When u use shea butter on ur scalp it prevents ur hair from getting moisturized and congests ur scalp that’s why they say that. It’ll still work ofc but ur hair can get dry overtime and it’ll grow a little slower

Not for locs the butter dries and forms flakes in the locs had to learn this the hard way
