    Really appreciate this guide. I started playing resto shaman recently, bur havent played a healer since holy priest in Cataclysm. Overall, resto shaman feels pretty weak tbh. It has a lot of situational tools but applying these in a way to keep up with better healing specs is quite difficult. I topped healing meters as holy priest with way less understanding and effort. It seems like you have to really outplay other healers if you want to keep up with better specs

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  6 месяцев назад +1

      I assume you are talking about raid (this guide is for M+, raid one is in the works) and honestly, right now every class in raid requires a bit deeper understanding on how to play it. You can go in pretty much on anything and press buttons, and you will heal, probably getting through normal and heroic relatively easy. However, if you want to do it efficiently and in an optimal way, you'll have to dig in deeper. As for rankings and topping the meters - yes, some classes are a bit better than others but if you master your class and you play it well, you are going to beat every other healer almost all of the time regardless of spec.

    thanks for the guide. 2 cents: always play with Vigor. Lower keys are no problem at all, so you dont need additional damage anyways. And having AV a stable talent gives you a good feeling for your parties health pools.

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  4 месяца назад

      Hm, thank you, that's a very interesting take! I always advise people to play with CBT on low keys too so they learn how to use it and it flows once they get to the high keys... but I never applied that strategy to Vigor. Now I would say that most of the people who watch this (and myself included) never get to high enough keys where Vigor is a must but the "learn to play with it" part is definitely something that I'm going to include in the next updated version of the guide for next season. Thanks again!

      Raid guide is in the plans but it might be a week or two as I think I'm doing MW next.
      Played a bit of resto in raid and yes, mana is cringe. Mana tide / mana pot early so you get second use of them at some point in the fight and emphasize riptides more (especially with 4pc) than Chain Heals if you are running that build.

    Ty for guide 👍.
    If we really think about racial optimisation, witch horde race do you recommand more ?
    I was planning Vulpera for macro the potion with the def CD, or Gobelin for mobility and haste bonus, or HM tauren for versa.
    I would prefer Undead Shaman 🤣

      When it comes to races, the only overpowered one is the Iron Dwarfs as it gives you access to massive dispel AND primary stat. However, that's only available for alliance.
      Other than that, honestly, play whatever you like, it won't make huge difference. Goblin is definitely good for the mobility, I love my tauren as it gives you crit and extra stun but HM tauren is basically the same with vers and knock back :)

    I always find myself coming back to the trusty shaman, I find the strength of the spec is that it doesn’t have any weaknesses, other healers seem to have glaring weaknesses whilst being really strong at other stuff but shaman is good at all of it. As someone who only pugs mythic plus shaman is the pick, utility is built for m+.
    Great guide, thanks.

      And as someone who played all the healers this season - I can totally relate to what you are saying. Rsham is the PUG king, period. I wouldn't say it doesn't have weaknesses, in fact, I see many situations and fights where other healers have it much easier. Overall though, when you don't have comms and coordination, the shaman does have the full toolkit to deal with and fix people's mistakes, while some of the other healers have almost nothing in that department :)

    • @sihi5634
      @sihi5634 6 месяцев назад

      @@thelegendbehindthecow oh yeah I mean it doesn’t have any glaring/massive weaknesses, like priests not having interrupts for example, that just fucks me over too much in pugs whereas shamans have a 12 sec cool-down ranged kick, I have my cap totem and as a cow I have my aoe stun.
      I’d love an external for example but you can’t have everything I guess.

      @@sihi5634 Yep, interrupt is one of the many pug-friendly benefits of the shaman :) The lack of external (apart from SLT which kind of, sort of, you can use as external, sometimes...) is pivotal for the rsham but I think that only matters for really high keys. I’m new to the resto shammy. After you cast riptide you get 2 stacks of tidal waves. do you have to spend your tidal waves before you cast another riptide? Can I cast riptide twice in a row or do I have to spend both charges of tidal waves first?

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  6 месяцев назад +1

      The maximum amount of tidal waves is 2 so if you cast another Riptide before you spend them, then you will be back to 2, not 4. Having said that, you can totally cast 2 riptides in a row as the spell has pretty short cooldown so you will get it back pretty quickly.
      Ideally you'd like to spend the charges first but don't hold on the second riptide if you have to cast it. For example, if you are on the move and you can't stop to cast. Or if you are intentionally spreading the Riptides for a fat Primordial Wave, then casting 2 in a row is also totally fine. "Wasting" two tidal wave charges is not crucial as you get them back up quite quickly.

      @@thelegendbehindthecow Thank you so much! I just wanted to make sure that it’s okay to waste tidal waves sometimes. I was afraid that it might be a huge HPS loss if i waste 2 stacks of tidal waves by casting another riptide but your answer made me relaxed again

    Thank you! How much does Surging Shields actually help? I've been tempted to use it instead of Elemental Harmony but I noticed people aren't really using surging shields.

    • @thelegendbehindthecow
      @thelegendbehindthecow  6 месяцев назад +1

      Surging Shields is actually great! However, you can't drop Earthen Harmony for 2 reasons. First, you need that talent to reach Ascendance and second, it gives you 6% damage reduction which is huge.
      In order to pick up Surging Shields, you'd have to drop the 2 points from Swirling Currents. Overall, you could do that but Currents gives you increased controlled healing for everyone through Cloudburst, while the Shields only increases the healing on you and your other Earth Shield target so in most cases you are probably better off playing with Swirling Currents.

      Stick with it, 100%! The reality is that resto shaman is not that bad at all. In fact, I would argue that for sub 20 keys, it's actually better so if you aim is to get to 20s, you will have absolutely no problems at all. I'm already pushing 22-23s right now without problems with sub optimal gear and people learning mechanics, having done all the 20s already. You can see some footage on the channel as well from some of the keys to realize that it's not scary at all :)
      If you start getting into 30s then it's probably a different conversation but you can get to 3k io on any healer this season without trouble at all.

      In M+ HST can definitely outheal cloudburst, for many reasons. However, as mentioned in the video, if played correctly Cloudburst will give you a lot more control and outs from difficult situations.
      As for raid - it entirely depends on how you use it (same stands true for M+ actually). You can create gigantic cloudbursts in raid that HST can't even get close to but only if you pump enough heals and you press the correct buttons once you drop the totem.
