What’s your favorite IKEA product in this video?

    • @FoxMocks
      @FoxMocks 4 года назад

I know it's not from this video but it's from the last Ikea video. I definitely love the starttid roll top. I have the black version though because I was going through the store they were clearing them out for the now blue and pink ones. I got to say some people would complain on the lack of organizations with its big bucket of a main storage area but I sort a prefer it since there's nothing that could get caught in it. I aswell love how there is two clips like most roll tops so I need to pack extra even though it doesn't look as good I can still use the top clip. So far for my books, and a hoodie for classes it's been working great. Though I'm a bit worried for the icy winter to know if it will keep my stuff relatively safe or if would brake

I have knalla sports bag for, maybe, 11 years now, and it is still good and very useful. I usually use it as check-in baggage bag at the end of my trip, put clothes and everything that should not allowed bring to cabin.
And, even though the zipper is made of plastic, it surprisingly works quite well and durable for that kind of use.

Our family has been using the rensare packing cubes everytime we travel. They’re lightweight and easy to pack. :)

I agree the rolling carry-on is not top quality BUT one of its strengths as a budget option is how lightweight it is. Most rolling carryons that are “ultra light” cost 5x as much or more. We happily use them for cheap travel on airlines that limit carryon weight. So far no issues or damage to the bags. My husband has had his for 4+ years! We will eventually invest in better ones but I think these have their merit. :)

Those three dollar Pivring backpacks are great for kids gym bags for school or for roadtrips to carry the stuff they use while we drive. We have an older version of that bag that is 6 years old and still in great shape. No issues with zippers here.

I've used the starttid carry on bag for 4 years, it's perfect for some one like me that only needs a carry on about once a year, since it folds up pretty flat it doesn't take up a lot of storage space when not in use

  • @BrynneC
    @BrynneC 3 года назад +5

If you're going on a trip and have the intention of doing a lot of shopping, the flat folding carry on might be handy. Pack it inside your full size checked bag on the way there and fill it up for the trip home.

The KNALLA backpack and duffle match their large packable shopping bags. I don’t think they are meant for usage like a regular backpack, but as an alternative to a large tote when carrying bulky items to and fro. One commenter mentioned beach bag, which makes sense. Carrying a small load of laundry to the laundrymat, going to the store on public transit/walking and coming home with groceries or shopping, a bag to throw in your luggage because you plan to buy a lot of (lightweight) souvenirs and want another bag for the return trip, or a bag to keep in your car to use in a pinch. I find myself using blue IKEA totes for all kinds of stuff like this and these would be a smaller but still roomy alternative that zips up and carries on the bag or crossbody.
It would have been nice to see a higher-quality packable small day-pack for when you are going out all day when traveling and leaving your main pack secured at your lodgings. They do seem to be expanding these lines so we’ll see what’s next; once the world is mostly vaccinated, I believe travel is predicted to boom.

I used the packable duffel so much and after a year of usage it ripped but honestly it came in so much more useful than I was expecting. Sometimes you just need a massive space to chuck loads in on a whim. I'd put it in my daypack, then if I had any awkward or dirty I would dump it in as my day pack is usually super organized so those extra items can be a massive pain in the arse.
Lots of packable day packs are tiny too so this is the best.

When I saw the PIVRING backpack in Ikea, it was in the children's section-I think that's why it is so small...but yeah, it's not to be used long-term or for long periods of time since it doesn't have any padding or structure

  • @janellegodin2934

Ikea used to made molded cloth roller luggage that looked bizarre. It has a textured top and came in black or a bright orange. They were inexpensive and looked cheap but my kids use them for camping each summer (4-6 weeks over several trips) and they've travelled over 30 000 km on road trips and are still in excellent shape 7-8 years later I can't say the same about my luggage which cost 4-5x more expensive. I wouldn't check it on an airplane but for carry on, or car trips, IKEA travel gear has held up extremely well.

I own the STARTTID carry on with wheels for a few years now and I agree - it feels very cheap, BUT it didn't break. It's still fine and I still use it. It's very light-weight (I think that new VÄRLDENS is even lighter though). That's a plus when you're travelling by plane with just hand luggage. :)

The green backpack seems more like a packing cube that you can use as a backpack in a pinch. Can’t imagine it’s really intended to be used as a full-time backpack

It's really good as that! I have three of them that I use as packing cube/beach bag. Excellent product to avoid having to bring a specific beach bag. Also it's like 1,5 $ in Sweden now so it's cheaper than pretty much any other cubes. Although you feel it.

I see it as just a little bag that folds up flat that you keep inside a larger rucksack or case and if you just want to leave your luggage at the hotel and just go out and bring say a bottle of water, a snack, and a light jacket with you it's fine for that. Or you just use it to carry a couple of bits with you on a flight whilst your luggage is in the hold.

I just took my first trip using the packing cubes. The double sided one fit all my shirts (6)on one side and 2 light jackets on the other. I then used one for 6 pairs of leggings and 1 pair of slacks. The 3rd cube was pj's & undergarments. All fit nicely in a 20" IT roller bag. I really like these packing cubes!

I like my PIVRING bag. It is cheap $3 but the seams are finished on the inside. It's perfect for certain things. I upgraded my climbing gym bag from a fraying drawstring bag that was free. The mesh pocked holds my climbing shoes. Inside is my harness, clothes (leggings and tee), ear buds, phone, charging cords, electrolyte packet or a snack bar and water bottle. My chalk bag gets straped to the outside with waist strap. All the chaulky things on the outside so it's perfect. My gear is not heavy so it ok that it doesn't have paded straps but I could sew some that velcro on if I really wanted them. If I boulder outside I could pack this bag inside the crash pad easily. My wallet doesn't quite fit but I have the checkbook sized wallet. It does squeeze in at the top for a trip to the gym if I go wearing my gym clothes already. If I drove somewhere I would just bring my ID and 1 form of payment and leave the rest of my wallet at home. Its a great budget bag for traveling light or for a carry on if someone isn't bringing a laptop. A tablet would fit better with a padded sleeve since the bag is not padded. It would be a good library bag if someone sticks to just a few books at a time. It could be a good project bag.

Hey there! Love these vids. I went & bought the Dromsack after watching your other IKEA bags vid. I had the Varlends toiletry bag you mentioned here. I use it as a cables & stationery holder for my laptop. I've also got the Knalla foldable backpack. I use it for my shopping when I travel. Great to fit it anywhere & because it doesn't have a structure i can really stuff it with things.

I use my knalla backpack for the beach. Or if I’m going to the pool. It’s big enough to hold extra clothes and a towel. Definitely not useful for like a daily backpack thing because it’s both to big and flimsy.

I use IKEA FORFINA packing cubes as compression cubes (although they are not) to make everything fit into my carry on and machine wash them after every trip, they're still fine, the zippers work well. If RENSA are even better, I might buy them when it's possible to travel again.

I actually own the Nala backpack and I don't mind it. As a daypack I agree it's a wash but as a personal item bag when you want to take a handbag but it's just not big enough for what you need on the plane it works great (just have to not pack it out or exceeds dimensions).
Also good for taking dirty clothes to laundromat.
I've also used it for grocery shopping but you do need to pack it carefully for that or everything sticks into you
(But I LOVE backpacks for carrying weight and use a lot in my daily life)
And considering the PRICE I've no regrets having bought that 1 (especially considering that in using it I've worked out that I just wouldn't need a foldable backpack when traveling - there are better options).
However, I think this would be fantastic for vanlife

For a neck pillow I started using a neck brace. It looks silly, but it’s actually supportive, and it folds up super small. You could also probably get a couple more free snacks with it on too lol.

The Knalla duffle is great for extra luggage actually and it also survives a journey in a plane's hold. Tried it a couple of times when I had too much cabin luggage

I’ve been using the Forfina packing cubes for ages and they’ve stood up pretty well as none have ripped and even the zippers are still fine. However, it seems like IKEA does not carry them anymore which is a pity.

The "K" in "Knalla" isn't silent, so it's pronounced exactly as it is spelled: K-nalla. It's excellent to have with you ex in the car, to carry bulky but not that heavy stuff.

Thank you for the awesome information you guys have been sharing. I have been a subscriber for a year now and love every single video you put out.
For whenever you guys do a q&a, I have a question: There are SO many backpacks in the market. But if one could only buy one, which had all the features, which one would you recommend? Security of a Packsafe, organisation of a Tombihn, submersible water proof, truly hiking friendly (with adjustable straps etc) and yet one that doesn't break the bank? And nothing either enormous or super tiny? Please please please. Thanks and regards

P.S. And one that's lightweight and won't fall apart within a couple of years (durable) too...like if you needed an emergency bag...which backpack would you choose for in..like in a natural disaster or something....floods,fires, riots kinda situations?..an all rounder backpack?
