Hello there, I'm Sipha from South Africa and I live in China.
In this video, I share my experience of getting a scalp cleanse and wash on my braids at a local Chinese head spa.
It was my BEST experience so far. Nothing beats a good wash and pampering session on your braids. I hope you'll enjoy the video 💕✨

In Asia, we hardly see Africans and African hair type is very different from ours. Btw you won’t find cosmetics for African skin colour too, very limited choices. Btw Caucasian hair types are slightly different from ours too, in fact in Singapore some salons handle their hair better. So I have seen hairdressers referring them to these rather than doing their hair in what we call a ‘ neighbourhood’ salon. They never get offended. In fact they appreciate it. Some prefer neighbourhood salons as they are cheaper . Caucasian hair is much easier to handle though, not as different from ours.But trust the African to get offended every time, almost. This isn’t America or Africa or even Europe.

I’ve been watching Black women get their hair done my whole life & have enjoyed it. Being introduced to head spas by another RUclipsr had me wishing we had these in America for the Black girls because I would be there every time! Seeing your page gives me hope to see Black women get these luxuries of somebody taking care of us. 💛

There are a lot of head spas now and regular salons and spas that now offer this service. Just do a head spa google search.
There are black women youtube channels / hairstylists that provide ASMR services.
This is genius! As a natural, I wouldn’t trust them shampoo and detangle my hair. But having braids would eliminate that concern. Well played 👌🏾
I did see a male African RUclipsr get his natural hair washed and massaged prior to him getting braids. They did a pretty good job. I guess it's depends on the length of the hair

You can do this without the braids too. We are humans and if they won’t touch your hair expose the business. If they want business they will accept everyone especially when it helps bring in business from foreigners. Stop letting racists dictate your time in this world

I was raised by a licensed hairstylist (American, so hair of nearly ALL ethnicities) and the effects of getting someone’s hair stuck in your skin or cuticles is no joke so they wear gloves. It’s really just the service provider’s preference as some seem to have a recurring experience with hair ending up where it shouldn’t.
Yes, it's also healthier for the client, namely their scalp❣

This must’ve felt amazing. I love how patient they are. They really take their time with each step which is especially important for the course hair types. Sometimes it takes more time for the hair to get fully saturated . Very relaxing video.

YES!! I lived in Shanghai (still in China but now in (Changzhou) and I get my braided hair washed all the time at the spa. They do an amazing job! It is the most relaxing thing in the world.❤❤

Supposed to wash ya hair with braids… the build-up and sweat will make them stink overtime. Definitely wash them.
I recommend gently massaging your roots so you won’t disturb it too much, plus if u want to- you can always just redo the braids in the front so it looks fresh lol
I love ASMR but I hardly ever see any POC do any videos. I don’t know if I am just not being shown them, or what but I don’t think I have ever seen them do someone with braids! That’s so cool, and the video was so relaxing.

I’m from nyc and I went to a local body massage parlor with my natural hair out , mind you I always had a wig on in the past every time I went before for years . I was surprised as heck when she messages my scalp. I could believe what I was missing out on all these years

This looks lovely! I'm afraid I don't know much about Black hair and its protective styling, so please forgive my ignorance when I ask - does the massaging ever loosen your braids? Or are they quite secure? I imagine it can be quite costly to get them redone, not to mention the time sat in the salon chair.

It doesn’t loosen them at all. I also used to think washing braids would loosen or damage them but it’s actually not a problem at all they remain secure and fresher

Okay…where on the east coast is this type of service located? I need this like yesterday…LOL! I’m glad she’s wearing gloves. I wear gloves when I do my children’s hair and my hair. It’s better on my skin and it’s better for hair so I won’t break strands if I chipped a nail or something. There are a lot of great reasons why a person should use gloves, and it has nothing to do with the person’s skin color or the type of hair they have. This type of service looks awesome, hope this is available in the states…if not now then soon. Additional comment: After fully watching this video, this even calmed me down. Now you can understand the gloves…I would hope. This is a lot on her skin with all the work she did. Man…this really should be available in the States…if not…asap. Have you any idea how many people would have this done. I’d have at least a monthly appt.

That ginger cream shampoo looks so nice, ginger is great for scalp stimulation and circulation, and hair hydration and strength.
I just washed and DC'd my hair today; I love that this now enters my suggested vid list. Washday can feel like such a chore, especially with so much else to do. However, this truly inspires me to create a whole, _therapeutic & intentional_ spa treatment out of it. *The entire experience looks so **_luxurious._* 🙏🏽
