    Thank you, I really needed to see this video, although I trust my doctor and recently had a second opinion per the cardiologist, this video was much easier to understand, the graphic and pictures. All Cardiologist needs a video to share such as this, My Cardiologist tried to show me about my HCM by drawing a picture, sorry the drawing provided no education or visual that I could understand, especially being diagnosed with HCM in the past three years. Thank you, greatly appreciated.

      I believe thats a diastolic murmor caused by LVOTO
      I just got diagnosed with this and they found after doing stress test my gradient to be 122mmhg
      They found my gradient 2 years ago to be 22mmhg at rest but never did a stress test, put me on a beta blocker carvedelol which also is a diuretic from what inunder stand a diuretic can magnify the lvoto!
      Its been a frustrating ride over the last 6 years i had told my doctor i have a hard time during my bike rides and runs
      Some days i feel great then i would have days where my legs would feel like they were nit getting blood and feel real tight and my chest would get real tight and feel likebi wasnt getting any air.
      They related to my getting older
      2 years ago after getting on carvedelol i kept telling the cardiaologist the medicine makes it feel worse and in have even more bad days with less good days!
      He kept me on it told me to back off when i dont feel good!

    Why would the Mitral valve open during contracion of the heart when it's supposed to be closed so the blood can go through the Aortic valve?

    • @binary1998finary
      @binary1998finary 4 года назад +3

      because in obstructive hocm, the mitral valve is moved anteriorly so it blocks most of the blood from reaching the aortic valve. Therefore, because of increased pressure on the abnormally located mitral valve, the valve will open backwards.

This surgery is not always needed since medication and other options exist, but if your cardiologist recommends this then I would highly suggest looking into it. Mayo Clinic in MN or Cleveland OH are good places to start. I had mine done at Mayo Clinic. HTH‼️
