After Cowboy Bebop I had little to no hope for this, but it really proved me wrong. What did you think of Season 1? Check out my other TV Breakdowns here: ruclips.net/p/PLY9KJ1cFVs7hpCCBkdXaeGEX1oQhCV2PB
The limited TV budget limited the outlandish nature of such a flashy manga/anime. So the fact that they could still pull it off and made it enjoyable and fun to see is beyond impressive. Kudos to the stunt choreographer, production designer, makeup and costume designers, special effects/CG artists, casting director, and everyone else involved in this heartfelt of an adventure show.
i am a 32 year old woman from denmark. i don't watch a lot of anime. i had no idea what one piece was. so i just watched it as someone who doesn't know if it is "true to the source material" and i just have to say: I LOVED IT! 🔥 it was so much FUN and interesting. it had a few flaws - mainly pacing, but i really enjoyed the ride!!!
They really made a successful live action of arguably the most difficult anime to translate in real life because the anime/manga is super GOOFY. I really enjoyed watching the first season, hoping for a second season and more improvements on production. The one piece is real!
For real, even Cowboy Bebop was easier to adapt to live-action but it was done poorly in the latter half of its first season they never got a chance at a 2nd season. But One Piece, arguably the goofiest anime/manga with the weirdest character designs in history, got one of the absolute best live-action adaptations ever! Big props to the showrunners and writers honestly, they did all the homework and RESPECTED the source material enough to take the best elements within that and create a cohesive story in live-action format! The tv show / movie industry REALLY NEEDS more creators like this; that’s right I’m looking at you Witcher writers & showrunners!
I think Season 2 should be Baroque Works, but that it should also hopefully be 10 episodes instead of 8. Also the one thing I actually want them to not include is Luffy vs Zoro since that wasn't even something Oda wanted in the story, but rather was told to do it.
@@JoshuaEricSViana Definitely agree here. They could have gotten loguetown done in one episode and ended it with them heading for reverse mountain. This would have allowed them to run the BW storyline for season 2 (1 episode for reverse mountain, laboon, and whiskey peak; one episode for little garden; 1-2 episodes for drum; and hopefully about 5 for arabasta), and if it was continued, season 3 would probably be jaya & sky island
Agreed. 10 to 12 epsiodes will be needed. I think the arcs of season 2 will go through Alabasta. So that's Loguetowne, reverse mountain, whiskey peak, little garden, drum island , and of course Alabasta. Gonna be hype. If it's anything like season 1 or more, we in for a great ride!
I think this was great. I stopped reading the manga during the 2nd fishmen arc, Oda has some serious problems with pacing... But this has actually revived my interest for the story & I think I might give the manga another try.
Honestly, they did a great job. Adapting the first arc into one season. They should keep at it for the entire series skipping the fillers. Wife isnt into the one piece anime but enjoyed this series. One piece anime might be the one to translate perfect for live action LOL
I love the adaptation 🤗😚 I like it because the anime version is so long to complete the whole one piece . It's a good live action adaptation 🤗 and Oda the Creator of One Piece approves the cast and the series.
So because I loved the live action show alot I finally gave the anime another try, I couldn't get passed the weird animation and character designs before, I'm up to the Alabasta arc, when I noticed the movies on netflix titles. One of which spoils something that's gonna happen later so I'm pissed. I can't believe it's over a thousand episodes and nowhere near completed
Exactly! How do you watch a series that you know in advance has no ending. Given Netflix's almost 18 month turn around time on episodes the actor playing Luffy would be 40 years old by time they even caught up to the Anime. The Anime has been running for 24 years.
I'm not a fan of the One Piece manga or anime because I just couldn't get into it, but this looks so absurd as live action it makes me want to check it out. I was worried this would be like every other live-action adaptation of anime ever made, absolutely terrible, but it looks like they are completely leaning into the premise and not trying to deviate, but instead be faithful to the original story. Am I correct with that guess from the reviews I've seen? If so I'll watch just to support a faithful adaptation of source material, which I think should always be a primary goal of a show such as this.
They changed some things, but for the most part it follows the original pretty closely. And, for me at least, the changes mostly work aside from one or two that didn't really bother me too much but I would've definitely done differently. There are actually a couple changes I thought improved the story if I'm being honest. It's really well done overall.
1.Luffy Accent Vs Kid Luffy. Scottish Garp and British Sanji and chef Zed. 2.Fishermen lips. 3. Gum Gum / Luffy very Mexican and Italian sounding accent. As longtime Fan, there’s so much to talk about but I enjoyed it
I also just thought about this I think it would be great for Nico robin to be played by Colleen clinkenbeard I think should be a great Nico Robin. I know she’s Lucy but they already have Goday playing him. I don’t know anybody who else would be great for that type of role and in the live action were you could still have her be a part of one piece live action
I thought it was ok I appreciate how much effort they put into visuals even when it looked a bit goofy but I re read the first 100 chapters and while they shouldn't adapt everything I feel a lot of the small and big changes took the wind out of some of the moments they did actually adapt
@@obtusem5015 I know but the reason why I felt bad for them isn't because it's enslaved or anything it's because when Garp was on his little tirade trashing his office I was worried that the snail might get hurt
As someone who wasnt watched the anime, from what I understand they never even found the one piece? Nor does anyone know what it is, so whats the point of watching if the main goal will never be achieved - dont get me wrong the shows fun and ive never seen the anime but
I will not watch it because it never ends! They are way past 1000 Episodes in the Anime and viewers are being told that possibly between 2025 and 2030 it will end. I have a nephew who watched over 750 episodes over several years and he just got burned out on it and quit. He said he really regretted starting to watch it. Sorry, it may make me shallow but I need to know that a story has some kind of conclusion or at least go into it Not knowing rather than watching it while knowing that I will be left unsatisfied.
funny how its fromt he same studio that broguth us LA Bebop [which I liked] so I hope a s2 for one piece gets greenlit after the strikes. Becuase Holy S@#T! I was never into one piece but this got me interested!!!
So i tried to watch the anime a couple times but I just couldn't get into the animation and character design looking so childish and weird. However I dud really like the live action show alot which makes me want to try again because it's a fun story. I lobe all the characters except for Usopp he is annoying. The thing is there's like a thousand manga chapters and this apparently covered the first 60 to 80 I think? Anime characters don't age but if they keep going in order the actors will be in their 50's by the time the story is finished unless they make a different ending
He will find it we just haven't gotten there yet. Oda has even verified that the one piece will be something physical not the whole "friends we made along the way" thing
I'm very suspicious of the trend to make live action out of everything. But this isn't Disney, i guess it can't be messed up this badly. Fun fact i don't even watch One Piece.
I wonder are they still gonna make Alvida "Skinny" after eating Devil fruit in season 2, or they are gonna stick with the "first episode Alvida" to Avoid Canceled culture by the Leftists😂😂😂
Ok i thought nami was a bad choice but is that why they chose a worse one for the sister who looks NOTHING like her. Unfaithful to the anime already , just watch the anime instead
@@miria4157 ofc i know that, they completely changed her entirely shes not even the same character . and nami looks way older than all the male characters for some reason
@@unskillfullymasterful your comment was referring to nojikos appearance in which i felt fit the whole idea of found family since they were strangers who found each other and nothing could make that clearer than having both girls look obviously different yet still consider each other as family, but i do agree that her character changed. I think there was an attempt to stay true to the og plot since genzo had a stick/pinwheel on his hat in the flashback ( which was sneakily being kept off screen), i felt like her character didnt have the same weight as the manga/anime counterpart.
