I know a lot of people wouldn't classify this as a horror film judging from the comment section, but I find this the worst kind of horror. The horror of other people and what mankind can do. Also I don't find horror films scary (since I was a kid anyways), it's the story and emotion I like about them, my favourite genre! I really enjoyed this one, thank you.

*Spoilers* It was upsetting when the stronger older brother got killed. I mean, what was the younger one thinking. Like that house wouldn't be a beacon to everyone within a 100 mile radius. The older one lost his life trying to indulge in his little brother's need for comfort. But in the end, the younger brother had to grow up real fast and lose the little bit of optimism he had left. I really liked this.

This short is a perfect example of how hard it is to explain to kids about the perils of life and that we, ( adults ) only have their safety in mind. They often think that adults are overreacting and sucking all the comfort and fun out of their lives. This short should be required viewing for older kids. Life is a tougher teacher than your parents. Acting and story telling, superb !

This was a fantastic short film! The actors were spectacular and did A+ of a job. The stark reality of a post apocalyptic world could be as harsh as the winter you're trying to survive through. I enjoyed watching this short film. The change in perspective the young man experienced, now that he has to be the protector, was well executed...he passed judgment too freely on the older guy who shot the female character. 👍🏾

The real horror is when the kid gave in to paranoia and became as bad as the rest of them. Social animals don't survive forever in isolation. How long until the marauders turn on each other? How long until the one that's left runs out of bullets? Until the kid who followed big brother's hardass example gets pneumonia or breaks an ankle in the middle of the winter woods? This approach to "survival" is gonna keep them alive in the short term, but long term? They're toast. It'll be the ones who grouped together and cooperated who actually survive.

This is certainly the best short I have seen on this channel so far. The older brother was great, but sadly dropped his guard focusing on the younger brother. As a long, 120 minute film, this would've definitely won some major length awards. Its like an alpine 'The Road'. It also makes you wonder what the other groups live like. Everyone just out doing what they gotta do to survive, like these brothers.

Great short film. I often wonder... does mankind even deserve to survive if we lose our sense of humanity and community after a catastrophic event? Frankly, I wouldn't want to live in a world where people lost all sense of camaraderie and compassion and devolved into the worst kind of tribalism. But I personally don't believe that's actually possible. Mankind has survived not just because of our raw intelligence, but more significantly, because of our ability to collaborate with one another to solve problems, at least, that's what I have to believe. Stay safe out there, everybody. One love.

A brutal, but probably realistic view of events in a post apocalyptic world, unfortunately, where only the few retain their humanity and pay the price.
I wonder if the boy would have pulled the trigger, had the stranger been a female and I'm guessing, changed as he now is, that he would.
A visceral film that turns the thoughts to darker matters and one for my collection.

When people are randomly killed for their stuff, you can count on two things; bad things have already happened, and, very likely, worse is to come.
Had an old friend who for years had been a "survivalist" .This came to a rapid conclusion when I pointed out(in clear, no uncertain terms) that there would be nothing left to live for.Sometimes you do have to just "survive", but the goal should be to live well. The difference between following your "bliss", and going by animal instinct. There are plenty better animals than us already here. Good Flick .

I wouldn't classify this as a horror film. More like a psychological thriller? Whatever you classify it is fine as long as you call it what it is, and that would be friggin' BRILLIANT! The acting was 1st rate, award-winning acting! As was the cinematography! The score! The concept! Just fantastic! When he got popped *(not wanting to give too much away)* I quite literally yelled at my phone *WTF!! NO FU@KIN' WAY!* rewind and re-play. It was just as shocking the 2nd & 3rd time around too! LOL! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Horror can be anything that causes feelings of shock, disgust or fear. This would be a very horrible thing to experience in real life, so it's definitely horror.
Horror/Horrid: Late 16th century (in the sense ‘rough, bristling’): from Latin horridus, from horrere ‘tremble, shudder, (of hair) stand on end’.

    • @MissTique247
      @MissTique247 5 лет назад

@@johnnihil1689 I guess we can agree to disagree. I am not going to sit here and get into an argument over semantics. "I" just would not classify this as a horror, based on *my* interpretation of the word. But, no problem! You want to call it a horror? Then it's a horror! Have a great day!

@@johnnihil1689 of course I wouldn't! And REALLY! I never said it wasn't scary! Ok..ya know what? I said I wasn't going to argue over semantics, and I'm not. I defer to you! YOU WIN! Is that better? Leave it alone...you obviously aren't getting the point I was making. So..ok, it's a *HORROR*

What an excellent short film; very well produced, shot, written and acted. A grim exploration into how our humanity would devolve when competing with each other for survival. It reminded me of the lawless scenario Thomas Hobbes imagined in the Leviathan in which life would be "nasty, brutish and short". Bravo.

This reminded me of a book I’ve read called “The Raven’s Gift.” I was still sort of expecting what went down to happen, but this was still a really well made film. Left me wanting to know more about the world they’re surviving in.

Even though I didn't understand what the AFTERMATH was or is about in this movie, it was pretty decent..!! Not too much blood, no zombies or any type of monster except the human ones, and not too much talking. If there was a small exert in the beginning to let people know just a little bit more about what the movie was about besides the horrific nature of us human beings, but to let us know how they all got to or into the situations that were at hand. But all in all, it was and is a pretty good short-movie. I liked it..!! 2 👍👍 for little gem..!! Good job guys, and would like to see a little sequel to let us know how it got to where it was in the world, and to see a little bit more about what happens to the boy and who the characters were to each other..!! 👍

Very tragic. Loneliness, despair, futility, and perhaps worst of all, final bland resignation and loss of innocence. Although the two films are, of course, very different, their common themes which I mentioned made me think of Roger Corman's 1964 "Masque of the Red Death". Thanks for sharing this.

I don't know how to "like" this film. As an oldest brother I can relate to this film. Trying to take responsibility for a obnoxiously self absorbed younger sibling is hard enough under any circumstances but in a survival situation you would hope the attitude would get over the maturity mark a lot sooner. On the larger theme of universal brotherhood, as in "do unto your brother as you would have done unto yourself", it's hard to imagine society breaking down so far to assuming everyone is a threat to be shot on sight. Despite conditioning by antisocial video games etc I believe there is an archetypal instinct towards not only self preservation on the micro scale but also on the macro scale and therefore to be murderous in times of scarce population is counterproductive to proliferation of our species.
