Who Was Georgia O'Keefe's Younger Man, Juan Hamilton?

Juan Hamilton and Georgia O'Keeffe's initial meeting was not a pleasant one. After multiple encounters between the two individuals, O'Keefe eventually hired Hamilton for some odd jobs around her New Mexico studio. This was the beginning of nearly 14 years of the close friendship between O’Keeffe, the famous American painter and the legendary Alfred Stieglitz’s wife and muse, and Juan Hamilton, a modest potter, 58 years her junior. Hamilton became O’Keeffe’s driver, gardener, assistant, secretary, travel companion, and closest friend. ‘Part of what she liked about me was that I didn’t put her on a pedestal,’ Hamilton once said. But this union wasn’t without its share of drama.

Love comes in many ways, I feel it was a mature relationship , like a grandson admiring a grandmother, he prolonged her life and gave her new hope with creating new art being blind….judgement is in the eye of the beholder, let her rest in peace❤️🧑‍🎨🦋

It seems to me Mr. Hamilton was an angel sent to Georgia O'Keefe so that she would be helped during her old age. He deserved all of her estate in my opinion!

Sounds like an opportunistic user to me. She wanted children but Steiglitz had been there and done that. That was probably his way in.
