As one of the participants, I had a fantastic experience seeing these bears and photographing alongside Jimmy and the rest of our group. It seems like we were in constant amazement at what would happen next as we were able to get video and images we had only dreamed of before. Thanks to Jimmy’s extensive knowledge of bear behavior, and incredible ability to predict what would happen, we were always positioned perfectly and safely. I am so grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Having been to Brooks Falls and Silver Salmon in Lake Clark, I would rate this experience infinitely higher. Thanks, Jimmy for lifetime memories and caring about every detail. As he said in the video, I genuinely miss not only the bears but the great people with whom I had the privilege of enjoying Alaska at its finest.

As another one of the participants, BRAVO jimmy. You did an excellent job capturing the true feeling of what it was like to be there. This was my first ever workshop and now I am incredibly spoiled. This will be impossible to beat of even come close. I have to say, outside of the photography itself, which was amazing, Jimmy did an INCREDIBLE job taking care of his clients. From the over the top campsite to keeping us safe so we could focus on photography and every thing in between. Ever day he would ask "what photos do you want today" his answer was ALWAYS "I know a spot for that" and at days end we would come away with exactly that photo. I can't recommend this trip enough to anybody interested in bear photography. P.S. going away with life time friends is a nice bonus. Hey guys, miss you all!!! Jimmy, Can't wait for alaskan Musk ox!

Awesome photos and video! So many impactful and amazing images! I’m glad all went well in a scary situation. The “unexpected” in nature can be an amazing experience (maybe after the adrenaline subsides :) and I appreciate your perspective on it and sharing that with us. Thanks! Looking forward to more…

Another fantastic video Jimmy and what an unbelievable experience with the Male Bear and the Cub. Thankfully the Cub was OK, as you said it is nature but I always hate to hear about those happenings but this one turned out OK. Some of your best ever footage and outstanding images especially the Moms and their Cubs, they were so special. I just had a couple of really good days with the Black Bears on a river but nothing that can compare with what I just watched. Have a great week and again thanks so much for sharing your great adventures!!

Thank you so much, Keith! I'm so glad it all turned out okay. That is such a special mom that I've known for years and hearing that cry come from her was just heart wrenching, but it all ended well 😊 That sounds amazing! It's been quite some time since I've dedicated time to Black Bears, sure miss those guys! I'll have to hop on Flickr and see your recent images. I'm still playing catch up on everything from this summer 🥴 Thanks again for everything, sure appreciate ya!

Wow, that sounds like a very scary and emotional experience with that male attacking the cub! Glad no one got hurt and that everyone was accepted! I love watching your Alaskan wildlife adventures!

It was quite the experience and in hindsight I feel very privileged that she accepted us so easily as just part of the surrounding landscape. What an incredible year we had out there! I sure appreciate your support, Julie!

Thank you! Just a little nerve wracking. I had the bear spray just in case, but I've still never had to use it. All was okay in the end 😊

Magnificent imagery!!! (Thanks for detailing the chilling encounter when the male bear attacked the cub, this feels quite dangerous, especially if the mother bear would have felt any danger coming from such a group of people not far off. You must be doing something very right there, but ... still... keep your wits as sharp as ever in case similar situations occur. There is a sort of unpredictability with wildlife. If the mother had been hunted some time in the past, it could easily target any humans and try to drive them away.)

Thanks Ott! For sure, it was a tense few moments for me and I had to deliberately calm myself since the bears can sense that tension. The whole experience definitely made me grateful for all the years I've spent around bears and observing their behavior. We were able to react to the situation well as a group and the outcome was very special. I had the bear spray ready to go just in case. I've still never had to use it and I hope I never will.
