  • So, I am finally done my onboard air system that I tinkered away at for way too long! It works great though, and was worth the effort. Not too difficult, and was a lot of fun. Thanks to Power Addicts-Fix Jeeps.com for tons of great guidance with your videos, much appreciated! Please like and subscribe and feel free to ask questions, don't be too hard on me though!

    I did this on my yj years ago. I installed an old Ford hi idle switch. This really helps. I set the hi idle at 1100 rpms. Before I did hi idle solenoid, used the fast idle cam on the carb. Can't do that with fuel injection. I also put an recirculating oil system in-line using a moisture trap with a 1/4 turn valve. Works good, but have to be sure not to overheat the compressor.
    Your install looks really good, enjoy.

      I love the shirt, I subbed so hopefully your channel blows up and you can make Murch so I can buy one! I’m replacing the rear 1/2 frame on my 87YJ in the next few weeks! I think YJ deserve much more love than they get

    Nice jeep and a great video. One of my projects is an 88 and I have thought about adding onboard air but thought I would need to put the tank in the passenger compartment somewhere. I never thought there would be room in the engine bay. Good job.

      Thanks Daily, the 3 gallon tank really amazed me with the boost it gives on start up, or just a small fill. I will follow you and hopefully see your project air , if you get around to it ! Cheers

    Beautiful YJ my man. I loved your style, I’m in the same boat, got ours (it was my wife’s birthday present last year😉), an 89 YJ and have had to do a lot of basics, tranny right off the bat, new suspension, carb, radiator, electronic ignition, alternator. I am learning all things Jeep and Addicts and Bacon are my two go to channels, they are very good as you say. Have subbed and will watch your other stuff. I have a long way to go but that’s the fun of it. BTW, wife named her Penelope, cause she’s costing us a good penny!

    Hi, nice YJ, does the A/C compressor require lubrication when using it as an air compressor? I've seen videos of low rider's using a compressor like this and they packed the compressor with grease for lubrication, I also recall seeing someone using an inline oiler

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  2 года назад +1

      Hello, great question, the compressor needs to be drained of the stock oils, and there is one set screw that gets put in a 1/4 inch hole to block off where it normally bypasses. Then, you lubricate all the parts with normal automotive grease. Under normal use, the grease will be enough to lubricate it for years ( i have heard as many as 10). It was a fun, and rewarding process. The fellow I mention with the "Poweraddictsfixjeeps" channel, shows the process of the set screw and lubrication. He even installs a grease nipple to add lubricant periodically. Thanks for watching!

    I’m really digging those doors! Did you custom make them?

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  7 месяцев назад

      Actually they are a no name brand (amazon type purchase), that was just the tubes, and the fellow who owned the jeep before me put on the checker plating, and painted them black. Thanks for commenting !

    what type of AC compressor do you have in your jeep. did you put a oiler on it? is it a York compressor

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  Год назад

      Hello,,, it is a UAC CO 4702C A/C CompressorUAC off Amazon actually. I tore it down, drained the fluid, and put in the set screw that seperates the two chambers it has for normal ac function. Then, I greased all the parts with a gear grease. People have told me that they get around 3 to 4 years of heavy use just with grease. I am going to add a grease nipple so I can pump in a bit from time to time.

    Do you need to worry about lubricating the compressor?

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes actually. I should have drilled in a grease zirk to lubricate it, as many do. And probably still will, in a year or so, when I feel it needs lubrication. There is a couple videos here on youtube where they showed the grease zirk (nipple) install. Thanks for watching ! Maybe check out poweraddictsfixjeeps video on the same install.

    Do you have a link to the parts? Manifold? Valve that won’t let air back in to the compressor? The relay that keeps it at the right pressure?

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  2 года назад +1

      Ben, thanks for watching, and I appreciate the questions too. As I am still pretty much a rookie at making and posting the vids I am bad at putting up links to parts. I will see what I can find for you, it was all pretty much amazon stuff, even though I try to shop around town. Will try to get back to you asap

    • @DervFuel
      @DervFuel  2 года назад +1

      I added some descriptions for you, just copy and paste into amazon. When I tried to do it as a link, it didn't work, sorry. Have fun with your project !

      @@DervFuel thanks! We have a ‘93 Sahara that doesn’t have factory AC. Think we’re going to go this route now.
