I’ve had my blue IKEA bags for at least 8 years now and they always came in handy either to carry bulky items from Costco, laundry, or even to carry out my recycling items out to the bins. Definitely wouldn’t consider them a miss but that’s just my opinion.

    • @ShelAZ11
      @ShelAZ11 4 года назад +15

I wouldn't consider them a miss either. I have always lived in apartments and let me tell you, when it's time to move, the blue bags are great! I also take them with me to IKEA! I mean, c'mon, why would you not buy one of these to put all your stuff in every time you go back to IKEA? I've had my blue bags for a really long time and I totally agree with you.

The Frakta is probably the most useful bag in this review. It is actually incredibly strong. You can abuse this bag, stuff it anywhere and fill it with anything. You can even carry water in it. I find i never have enough of these and use them all the time. I could probably do an hour long video about the versatility of the Frakta.

They are excellent laundry bags! We’ve also used them for years for packing up the car for a party or event (eg decor), moving stuff between my parents home and my own, and i love having one in the car for if i’ve done a lot of shopping and have multiple bags to carry in.

I bought the Starttid 12 lt and soon after bought the 18 lt as well. Great function, simple and A FRACTION OF THE PRICE! I have used Fjällräven, Aer, Samsonite bags and others but they are not cheap. I’m impressed how these bags can do most of my use cases that I need but up to a fifth of the price of the other brands. By the way the Frakta bag is so multi purpose, moving bag, laundry mat bag, beach toys bag, firewood bag, picnic bag just I name a few. Yes please do more budget conscious reviews. Thanks!

I use the big blue ikea bags for laundry all the time also great for bully things like chips and cereal on huge shopping trips and wonderful for moving and times like a beach or picnic when you want to move a bunch of bulky things. I also have one in my travel kit as a place to put everything I'm planning on packing as I collect it before the final packing. I find them super useful so I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. Great video though 😊

We teach 20-30 kids at a time on how to bicycle so we have to bring just as many bicycle helmets. We use 4-5 Frakta bags to carry all the helmets. They're durable, strong, and I love the long and short handles so you can tie them.
I also keep them in the car. When I go shopping no matter if it's groceries or department stores, I just like throwing everything in one bag. One lift out of the cart and into your car and you're done.

I buy and sell on eBay. We often go to Thrift stores, Estate sales, Yard sales and we keep these FRAKTA bags in the trunk of the car to carry our haul. We keep another set for food shopping. I pick these up at the thrift store and bring them home and wash them in the washing machine. Air dry and good to go. Plus when we went camping last year, we carried some of our camping gear in these. So things were not loose in the Jeep.

I'd love to see travel focused gear from ikea.
I think the 12L would be ideal for children- esp. young children. I know you don't really talk about traveling with children on the channel, but there is a place for bags like that for children to carry some of their own things and maybe an ipad.

I’ve literally used the Frakta on so many occasions. I have used it for traveling, road trips, doing laundry in hotels, warehouse grocery runs, beach trips, and most importantly for moving!! They have carried so many things at once, they are my work horse bags. I used them when I was living alone, they’re not just for large families bc I see ppl here talking about uses for their children. And now I let my partner use them whenever needed. Definitely NOT a miss. If you can’t find a use for them in your life, maybe you’re not doing enough in life 😂

Great review! I was thinking about update my sata backpack with an ikea backpack due to Ryanair New restrictions. I,m not a fan of very cheap backpacks except if you know you will destroy them during travel. This comes very handy. My quechua 10 euros 20l backpack is a good example, when traveling to my grandma house in this shity bus full of dirt for 3 hours, (the only way to go there), I don't use my beautiful prístine deuter, neither my Rains backpack. But the quechua one can be washed in the machine if needed without remorse. You can try to wash it and see what happens...it was only 10€. On the other hand, I also have the grey packing cubes from ikea, they are fine if you need something very very light and are counting every gram, or if you are in a hurry. Also have the packable tote/shopping bag, it's perfect size for go to the beach!!! 🏄‍♀️ it has space for a towel, cream and some Kids stuff if needed, and you can pack it, it doesn't occupies much space during winter/spring/autumn. Plus, it can go to the washing machine, main problem with rafia baskets is you can not wash them, so with time they grow little critters and smell like concentrated sea, in best case scenario... As always, excuse my terrible english, and thank you for your great job!
P.S.: Are you thinking about a decathlon review? it would be interesting to see what you pick. Packing cubes from there are OK, way too big for my taste, but better quality than ikea ones. Hiking toiletries bag and the 1€ random fabric foldable tote you can get there (where the cashiers are) are good too. ok, nothing else 😁. See you.

Startid 18L actually has 2 appealing features that many nicer daypacks don't have: (1) it's rectangular which really helps with packing especially with rectangular cubes - tapered packs (especially double tapered, with the top losing both width and thickness) are wasteful; and (2) bellows water bottle pockets rock, it's amazing how many much more expensive day packs don't have external bottle slots, meaning a water bottle going inside puts my gear at risk of water leaks. Yeah, Ikea is well made but it "feels" cheap. BTW Velcro on bag flaps deters pickpockets, it's much easier to quietly undo a plastic buckle without even much jostling. Velcro is noisy and requires a real (noticeable) tug. Finally, I don't like totes for travel, BUT I've been hassled for trying to board with my large overhead pack (ostensibly my "carryon luggage") and smaller daypack (15-18 liters, as "personal item") simply because both items "carry" the same i.e. packs - believe it or not when I pair up up an overhead backpack with a seatside messenger bag (15L), no eyebrows are raised. The Varldens Belt Bag is a standout, so minimalist (which maximizes usable interior space) and the dark gray color. Glad I found your site. I like unconventional (and cheap) solutions to simple travel challenges.

Packable tote and shopping bags are so useful to keep in the car and to carry one with any daily carry bag. Still need one strong enough to cope with heavier items of bottles and tins and unfortunately you are not likely to find out until it breaks and then, when you find one that works they stop making them.

Regarding the Frakta: in terms of usecases, it's also handy for carrying bulky stuff that's not necessarily meant to be carried, such as a Playstation (true story) or all the stuff your grandmother/elderly mother insists on passing onto you so you bring it home. Aside from that, it's biggest upside is the ruggedness and cheapness. Unlike a lot of other bags, this is one where you're not going to worry about putting your muddy rubber boots into it or stuff like that as it can be cleaned easily and replaced cheaply.

Some of my favourite travel gear is from ikea! Packing cubes (the first onea they sold), backpacks, an inflatable neck pillow, travel bottles for liquids, lockers or even a a personal alarm they sold a long time ago! All of them are really good looking (beautiful neutral colors and nice design), nice materials, and a great value for money! Unfortunately, they seem to be replacing all the great products they had, for cheaper versions of them. I cant even comment the neck pillow they sell nowadays! It looks like a cervical collar! :( It makes me so sad!

I love the big blue Frakta! We avoid single use items big time, so we use ours a lot. We always take ours to IKEA and stores like Target; sometimes to the grocery store.
We also use it when car (or cabin) camping, to transport items to our walk-in campsite. And it’s my go-to bag when we go to various family Christmas parties, because two of them will carry all the presents. (We have lots of nieces and nephews…)
And it is STURDY! That’s why they use them for in-store shopping.
There’s a reason they sell so many.

Dude...am with you as well, hate Velcro in a bag..especially in the winter time when wearing wool and especially nice wool! the snags...I always seam rip those Velcro pieces out.True. Its a hit and miss with Ikea bags..I had purchased a pink durable plastic messenger bag that I have used on numerous times when camping and has held up in moisture, rain falls and still looks good 8 years later. The fold up shopper bag...are the seams on the inside french seamed or did they just sew up a seam with those seams ready to fray? The Blue Ikea Bags! Luv them!! great when moving! Cheers! Good review. Look forward to more...always. Next time I am in Ikea...will have to get the shopper/back pack bag...functional for a day outing.

Many, many years ago I bought an IKEA convertible travel bag. Absolutely fantastic product, great organization, great harness system, detachable daybag (they had this many years before several kickstarters presented it as a brandnew, genius idea), still like new. Even if it was cheap and made of 100 % polyester - going strong for 10 years now. And of course THE IKEA It-bag - the blue, gigantic tote. Cannot be killed, using and abusing it for all kinds of stuff - from carrying grocery, carrying sandpit toys, to carrying gravel with it. One of the most versatile bags we own. 3 of them. You were so very wrong putting this in the "discard bin". Sorry, but here I cannot agree less with you.

Holy CRAP! The FRAKTA is the best bag they have! 99 cents and it's nearly indestructible. It carries tons of stuff and folds down to nothing.

I've been using the forenkla backpack for work everyday for 2 years and it's still holding up pretty well except for the zippers (which I got changed to better ones)

Awesome! Glad to hear it's still holding up well for you, thanks for sharing your experience with us. Did you end up doing some DIY with your zippers or did you take it somewhere to get them replaced?

Ikea bags and backpacks do last a long time. They may look cheap but many last longer than some more expensive/overpriced ones. I like Ikea products for everyday use. For example, my expensive Nomatic backpack while visually appealing, cannot endure the abuse our Ikea bags do.
