Thank you for watching, I agree I felt he was very complimentary to Martin in the interview. I am hoping to talk to Martin as well. I always approach any interview I do as a fan first, I do not go for the drama, I want the artist to feel relaxed and happy. A bit like two mates having a chat down the pub! Phil
Yes that was what I picked up on. It was good to hear. Phil did an incredible job and it made Andy come alive. Excellent altogether. By far the best interview I have watched with Andy Powell. Thanks Phil.
Thanks Phil. This cannot be understated: it is the best interview EVER that I have heard Andy do (and over the years I have listened to many, many interviews). Your obvious enthusiam and knowledge of Wishbone Ash was always apparent without being sycophantic. Always respectful and giving Andy the time and the space to develop and share his memories and his insights to a huge catalogue of great music. I found the whole interview relaxed, and Andy was generous and kind to his fellow musicians from over the years. Listening to the interview was a very positive experience for me - something that I was not expecting. Thanks Phil, for putting this together and sharing it, you should feel justly proud of this video.
Hi Russ, Thank you so much for watching and for your very positive feedback - that means a great deal to me. The podcast side of Now Spinning Magazine is something I am really trying to develop and your comment is very inspiring. I try and see each interview as a couple of friends having a chat down the pub talking about music. I did really enjoy this one and Andy only thought he was going to be talking about the Argos box set for about 30 min. It is amazing to think nearly 2 hours later we were still talking! Thank you again - Phil (please share if your think anyone else will like it )
@@NowSpinningMagazine Hi Phil. The fact that Andy only thought he was going to be talking to you for 30 min and it went on for nearly 2 hours; is testament to your great interview technique. It was clear that there was mutual respect right from the start, and when Andy commented on the album sleeves that you had positioned behind you, it must have been clear to him that he was dealing with a true fan. You got the balance and pace just right - which I find kind of interesting given that WA are renowned for giving "space" to their music and allowing it to "breathe". I notice from your video play list, that you have similar musical tastes to myself. So I will defintely check out your other videos, particularly the podcasts, and share the links to my friends and family. Thanks once again for this enjoyable podcast - Russ
I can't believe these guys, a one time, lived in Connecticut, an hour away from where I lived. IN the late '70s, me and my basement band friends jammed a good portion of live dates every weekend. Even performed Blowin' Free at our high school...the kids probably couldn't handle Phoenix, lol.
Really open, honest and sincere interview from two nice blokes. Great to hear banter like you used to hear down at the pub. This unfortunately is something that we seemed to have now lost. Keep up the excellent work Phil
Great stuff Phil! You provided the perfect atmosphere for a down to earth conversation with Andy. I could tell he was into it as much as you were. Cheers, Dan
Wow Phil - always love your channel. But this was the best. As one of the worlds biggest Wishbone Ash fans, this was the best interview with Andy I've ever seen - fantastic. Congratulations and thanks.
Hi Alan, your comment has made my day, week, probably this month! Thank you so much for your supportive words and taking the time to watch this podcast video. I really enjoyed putting it together and talking to Andy. Phil :)
Fabulous interview , where Andy didn't just deliver pat answers . Having seen him 8X in performance , he just comes across as a very likeable guy . Have been a big fan for years , and though I have all of their releases , based on your review of the " Argus " box set I've elected to add that to my collection as well .

Great interview, Phil, thanks again. Wishbone Ash are in my home town later on this year and am just finding out which other members of "the gang" want tickets before booking them - saw them on the last tour, great band! And great news about the BBC compilation being put together - that's one thing that is both great and not so good about CDs today. I love it when I get some BBC sessions or live stuff as bonus tracks on CDs, but not so much the demo versions or alternate takes of songs already on the albums.
I see you have removed your comments. That says all everyone needs to know about you. I first saw Wishbone Ash in 1969, 54 years ago. Please dont try and teach your grandmother how to suck eggs. Farewell,.. or as you childishly put it.... discussion closed.
Just superb. ❤. I’m a relative newbie to Wishbone Ash and this brilliant interview is a fantastic recap to help me get to know them and their stories. Thanks so much to both Phil and Andy for such a generous helping of reminiscences. 🤘😎🤘
Marvellous interview Phil, what a marathon, just managed to finish listening to it all. Wishbone 4 and Front Page News two of my favourites. Hoping the big box set gets another run printed.
Hi Ian, thank you for watching and making it to the end. This was such a lot of fun to do and I feel Andy was really relaxed and comfortable with my interviewing style that it became almost a chat between mates! Phil :)
Wonderful interview. I have not heard every single WA album but I have a couple albums (S/T, Argus). I've heard a few on YT. Now listening to Clan Destiny on YT. Thank you Phil for recommending it.
A truly excellent, well paced and informative interview. Could have easily listened for another two hours on their latter-day recordings. Need to get hold of Vintage Years even more now! Look forward to the BBC sessions and maybe a second box set of what they've done since 1991:-) Well done!
Phil, I loved this interview! So well-prepared, such wonderful, informative and insightful/rarely asked questions, covering almost all the discography, some of which I had little knowledge and understanding of. By the way, I've since ordered Nouveau Calls, Illumuniations, and Clan Destiny; you and Andy have me very excited to listen to them! Thanks for being such a 'joyful' guy to listen to, much like the New England album you referred to as such which I adore as well.
No other band besides maybe the Hellacopters and Thin Lizzy have had the songs that give me goose bumps. There is a magic in their best songs that defy description. As kids growing up we called it ‘the feeling, yes, the C.D.E. Chords but it’s more then that. The chords in Queen Of Torture still blow my mind! My mouth a gap in amazement. My mentor, Mark Chesley used to laugh and say, Look, Ronnie’s mouth is getting bigger😂He knew that ‘feeling’ too
Superb interview with Andy being a very generous interviewee. Also Phil intuitively knows how to direct the conversation so many congratulations. For those who maybe have bypassed this hugely underrated band i would like to direct you to their latest opus 'Coat Of Arm's. For me the track 'Empty Man' is as good as any material this band has ever recorded and after > 50 years this album is as strong as any since their commercial heyday.
51:25 Yes, my favourite album is also 'New England'. In fact the first W.A song I ever heard was that album's opener 'Mother of Pearl'. I was blown away and immediately bought the whole back catalogue to that point.
Hi Phil. Amazing interview. And then people say that we can't talk to the Gods....??? I noticed you mentioning working in a factory at some point, and that you didn't seem to be all that fund of it. Who can blame you? I work in a factory, and I'll say that it sucks beyond description, which made me think; Wouldn't it be the perfect punishment and education for people in the record business if they where forced to do that? It would not only be a well deserved kick in the butt, but also teach them just how cruel it is to scam people out of their hard earned money by wiping bad pressings etc. of on them. Of course it will only work if they have a conscience which I'm not sure they have, but couldn't it be worth a try? Stay cool Mate. All the best from Denmark.
Andy seemed very gracious in his comments towards Martin Turner throughout the interview after all the animosity of the past.

Great interview, Phil 👍👍 You've spoilt me lately covering Cats in Space, When Rivers Meet and Wishbone.😊😊

Hi Andy, go for New England, There’s The Rub, Clan Destiny, Live Dates
Being a huge Blackmore fan it is wholly appropriate that he got WA their record deal. My two favourite bands of that era.
Thank you for watching - Phil
Excellent interview! Congrats! 🙂
Hi Larry, thank you it is like Lord of The Rings in length, but it was so much fun to do and I hope fans of the band will love it as well - Phil
