I was with her up to the "calories in calories out nonsense". Sorry, that's not accurate and true science in 2020. There's something called hormones, insulin sensitivity, leptin and other factors that attribute to weight gain/weight loss. Look up Dr. David Fung. Also, her take on Keto and Low Carb isn't intelligent at all.
I agree with her take on obesity and Lizzo, but not everyone will lose weight if they eat less and move more. And therein lies the insensitivity to ones who are overweight - they are told "you just eat too much." "You gotta exercise more." When in reality, they have a hormonal imbalance, bad gut Flora, parasites and/or a host of other things that affect their weight.

@Andrea Mendenhall , calories in calories out is thermodynamics. If you put fuel having X number of calories into a car, the car will travel X number of miles down the road. Calories in calories out works on trains, electric lightbulbs, and other non-living things.
However, humans are bags of hormones. Humans have chemical receptors, not calorie receptors. Humans operate on biochemistry, not thermodynamics.
Read the books "The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung, MD, and "The Salt Fix" by Dr. James DiNicolantonio, PharmD, and you will know why Jillian is wrong about how to lose weight.
Jillian is an expert on exercise. But, she is not an expert on biochemistry. If she studied biochemistry, she would know how to help people lose weight.

    • @kimberlycooper4170
      @kimberlycooper4170 4 года назад

@Andrea Mendenhall , Jeff Volek's 30 to 35 years of nutrition research shows that some people lose weight when they exercise and other people do not lose weight from exercise, but from changing what they eat. For this latter group, the saying is, "You can't outrun a bad diet."
Humans have similar DNA, but not identical DNA. That is what causes the difference in how people respond to exercise, to carbohydrates, and to other factors.

    • @dennisjr77

It's refreshing to see a person stand up for what they believe.
It's like the empirical & his new clothes. Most people know that it's unhealthy to be over weight
But because of society expectations putting feelings over facts. If a person speaks the truth instead of the political correct lies They are attached in an attempt to cancel them, or at worse, sue. Often this leads to the person making a public apologize for speaking their minds. Freedom of speech is in grave danger. Thank you Jillian Michaels for your bravery, & standing up for the truth in a world of lies.

"Science doesn't care about feelings". And also: your body doesn't count or calculate calories. The problem with this notion is that you can even accurately count calories by looking it up on the internet or trusting what the back of a package says. Not every apple, piece of meat etc contains the same amount of calories. Nor could you actually calculate how many calories you burn. Jillian never mentions that WHAT you eat is more important than how much you eat. You can eat a Twinkie and diet Coke and only be consuming so many calories. She needs to talk about how things affect insulin, leptin and your other hormones. Look up Dr. Ken Berry or Dr. David Fung. They actually are "experts" when it comes to health. Not everyone can just eat less and look like Jillian...

I like her alot. She stands for what she believes..I tried her diet and it did not work for me. Not for my body type. I have been in a keto diet for 3 years and that worked for me. Low sugar levels, no cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure perfect and 45 pounds lighter. I did it with doctors and nutritionists and blood tests every 2 months. My diet is Keto below 2000 calories a day. No processed foods, moderate protein and 35 minutes hard exercise a day. So at the end the main difference with her diet is that for my body type I cant handle carbs very well. Even if they are below the calories that I am supposed to eat to lose weight. You need to find the right balance for your body type. We are different. All of us.

The Problem with everyone commenting about Jillian being right is this. She is biased. She is focusing on the link between obesity and chronic disease ONLY. However, last that I heard poor lifestyle regardless of weight causes bad health outcomes. Shouldn’t a “Health Guru “ focus on healthy habits regardless of a person’s size? Skinny people using vomiting/bulimia to stay thin, or appetite suppressants to cut food desires, unhealthy fasting or yo-yo dieting all are bad for the heart and causes future health issues. Jillian literally shamed Lizzo and covered it up with the fake “I’m concerned about your health talk”. Jillian should have talked about healthy habits and how she hopes that anyone and everyone indulge in the best lifestyle habits to keep them healthy.

I agree with Jillian. I’m overweight and it isn’t healthy. I dress well and look put together. Losing weight for appearance isn’t necessary and no one should hide away . Losing weight for HEALTH is a must. It’s a work in progress for me but I acknowledge it and the fact I do need to lose weight for health. I don’t fool myself.

    • @coreysuffield

Except it is like 90% eating less and 10% burning calories.
Exercise can only burn a small amount of calories compared to the total amount the body needs in a day
Exercise should not be sold as a weightloss strategy, only as a way to improve fitness/health only after weightloss has been achieved through a corrected/reduced diet to prevent other possible injuries

I mean technically Lizzo is brave for showing her body off, in a sense. It's not healthy and most people hide their body when they're up to Lizzo's body type but she's loud & proud about it. Lizzo is almost brave & it's somewhat admirable but all of it is misplaced.

I know some people would say I cheated. I had gastric bypass surgery about 10 years ago. I went from 275 down to 150. It is not a magic pill. Most people are not like me. I have kept it all off. I eat smaller meals throughout the day. I eat way different. Most of it is homemade and doesn't come from a box. And you have to move. I enjoy walking so that is what I do. I also do arts and crafts, it keeps you busy doing something else. My physical health improved totally. Except with the surgery, your body often becomes anemic.
