We have the POO11 code after replacing the cam sensor, the cam magnet solenoid, as well as the valve that the magent pushes on. We had replaced the magnet solenoid with an aftermarket from the parts store. The car made a sound like a diesel at idle at this point. We switched back to the OEM magnet solenoid and it seems better but only after clearing the code using the scanner at the parts store. A couple of questions if you happen to see this. 1. Does the code need to be cleared for things to start working correctly or was it just a coincidence that it seems to run better? 2. Plugging in the new magnet we had removed and then starting the car caused the plunger to extend after about 2 seconds at idle. Should it be extended at idle? To be clear we had put the OEM solenoid back in but wanted to see if the magent was activated at idle, which it was. I question if it should be extended at idle or at a higher RPM. I'm guessing the magnet is either on or its off rather than being variable? Thanks

It's the only code that returns on a very small occasion. It gives me a service engine now message for a split second and then goes away. This happens in traffic or at parking lot speeds in between 1st and 2nd gear. It's not the red "engine off now message!" The car studders for second and wants to die unless I give it more throttle. It has a very infrequent random misfire. Maybe on an 8 hour day of driving it misfires under 10 times. I replaced the camshaft sensor and replaced a frozen cam adjuster magnet. The VVT solenoid seems to be in good shape. The spring is good and it sits flush. I didn't pull the upper timing cover to check the cam bridge filters yet. I noticed a small (phantom) leak at the real main seal location. I have resealed the vacuum pump and hpfp. It doesn't seem to leak at all now but I still have the misfires. I did a valve clean around 15 to 20,000 miles ago. I replaced the spark plugs. No oil or anything horrble looking on them for how old they were (maybe it was running a bit rich??). TMI: The car has 240,000 miles on it. The 02 sensors have never been replaced and I've never seen them throw a code. I just cleaned the maf and air intake. It was stalling out in traffic. I have to reset the throttle pedal at least once a week or the dsg jerks after warming it up from a cold start. The fuel pumps have both never been changed either. It's had a few fuel filters and a couple electric throttle bodies. What should my next step be or can you easily identify the issue I'm facing?

When I opened the cam bridge the ring was there, but the screen gone and I don't see it anywhere. My scanner is showing the Phase Position Bank 1 intake at 7-8 degrees at 720-760 RPM idle. The oil is right and the oil sump looks good. I am thinking I have a bad Cam phaser or the screen is somewhere in it. Drives ok and I just did 10 miles, but got P000A, P0011, and P0341. I think I need a new cam/cam phaser, but its $1100 so want to make sure before I go down that road. Any advice? What else could it be?
Is the ball valve still in the cam bridge? I don’t think it’s the cam phase, it’s a pretty simple device and you can take it apart and clean it out, they rarely go bad. Sounds like an oil control problem if you did all the other things already. Or that screen is somewhere blocking oil flow which is very possible. Problem is, where is it? Can be anywhere.

Replace the PCV valve if you didn’t already. The cam bridge Check ball maybe on its way out causing the cam come and misfires.
great video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment!
Mine sounds like a diesel engine. Not sure if this it. No engine codes. 😢
Could be the timing chain and tensioner
Could the low oil pressure light come on w/no codes?!
Absolutely
I have a Gen 1 2.0 TSI on a 2009 Tiguan. Bought it with issues and have replaced the VVT valve, VVT Solenoid, Cam Sensor, Crankshaft sensor and did a timing chain job.
Thanks for the reply, great video. Yes, the ball is still there. I think the previous owner had the cam position senso go out and kept driving it, but who knows. I am popping the cover this weekend to take a look at what is really happening and maybe find a screen.

@garrettgerland4553 also have to double check his work if all that you told me was done. I thought you did the work? So who knows what they did or didn’t do?
I did all the work. Going to check it one more time! Got a nice camshaft from the junkyard this morning and it looks perfect. Thanks for the replies@@motorcarnut
Out of curiosity, did you end up finding out what the exact issue was? I was a similar issue on my 2010 CC with the P0011. Vehicle runs completely fine with no misfires or anything. @@garrettgerland4553
I have same problem p0431
P0341 and what did you do to fix ??

What does this job cost
Varies from state to state and mechanic shop or dealer
EURO CRAP!
Bottom line, any vehicle has to be properly maintained.
@@motorcarnut That still doesn't change the fact it's EURO CRAP!... I've been a mechanic 42yrs & I refuse to work on 90% of the euro crap I see.
@preston963 Lol, I hear you, but money is money. If I’m fixing a Fiat or Ferrari, doesn’t matter to me.
Can these 3 codes altogether trigger EPC light blinking when car pick up in starting gears???
Absolutely
