@@ignacy7670 This makes me wish IMDb rankings, Tomatometers and stuff like that didn't exist if that would mean great movies wouldn't lose their credibility to some people as indicator of basic taste. I've seen many people who get lots of praises for supposedly having a good taste but when I follow up on their own list by talking about parts of their favorite movie with them, it almost feels like they watched the movie with their eyes closed. Of course, this isn't always the case and the opposite is also true, but the point I'm making here is that good or bad taste cannot be judged by someone's picks, it was never so black and white, but rather what they have to say about their picks. It can be something very personal, technical, personally inspiring or even something highly professional, just anything that helps me learn more about the person and why they picked this movie/TV show/video game as their favorite. If I had to call someone out for actually basic taste, it would be someone who picks critically acclaimed or movies or good (coincidentally) movies they've heard of from someone, maybe even watched them for a while and put them on their list because "Come on, they're great movies right? If I like these, it means I like good movies. Looking at the ratings, everyone should agree with me". All this but in the end, they have nothing to say about them. Which is not even close to what your comment implies, which is a generalization. The obvious reply to this would be the first one - People are different. This is a video with a genuine title serving its full purpose, since it's obvious 50 movies can't be explained in depth in 3 minutes. And when you choose to watch a video of someone expressing themselves wholeheartedly through their choice of movies, it's really not worth it to go "How isn't X in this list?" or "What a basic/shit taste", since you probably haven't even talked with the person who made this list. On that note, it was an immature move from the OP, and quite frankly a stupid response from you.

People are different.
not everyone's that basic
The Godfather HAS to be there.
@@ritam8767 not everyone loves the Godfather. I appreciate and can admit it’s a great movie, but I don’t personally love it and it wouldn’t make my top 50.
