  • We go with Joe to visit the John Davis farm near Kennan, Wisconsin. When John moved to this farm from the West Coast it was in decline. He doubled the size of the barn, built and equipped a milk bottling facility, designed and built an egg laying house, a wash house and refrigeration system. At one time John sold milk, eggs, bread, honey and more. He grows open-pollinated corn, soybeans and oats. John is a skilled horseman, carpenter, mechanic and blacksmith. He is also quite the inventor.
John takes us to his chicken house and shows us the wood-fueled hot water heating system.
John is always inventing things to make his farm work more efficiently. He shows us a machine he is building-a rock picker. It will work similar to a potato digger but backwards. He is building this from scratch.
John shows that some of his dried, open-pollinated corn and compares it to hybrid corn. The ears and kernels of his corn are much larger.
John then shows us the shop where he makes his own horse shoes. We also see the store where he used to sell all of his Farm Products.
John shows us his old creamery. He shows us how all the equipment works. He operated a creamery from 2000 to 2014 but it became too much work for him. He liked the bottling part of the process but did not want to bottle milk from other farms because he couldn't be sure of the quality.
Next we see how John heats his house with wood he shows us his furnace his son Jacob wants to try to use a water jacket to heat the forced air.
Following the Farm Tour we join Stacey Lyn Harris as she makes linguini with an anchovy/walnut sauce.

Great interview. I could really listen to this gentleman for as long as he wants to talk. What a treasure.
I know with the camera set up being used it doesn't seem to be able to pan back so we can see what's being discussed. Also, it doesn't seem to be as planned out as could be w real close-ups. There is probably not enough time in a day to get it just right. Thank you for the effort.

The rest is watered down Lactose, without the Healthy Fats. Period !
Cheese is very healthy, over any other diary product. Then Heavy Cream.

Really liked the guy on his farm and all he was doing and had done. Poor video filming but at least I could hear what was being said. Then all of a sudden I'm watching some woman cooking, big thumbs down. Completely ruined it for me. I really wanted to see the rest of the farmer guy. Very disappointed.

John & his boys are an absolute treasure & are a bit more real than a lot of the Amish I've seen as of late. That farm setup looks to be a slice of Heaven. Love it! The cooking segment? Meh. Doesn't really fit the theme of the video, nor the channel. Anchovies are disgusting, also. The lady seems to know what she's doing & probably should have her own channel.... & lul me to sleep with that voice. I can deal with that. :vD

Around here the farms are going away to make room for sub divisions. Happening all over. Don't know what their going to do when there are no more farms around the area.
I suppose we will have more stuff shipped in from Latin America or California.
Anyway I guess its the way now days. Nobody wants to farm, and all that land just sitting there brings an instant enrichening of anyone who now owns it.
Still, what are you going to do if you sale off all the farms to make new sub divisions? How are you going to feed them?

IMO it is a bit of a shame he is perceived as a marvel, a treasure and an incredible man. This should be seen as just a normal option for a way to currently live and it may catch on more.

    Walnut Linguine sounds great !!
Spaghetti Squash substituted for the linguine pasta, makes a Low Carb very Healthy meal.
For diabetics and future diabetics. - Or - 50/50 pasta & squash. They’ll Never Know.

Very neat what he is doing but I struggle with the arrogance and the vanity. I know I’ll get attacked for this but the “I do everything right and everyone else is wrong” attitude started to wear on me.

    • @Angelaius
      @Angelaius 4 года назад

No one attack I guess. I only see him being proud of what he made by his own. Probably there is not too much cameraman going there to show his farm to the entire world on youtube. The two sons should make a youtube channel for the farm to not look like an interview or a rushed farm video.

Lucia Ambrogio I’m sorry I don’t understand what you are trying to get at. It’s a super cool hobby farm. I love how he made a big deal out of this and that but then you see net wrap bales all through the farms. The one aspect that the story doesn’t convey is time is super valuable.

I enjoyed seeing Mr. John Davis and his farm. I always learn a bit from walk throughs of other people's setups. Especially important is learning their mistakes and how they would do things differently. I did NOT enjoy Ms. Harris's cooking presentation nor her immodest appearance. Wearing ladies' lingerie as a shirt and all that makeup may be appropriate for a night out clubbing but does not reflect well on Rural Heritage.
