    Wow, Jimmy this was a fantastic video with these minks. I see them regularly when I go out for birds/wildlife or just walking but rarely for more than a few seconds at a time. This was amazing. Well done!

      Thanks so much, Stephen! It was such a fun family to spend time with, I haven't seen them for a bit, sure hope they're all surviving and doing well out there!

    Your excitement for the animals is inspirational. A really good idea to keep a journal, I never thought about doing that. I mostly love to photograph the deer, and I actually find it helpful to watch trail cam videos on RUclips to see what kind of activity deer get up to during the day because I get my most successful times to photograph early morning or evening. Incredible footage of the minks. I really loved this one.

      Honestly, it's hard not to get excited about wildlife :) The wildlife journal has been a huge help for me, obviously something I highly recommend. Trail cam videos can be extremely helpful in learning animal behavior, like you mentioned. I think using every ethical resource available to learn more about wildlife behavior is always a good idea. Stay safe out there!

    Very impressive footage. Your comments about how animals in local areas can vary makes total sense and I think people overlook that. You got some great pictures too.

      Thanks so much! I think you're right, I overlooked it as well for so long. I think a lot of what we learn about wildlife behavior should just be taken with a grain of salt.

    Love it! So beautifully filmed, your excitement really shines through,! Too be honest I would be overjoyed at such an experience too! Since the hawks have left the cottontails have been coming out more in the evening to play. I had some fun last night watching a medium sized cotton tail and a more recent baby hopping about! It never gets old.

      Thank you, Julie! I had so much fun with them, I hope I can find them again soon, or maybe see something similar again in the future! I love hearing about the updates with those Hawks, I hope the family is doing well and the little (or not so little) ones are getting a lot of hunting practice in. Its so fun to watch for patterns like you mentioned with the Rabbits coming out more. Sounds like you're having some fun experiences with some awesome animals :)

    Awesome shots and footage of the minks, Jimmy. I think a field journal is an important underrated and overlooked piece of gear and i think every photographer should have one in their bag.

      Thanks Kevin! I couldn't agree with you more. I review mine on a fairly regular basis and it has helped me more than most other resources when looking for wildlife.

    Another super video Jimmy, both very informative and entertaining at the same time. Every time I watch one of your videos I get very jealous of the great variety of wildlife you get to photograph. We have mink in our area as well but mostly you find them around the ocean and they are very hard to catch in the open. Things are really slow in our area right now, we call it the doldrums, things will pick up in mid August when the migrants start heading south. So it's time for some fishing. I started 2 years ago documenting every time I am out with the camera, it has come in handy many times when I am trying to decide where I am going next. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Also I noticed that there is a couple of hacks on the comments today, I have noticed the same thing on a couple of other sites that I looked at this morning.

      @JimmyBreitenstein  2 года назад

      Thank you, Keith! Yeah, these guys don't come out in the open much. The footage I showed of them out in the open is pretty much all I've been able to get after spending quite a bit of time looking for them, but I'm blessed to have gotten what I did :) This tends to be a slower time of year here as well. In past years, I've traveled a lot more during these summer months to photograph wildlife. But this year, I'm spending a lot more time trying to figure out the patterns of the local wildlife during these months and it has been so much fun! Quite challenging, but very fun and worth the energy. Thanks for letting me know about the spam comments, I am so tired of them showing up on every video these days. It's hard to catch them sometimes because I haven't had a ton of internet access throughout the week lately, hopefully they'll stop soon.. Thanks again, have a wonderful week!

    Great video, thanks for posting. I was lucky enough to see three or four of them playing while I was kayaking a few weeks ago, right around sunrise (I'm in Virginia). I got some of my favorite photos.

      Thanks a bunch! Wow, that sounds amazing. That's something not many people will ever see. I consider myself so lucky to have seen this family the way I did. I didn't realize how adept they are at swimming until this spring, as I'm sure you saw while you were out kayaking.

    What a wonderful experience! What are their natural predators as they are see as pests here in the UK? All the best.

    • @JimmyBreitenstein
      @JimmyBreitenstein  2 года назад

      Thank you, Richard! Birds of prey are likely their biggest natural predators in my area. This particular area has a healthy Great Horned Owl population, which probably accounts for more Mink mortalities than anything else (other than human trapping of course).
