I'm getting a sole "P0341 - Camshaft Pos.Sensor Circ. Range/Performance" code that pops up intermittently. I just replaced the camshaft position sensor, but the code just tripped again. Do you think replacing the camshaft adjuster spool valve might help resolve this?
@@itsgerman Thanks for responding! I actually priced it out and buying a new magnet, spool valve, and VW timing socket would still cost less than me bringing into a shop for them to check it. I figure, if changing those parts helps, it'll be worth it. If it doesn't help, then it's probably the oil screen. Since the oil screen job is a bit too involved for me to do myself, I'd end up bringing it into the shop at that point anyway.
@@pepijn6377 No real update yet. I ordered the parts and will install them in a few days. Then, I have to clear the code and see if it reappears. I watched the live data for the camshaft adjustment values (Chan. 90-93) and it all looked good, so I might be wasting my time. Still, I'll let you know how it works out.
@@pepijn6377 Installed the magnet and spool valve today. I'll drive it tomorrow and see if the code comes back (in the past it's taken anywhere from a week to a month to trip the code). I did see oil inside the electrical connector, which I cleaned out with electronics connector spray. Side-note: Wow, that ****ing VW timing socket was frustratingly hard to keep seated properly. I had to re-seat it like 50 times over the course of unscrewing and then torquing down the new the N205 valve.
Hey man, I’m having a bunch of cam codes and I’ve been chasing them for like a month, I’ve replaced the cam position sensor and the crank sensor about the replace the cam magnet, my car is relatively low kms how pivotal would you say it is to replace the n205 valve? Can I get away with being lazy and not ordering the tool?😂
Hey man, it could be a possibility , I’m not sure what exact issues you’re having. What are the codes? Is it tuned? Also to remove it I would say it’s going to be pretty hard to take it out without the tool and definitely to torque it back to spec. I would save the hassle and order it if you plan on changing it out.
yo im currently having this problem i had a p000a replaced it with a oem valve from rock auto and a code p0010 pops up and misfiring in all 4 cylinders i did replace the adjuster with a vaico
There are 2 seals if you're going this far (even if just replacing the magnets). ELR-302690 (is the outer) it is more of a gasket and ELR-538010 (is the inner) this is the O-Ring If you're into spending bucks earlier than later by replacing the magnets, you wouldn't have to worry about the phaser as long as you keep with frequent oil changes. By more frequent, I mean not every 10K mi.
@@itsgerman When I use the parts compatibility functions on FCP Euro and ECS Tuning, they only show that the inner O-ring is compatible with the Mk.6 GTI. The outer gasket/seal mentioned above is listed as incompatible. Could you confirm the gasket and o-ring parts you used and replaced? Also, how did you replace them -- did you use a pick tool, or something?
I replaced both using a pick tool with a 90 degree angle at the end. www.fcpeuro.com/products/timing-cover-seal-elring-06l103583c this might be the one your talking about.

Possible but hard for me to tell without more info, you may want to take it somewhere and avoid the hassle of buying unneeded parts.

Hey bud. Do you have to lock the timing in before undoing and removing the valve?
Thanks
Dan
Hello Dan, no that won’t be necessary. Good luck!
I’ve got a p0016 code currently. I’ve correctly done all timing components apart from this. Reckon it’s worth a shot?
Have u tried replacing the camshaft position sensor (part number 07L 905 163 C)
@@itsgerman I’ll try that next , thanks :)

using your exact steps from this video also
From what I’ve read there’s 3 possible issues you could be having 1. A faulty fuse 2. Faulty wiring from or to the n205 3. The n205 sensor is bad

Yea I replaced both seals aswell, didn’t mention this in the video, thank you for the insight!

Do you know what the torque spec is for the cam adjust magnet bolts?
