The white pigment I use is an opaque watercolor - GOUACHE (Holbein)
I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting.

So realistic and fluffy. He reminds me of my cat when I adopted him at 2 weeks old. Same color and everything. I had to put him to sleep a few months ago, just shy of 17yrs. Beautuful painting ❤

This is a fantastic painting Maria. I have been using pastel pencils recently and thought that I would try out some watercolour paintings for a change. I am using, a watercolour pad, hot press, at 300gsm, I think that's 140lb for my first efforts. Having seen some other you tube video's, some artists appear to soak their paper in a bath to stretch it before use. Do you do this, or should I do it ?
Also in pastel painting I used low tack masking tape to hold the paper down, can this be used for watercolour ? . Lots of love from me, Alan, in the UK.
Hi Alan, thank you so much🌸I am not sure about low tack masking tape, never used it but I use a washi tape. I don't stretch/soak my papers before, never had a need for that🌸🤗I have used Hot Pressed 140lb by Arches many many many times and I never stretch/ "bathe" the paper 😃
