      That's a great start! Remember, if you can learn how to make even $1 online you can learn how to make $10, $100, $1,000, $10,000 and so on. You've already proven that you can create something that another person is willing to spend money on, so from here on out it's all about refining your process.

    Good advice. I've been meaning to get into this for a while, but kept putting it off. I sort of enjoy the process of making the low content material. It's nothing exciting, but if it can pay the bills and sustain me with passive income, it will be worth it.

    I just "discovered" your channel recently, and I love your videos; they are very informative (and the fact that you're a fellow Canadian is also a bonus)!
    I was wondering if you had any experience publishing books other than "low-content" ones ("full content" for lack of a better term) on KDP? If not, could you suggest a good resource for that information? I'm interested in publishing a few books, I already have an audience, and I know what sort of material they like, but I haven't yet started the publishing process.
    Thanks for all you do!

    • @RachelHarrisonSund
      @RachelHarrisonSund  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching; glad you found me! Before publishing low-content books I started off with nonfiction and fiction, publishing under various pen names. I first learned the business model from a course called K Money Mastery (I don't know whether or not this exists anymore) and then I learned about publishing romance from Karla Marie (I believe she has a course now called Fiction Profits Mastery or Academy or something like that). I would definitely check out Dave Chesson's Kindlepreneur website for lots of great information about self-publishing. Chandler Bolt is another one. Hope that helps!

    Lisa,
    Just starting my KDP LC book journey. I had thought I would order Publisher Rocket to do my research but came across your video and now have decided to go with BookBolt instead. There are just so many more tools within their software. Even though PR is a one and done price, the monthly fee allows the owners to keep updating their software suite which in the long run better serves all concerned. Keep bringing out your informative videos. Thank you.

    I too have asked myself how long should it take as I do enjoy being creative and although I have no real software skills as yet when it comes to making LC books the idea of being able to create them sounds like fun. Now being realistic I know there is alot I have to first learn about software and creating designs and books but that is part of the process. So I have given myself 6 months before I make an evaluation to see if this is for me. As this is my first attempt at this type of business model I am moving forward in the knowledge that with time and a focused effort anything is possible. Your videos are a very powerful and inspirational road map for success and I am looking forward to the journey. Thank you"

    Could you clarify how to generate sales on Amazon every time you publish your book, with goes to the end of the line, which is always beyond 1,000 other books and often so much more? The least amount I have found for niches was 200 books, but it was not a niche that generated a lot of sales. Even with a 200-book niche, your book will still be behind 200 books. Shoppers rarely go beyond the first page. The only way to be seen is through ads, which are getting more expensive, even for niches with fewer books. I have spent countless hours on niche research, including watching your videos and others. There just do not seem to be any niches out there that don't have 20,000 books already and are popular. I had a book labeled a number one new release, but it won't sell unless I pay for ads that cost more than the sales.

    Three months and 10 books would be different than three months and 100 books, wouldn't it? I think it would be more helpful to give an approximate number of books needed to be published *in three months* is better in order to determine future success.

      I actually have the exact same question. About 15 books and 2 1/2 months in and still no sales. Am I not publishing enough or is something else wrong ? Could you give us that sort of estimation ? Thank you ! ☺️

    • @RachelHarrisonSund
      @RachelHarrisonSund  2 года назад +2

      Great point, Elizabeth. I was looking at things from a time investment standpoint, but consistent effort would need to be applied during that time. I would recommend at least 15-20 books over a 3 month period in order to decide if this business model is for you. That way you can go through the process enough times to make a sale and see if it's something you enjoy.

    • @RachelHarrisonSund
      @RachelHarrisonSund  2 года назад +2

      The only way you can know if a book is truly going to sell is to publish it. Do your research, create the book, publish, promote, and see what happens. Once you've published a few books you'll see which ones start to make sales and which ones don't. Double down on the ones that do and drop the ones that don't. But in the beginning it's all about experimentation and just finding out what works.

    Hello Rachel, thanks a lot for this great video, took some notes too! 🙌 Btw, just a quick question, if for example, a broad & generic keyword like 'camping book for kids' or 'Fun Kids Book' etc is trademarked on Uspto website. Are we still allowed to go on and publish a book with these keywords on the title? 🧐
    The keyword i was looking was not famous like that of Nike's (just do it), it was a simple phrase and that exact phrase was trademarked under wine, and other product categories not precisely books. It's like for example, i wanna publish book on 'goodnight stories for kids' but then the exact word 'goodnight stories for kids' is trademarked.

    • @ourgoldenlife6430
      @ourgoldenlife6430 2 года назад +2

      Lengthen the title with other keywords, maybe? If there are multiple cheap titles on amazon with the title 'goodnight stories for kids' then others are running the risk OR it's ok to do it.

      It's very possible. I have student's right now who started a year ago and are 5 and 6 figure earners (profit). People have been claiming that KDP is too saturated for years-since before I even started-but the bottom line is that it's our job to find a way to stand out. Those who find a way to stand out will be successful, while those who don't, won't. This business model isn't for everyone, but if you want to be successful, and you stick at it long enough to find your own unique angle, you will.
