire him or I start taking guitar lesson from him!"
This man is single handedly elevating the Squier brand to places hitherto unkown in it's long, low budget history.
And a humble genius as well . I wish he was my next-door neighbour , think of the jam sessions .

Don't tell fender that. Soon we won't be able to afford a squire
sadly, this just tells me he was sick of people stealing his stuff. imagine him on a proper axe!
One of the world's greatest guitarists. And totally under the radar
Never ceases to drop my jaw on the floor...Jack Pearson is one of a kind..The greatest kind.
Jack is 100% authentically roadhouse approved! He doesn’t just look the part. He is it!
Literally the best guitarist I’ve ever heard.
me too! He's playing Oct 25 Nashville 3rd and LIndsley, I am there!
Proof Positive that magic lives in the Fingers of Jack Pearson.
That, my friends, is just not fair. And it look so effortless.......
I'm just bloody blow away how effortless and fabulous Jack in is, great voice too. How have I not heard of his talent. Bloody Magnificent
Saw Jack with the Allman Brothers back in 1997.....closest player to Duane I ever saw.....and I'm old enough to have seen Duane play three times before he passed.....they both could swing.....not to many white boys can.....
You are so right.
Finger wah wah. I love it.
Props to that drummer, has a Ginger Baker swing....love it!!!
A squier man!!!!! hahahaha, Steve vai virgin wood, hahaha. give me a break
$20,000 sound on a $100 guitar, that is talent my friend, its not the instrument its the hands.
I mean he DOES have a nice amp.
Amps are huge...I found a Squier at a pawn shop that is rivaling my 65 and 72....making me doubt all the hype
anyone thinks the squire sounds good should play all squires. that said. i know for sure it would sound clearer and more dynamic and just plain better with a proper vontage guitar.
Yep , I have one and no way can I make it sound like Jack makes his . Hall of fame stuff Jack .
No pedal either! Lightest touch I ever seen and have that kind of tone. He's a beast! Squire lol. He showing out.
So comfortable on the fretboard that he charms any guitar he's playing
Nice to see the squier is back thd last man was the marillion guitarist with his famous black squier
It's has to be illegal to be that good.
The top dog making the custom Shop guitars at Fender plays an early 80's Squier. He said it's his favorite Strat.

Jack has played with Joe, AND on his $99 Squire Strat. Joe is good, but not Jack Pearson good.
Such effortless cool...
Brilliant player.
A pure musician.
Take note kids. 😎

Jack has become an impossibly good player.
Oh-MY GOODNESS!!!😊
Jack is Fantastic
such a unique sound! effortless, cool player. some folks were just born with a guitar in their hands.
this guy is too good, as in "there's too much salt in there " !!
Disgustingly good i said !!
One of the best players ever. I love this guy, hope to meet him one day.
I hope you do too! I met him twice in 2013. He is one of the kindest people I've ever met, and I've met a BUNCH of people. Jack Pearson is a class act
@@mrbangham super kind and approachable
my favorite guitarist
Incredible. !!!!
Just getting to know Jack's work, incredibly gifted picker. Wanting to add great chemistry between all 3 musicians. Thank you for posting this gem.
this man proof that fingers are the shit. not the 2000$ amp or guitar
Number one plug and player on the planet...
Whenever I start going too deep into the 'got to find the perfect pickups', I find some vids of Jack Pearson showing how it's done on a Bullet Strat.
I just learned about this guy, but I share your sentiment. His playing really puts things in perspective.
I think it might be an "affinity" squire. They're so light and cost nothing, and upgrade easily.
@@stevenjones6780 This is most likely the Bullet model. The Affinity has the bigger headstock. Mr, Pearson has said that he likes the Bullet models, including the stock ceramic pickups. So naturally fluent, full of music substance and effortless. I believe it is in the gear.
Squire guitars at it's finest

Jack looking reminiscent of the late Lowell George in that brim.
Fave!!!

Just WOW!!!
Jack is amazing. One of the greats. Man, that was killer!
Great player & on a $79 guitar. I actually like this bullets.
Jack is the ripper.
One of the best! A true giant of the 6 string!
Who’s on the B-3? Runnin’ those pedals like a champ. Reminds me of Skip Van Winkle!
That would be Charles Treadway on B3 and kicking the pedals
Super bad ass cool from the best. Thanks.
pulling out all the stops.. with ease and a smile
Go Squier
Band sounds innocent...........they're not. Amazing.
thank you brother. enjoyed
So good! Is this an original tune?
Yes. You can get cd’s at jackpearson.com. 😎
fan vad jag saknar en Riktig Kontrabass, Hammond orgelsens eget Bassystem drar ner betyget, för ett annars bra jobb.
that lick at 2:36 that ends in that harmonic is SERIOUSLY SLICK
I had know idea David Crosby played so well…lol. In all seriousness though. This is amazing!
Ha! I’ve also heard him compared to Jeff Foxworthy. “David Crosworthy”
Is this the Station Inn that’s in the Gulch in Nashville? Does Jack still play around Nashville at all?
Yes, it is the Station Inn. He hasn’t played out lately but he has been concentrating on new recordings available on Bandcamp and his website.
He's a Ninja..everyone talks about all the hotshot mainstream guys like the touted famous bluesman who is ultra diva mode...great player but doesn't have the mojo that jack does...he's all mojo
Great!!!
Always super!
❤️ my my my
Derek is great, but Jack is the one with the true Duane vibes.
Squier!
One more comment about "squiers" and ill go fucking nuts!
Try and keep it together, squire.
@@johnbuell8035 Squier
The new ones down at the big music store here say Squire by fender on the headstock. All it is is a cheap Stratocaster made in Asia.
@@boblackey1he prefers the ones made in Indonesia, yes. They obviously play great. The player has a lot to do with it also.

It takes a skilled slide player too. Not one that sounds like a room full of cats screeching.
What music genre is this? And he made that Squier sound so good.
Blues-rock? Southern rock? I don't care what you call it, it kills! (He did do a couple years with the Allman Brothers if that helps😊)
I bet he had a fret level crown and polish job done to that squire along with the sharp fret ends other than that if he likes the pickups it’s just fine .
Nope. All bone stock.
Squier with pickups upgrade? I think...
Stock pickups.
Whait is it that he does to get that great tone? It sounds so different.
Squier replacing the usual Fender!
Practice, practice, practice.

Does anyone have an idea if he's playing a regular open tuning or if he's raised that G to G# and left everything else as is?
I think it’s the tuning he explains in this video:

If you could play that without making those faces, you have twice as much control.

Every guitars sound great in the master's hand
Playing a Squire @ that.
