The Origins Project at ASU presents the final night in the Origins Stories weekend, focusing on the science of storytelling and the storytelling of science. The Storytelling of Science features a panel of esteemed scientists, public intellectuals, and award-winning writers including well-known science educator Bill Nye, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, theoretical physicist Brian Greene, Science Friday's Ira Flatow, popular science fiction writer Neal Stephenson, executive director of the World Science Festival Tracy Day, and Origins Project director Lawrence Krauss as they discuss the stories behind cutting edge science from the origin of the universe to a discussion of exciting technologies that will change our future. They demonstrate how to convey the excitement of science and the importance helping promote a public understanding of science.

How can that be possible, if I'm just brainwashed? I think people like you attack religion militantly without realizing that your just copying someone else's discontent for a different point of view. If your the "unbiased atheist" type, could you at least agree that diverse points of view and beliefs are important? Without them, there would be no contrast in which to find truth.

I remember being a freshman in high school and I had a similar thought to Greene’s son, if nothing is faster than the speed of light, then NOTHING is faster than the speed of light. I thought the same thing. It might be too late to swing your career (or not!), but it's never too late to influence the future. (see what I did there)

Anucha SeoDml I'm in school at the moment, I hate science lessons but I love science itself. I believe the way science is taught should be changed
To be honest I have little knowledge of most of the science that these brilliant people talk about. But I'm excited to listen to all of them and actually learn in such a way that I'm actually enjoying it.

I miss Dr. Hawking, but Dr. Sagan made me FEEL how awesome science is... one of my favorite things Sagan said was something to the point of, we're made of the same things as stars, we are the universe experiencing itself - that made me look at things differently from then on
@@DaBeav420 I very much miss Carl Sagan as well, and to celebrate his poise, aplomb and dignity I'd like to point out that his awesome, revelation of "we are star stuff" was actually first given solid evidence by Fred Hoyle who while otherwise an incredibly brilliant scientist was so blindly driven by not only science but the distraction of fighting religion, that he coined the pejorative "Big Bang" and doggedly held on to Steady State until he dies around ~1980. By fighting Religion we lend it importance it no longer earns and hasn't earned for over a century. It had it's time but that time is at an end and left to itself will simply "die on the vine" lending further evidence to "survival of the fittest". Fighting it especially with any degree of passion only prolongs it's continued existence.
If Dawkens,, Krauss et al are the MalolmX and Huey of the movement, Carl was the Martin Luther King, Jr a true gentleman and scholar as well as the premier ambassador for Science. Thankfully Neil carries himself with similar dignity even if he does rather enjoy being a Rock Star.
