I'm pretty early on my journey through the art of film and I've watched hundreds of movies since this video... so my list has very much changed, and so has my perspective on what makes a good movie. I will hopefully upload an updated list sometime this year.
These are my top 50 favorite films as of now. It's hard for me to rate every single movie into a perfect ordered list so it's ranked very loosely, if I have a movie ranked above another it probably doesn't mean I think it's better. I'm not at all claiming for these to be the best films of all time
(Even though I do consider a lot of these films some of the best)
-Let me know your guys' favorite films in the comments, I'd love any recommendations.
Music:
Moby - God moving over the face of the waters
Beethoven - Symphony No.7 in A major op.92 - II, Allegretto
UPDATED LIST IS NOW OUT!

Great to see Memento so high up, definitely Nolan's best film
ayy ty finally someone agrees with me.
Memento is very underated. However I think The Prestige might be slightly better. Great films both of them
imo his best is the dark knight followed by dunkirk
Dark knight and inception
@@JoaoPedro-iq9to inception is a terrible film, sorry bro.
Maybe try a little Andrei Tarkovsky, Lars Von Trier, Gaspar Noe, Ingmar Bergman, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, Bob Fosse, Harmony Korine? Just off the top of my head.
Thankyou for the suggestions, will check them all out.

ty so much, I'd consider it in my top 50 or at least top 100! there are several films almost put it to this video that I either couldn't fit (so they go into top 100-200) or I just forgot to add.
Personally, Seven Samurai just seemed to stick with me more, although Rashomon is a masterpiece as well.

6. Terminator
7. Gattaca
8. Flash Gordon
9. Columbus
10. Dead Poets Society
Before sunrise and Heat :D
Not a bad list but too many newer films! The older ones from many years ago are somewhat better in many ways!
I agree with you in most ways that older film was better. I've recently been watching some older ones, I'd never got around to it since I was born early 2000's, So as I grew up I didn't get to watch much classics
@@Tangent6991 You need to research the real great films from 1939 through 1975, that was the greatest era for motion pictures! The newer films aren't really all that good, the actors and actresses now don't perform like the great ones from the past(except for a few), and the new computer generated special effects really are too fake and not convincing enough! Also the great Directors from years ago really put together a film worth seeing more so then now a days!
How did you make the video? what software did you use?
I just made the video with capcut on my laptop, I downloaded HD quality clips from youtube.

Nice list, but it’s a shame there’s only three non-American films. I’d really encourage you to expand beyond Hollywood, there are so many amazing films!
Thankyou, and yes I'm early in my adventure through film and there is so much more to watch. Hollywood movies have been the most accessible for me, most non American content I've seen are only Anime. A lot of these movies have just been my favorites since I was young so that's why most of them are Hollywood movies. I'm starting to watch a lot more non-american films now though, they're great.
Always be careful watching movies in languages you don’t understand from cultures you’re not familiar with. I’m not American and my mother language is not the English language, when I watch movies with foreign friends (especially in the Anglophone sphere) I’m so surprise to see how many things they misunderstood/missed watching a movie anthropologically distant from them. That’s not great because it also induces the infamous Dunning Kruger effect. Not a bad habit to stick just with movies made in languages you speak imo

No Wes Anderson?
Not even Royal Tenenbaums? Grand Budapest?
When making this list I had only seen Moonrise Kingdom, which was good but not in my top 50. I've now seen Grand Budapest which would DEFINETLY be on my top 50 now. He's one of the directors that I had not gotten around to watching, somehow.
Godfather on 33 - really?
Godfather didn't stick with me as much as some other films on this list, although after a couple years since watching it, I watched it again and I gotta say both Godfather 1 and 2 are amazing. definitely higher up on my list, I also enjoyed part 2 a lot more.
DE NIRO 😍😍
Gotta love him
donnie darko would not make it to my 10.000 fovorite movies hhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Well, that's your opinion 😃
ART IS SUBJECTIVE!... 🙌
Kind of sad all of this lists are full of the same movies from the United States, and people think this is all that cinema can do, in your list only like 5 movies could be considered in the 150 best movies of all time, all the others are pretty regular
Art and film is often subjective, and well these are my favorites, not a list of what I think is the best. Although my list has very much changed since this video, as it was made months earlier before being posted. I've been watching a lot more movies that aren't American or Hollywood, but those have usually been the most accessible for me to watch.
@@Tangent6991 You should start with real auteurs like Tarkovski or Bella Tarr, Mizoguchi, there is plenty great movies to pick from, judging by your list you don't know many (nearly nothing), you are at the start of it
@@AkilesVaestha I've watched a few Tarkovski films since this video, thankyou for all the suggestions, I'll try to get around to them
@@Tangent6991 You have a lot to watch, you're lucky
Blade runner 😂😂😂😂it’s so bad how tf it made top ten
Agree to disagree I guess? Blade Runner is a very critically acclaimed movie... but I understand it's not for everyone, or are you just rage baiting lol.
@@Tangent6991some of your movies on there are great but the rankings are just horrid. Blade Runner 2047 is a down step of the overrated Blade Runner, I’m just curious how tf it made top 10😂😂
@@celinechen168 Well for one thing, this is an outdated list, like 2 years outdated actually... and another thing, there's this thing called an opinion? and there is also this thing called subjectivity, I encourage you to look those words up, oh and narcissism too while you're at it, because you're clearly full of it. If you don't like the movies I like then I'm not sure why you're commenting on here.
