Thanks for the information. I strongly agree and hope that the government implement the e-visa as an alternative to the brp and other hardcopy documents. It shouldn't be a replacement entirely.
I'm glad it worked well for you and not having gone through the anxiety and fear of being stranded. In my friend's case, English was not a barrier and more to do with the attitude of I don't care.
This exactly happened to someone who went on a holiday with us. She left her BRP card in the UK, thinking now that everything is now digital, she should be able to come back home. Guess what happened? She and her family got stuck in Portugal for 3 days as immigration would not allow her back in. She was able to return after her brother had to send the BRP via someone who was travelling to Portugal, and they were bale to get the BRP from the individual who was an unknown good samarithan. What is the point of the e-visa if it is not fit for purpose.
I had a somewhat similar experience at Paris Gare du Nord in July, though I did not intentionally leave my BRP behind in the UK. I forgot my wallet at my friend’s house in the UK and my BRP was in it. I only realised my mistake and that I did not put my BRP in the Lufthansa purse I usually carry my passports in, just as we were about to go through Border control on our way out of Paris. I just stepped up to the UK Border officer at the desk in Paris and told her the mistake I made. Offered my eVisa code as proof of immigration status but she said they did not the facilities to work with eVisas just yet and showing it to her on my phone would not do as their border immigration checks usually involves pulling up our digital biometrics, using our BRP. I told her I had just had new biometrics take a few weeks prior for my Citizenship application, if they had access to check that. I was already making my mind up to head back to our hotel in the city and check in again whilst my friends travel back home and post my BRP to me when they got back to London. Then the lady looked up again at me, stared directly into my eyes and asked if I was sure that I had told her the truth and my BRP was truly in the UK, and I said yes. She stamped my passport and let me go. I was this fortunate because that immigration checks desk was manned by a UK staff so 1. There was no language barrier and I could easily express myself to her in English. 2. She must have believed that I am a decent citizen who had made an honest mistake and had no reason to lie. Thereby exercising her humanity to act not just according to the letter of the law but in the spirit of it. I thanked her quite profusely, offered my apologies again for my stupid mistake and left. If it had happened elsewhere abroad, I may not have been so fortunate. If she even decided not to take me on my word of honour and demand that I must show my BRP before being allowed to leave France and re-enter the UK, she would have been well within her rights because it was entirely my fault for not ensuring my BRP was in the same purse with my passports.
Nanelle I really want to take the B1 English test for ILR please can I get a material to practice from .Ur video on life in the uk test helped me a lot.
I think as well as downloading/ screenshot one can also print it so you have 3 ways to prove: online, saved on phone, and on paper. The risks are too high
Thank you for your constant updates. My question is, I have received and registered for the e-visa can my wife and kids be registered with my link or we should expect their individual links to register?
Hello I have a question. I was wondering all BRP are expiring 2024 and we use our BRP to access our uk EVisa account will u still be allow to use this document to access our account or are we to change it to passport access
If you still need physical proof to prove your status in case something happens, then why are they getting rid of brp. The Home office loves to move the goal post at the border which will leave you helpless.
What about the NHS nursing recruitment update? I am waiting since November 2023, so many nurses from India are worried. Please give any update regarding that ma'am. Because there is no recruitment happening. Thank you.
I have a question, please. I have applied for an e-visa for my family. My spouse is the main applicant, and her visa expires in October 2025, while mine and the kids' visas expire in December 2024. I believe it's a technical error. How can I go about correcting this?
I recently received a text message reminding me to apply for an evisa. I currently have a settlement biometrics card. What should i do if I've only received a text but not an emai? Also, how much will the evisa cost? May yo please assist
The UK government has to extend the closing date of 31st December 2025 till the end of June 2025 so all the issues and problems can be sorted out to allow ample time and convenience for people to register for their e-visas.
Hi Nanelle (or anyone else), do you have an idea the best way to go about enquiring re: if you have an updated valid visa but the e-visa shows an old expired visa status? Thanks
Good afternoon Nanelle, how would dependants get their own e-visa. Actually the main applicant has gotten a message from home office and gotten E-visa. How will the dependant of the main applicant get their own E-visa? Should the dependants wait for home office email or which other way? Thank you
Nanelle when i was creating the e-visa account i was asked to register with either a brp or passport, i used brp ,can i upload my passport details on my e-visa and if yes how
Point to note about this evisa... Some phones are unable to download the app... Imagine that... Why not make app available to all smart phones... I had to borrow another phone to sign up for my Evisa
Hello Nanelle, I will like to make an enquiry about e-visa. I was waiting for the Home office to send me an email for e-visa but unfortunately my brp card expired in July 2024. I have renewed but still waiting for a decision but I want to create a e-visa account and realised I have to scan my BRP card. The card was collected by the Home office when I went for my biometric. Please can you advise, thanks.
My residence permit expired in June, two weeks after it expired I applied for e-visa. But still my photo has not arrived in e-visa. What can I do? Also I have applied for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) it has been three months, no result has come yet I am waiting. Will there be any problem with my Indefinite leave to reamin application due to the lack of photo in e-visa?
Thanks for sharing.pls what is the way out. I applied for e-visa last week and i later got a message that my immigration status canot be link to my account because i snap with a hair band on, which i never knew it could have an effect. Then i was advice to sign in again and fill the form as we normally did when we got the second stage in order to resnap but all the form showed completed when i signed and i couldnt do anything.Pls help.
I concur with what you said about keeping your original documents. My dad who immigrated to the UK from Nigeria more than 30 years ago, he will carry his Nigerian passport showing the original stamp (ILR) when travelling, Bearing in mind he has British Citizenship, some times border force will ask him to show proof of his IRL. So please keep your original documents with you never dispose them !
@@NanelleGriselda he is smart because when packing I asked why are you taking your passports. Then he told me the reason which is saddening but I understood why
@@lilshine1234But if he has british citizenship, so in this case you mean he has a UK passport, why not just hold both passports when travelling in and out? Whats the reason for still showing ILR when he is a citizen of the UK?
@@vincentalakija5515 He carries both passports. I don’t think you understand my comment. The video is about the concerns of digital visa and immigration status not shown on a card i.e. BRP card. My dad acquired his British citizenship more than 20 years ago. A couple of years ago he flew into the UK and for whatever reason he had to be manually inspected. From there he was asked to show the original ILR which was on his expired Nigerian passport. He was able to provide it. The point of the comment was to concur with what Nanelle was saying about keeping the original documents even if it’s expired and ‘not required’ to be presented at the border. Just because one has a British passport doesn’t mean the border force will automatically let you in the country, because they can question the validity of how the ILR.
Same as I, haven’t got any link in my email and tried it online myself and after creating my UKVI account proving my identity they said my I’m using a wrong document but it’s my BRP card 😢😢😢

So if you are soon due to ilr then wait till u get and apply to register him as a british citizen and then apply for his passport . I have details of all these steps on my channel. If yr visa doesn’t need to be on Evisa u don’t need to worry about emails but those that need to be on Evisa have received their emails .
