Love it. Did a similar mod but used a relay to tie the air horn to the truck's factory horn. The relay requires one of the upfitter switches to be on for the air horn to sound. So when I'm on the highway, I keep that upfitter switch on so pressing the regular horn button on the steering well gets me the air horn. Just makes it easier. Nice job!!

Okay I watched this at least a dozen times. Ill tell you what I know but know i don't know it all. I have two Viair 444c compressors, they go through a water separator then my 1.5 gallon tank. I highly recommend the separator as my tank is always dry. Get an air regulator and dial down the PSI, the lower the PSI to the horn the longer the horn will last. Buy a new air hose now, or better yet make one using flexzilla 1/4 ID hose. Those yellow coil hoses crack in cold weather, ya know when....just when you need it. Finally your QWORK solenoid, will last about a year, I have a WOLO 846 horn(think fire engine)It doesn't come with a solenoid either. I'm using a HRS valve purchased on Amazon and i love it. Well good luck, I've enjoyed your video.

We have had a system from Viair mounted in our truck bed for a few years. It has completely eliminated our need for gas station compressed air. Awesome!

Have y'all had any issues with mounting your Viair system in the bed? I have a 2019 Silverado 1500 and I want to install a Viair system in my truck. I have been thinking about putting mine in my truck bed underneath my tonneau cover/camper shell. Any suggestions?

I mounted a Viair system. On thing I added was a water separator between the compressor and tank. That way you tank never sees moisture. I found it graves a good amount of water. I mounted it in the outboard on the frame. Good insurance.

Marc. We have had on board air and air bags in two different HD trucks now. Wouldn’t ever own a truck without. Still no air horn but the air is priceless either way. Additionally a rubber chair foot protector works as a great option to cover your quick connect hose connections when traveling. Various sizes and colors available at hardware stores or on Amazon and cheap lasting solution.

I noticed a brass fitting being used as a connection point for an air quick connect at the rear of the truck box. Be advised that if your truck is aluminum and you used a brass fitting or even a galvanized steel fitting, the aluminum will react and eventually degrade the point of connection. The dissimilar metals need to be isolated from direct contact.

Any concern those self tapping screw heads wearing a hole in your spare?
On mine, I put a couple of 1x3 sq tubing across the bottom of the frame, also at the spare. My dual viair pumps are mounted to the top of them, and a piece of sheet metal extends forward, so where your tank is on the side and won't completely drain, on mine the legs are under it, and the tank drain is truly in the bottom of the tank.

This is much better than the Super Bowl. I have a question why do you have stock shocks on that truck and how come they didn’t put a spray liner on a platinum ? I have a lariat it’s got spray liner on it from Ford.

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer 10 месяцев назад +1

Spray in bed liner is an option you can choose. It is not an automatic add, except for certain packages ( I think Black Appearance Package and maybe sport). I have ordered two trucks in the past handful of years and both I chose to not go the Ford liner route. Many reports of the Ford Liner peeling off. Better off with an aftermarket one such as Line X.

You might want to go with Bill Steen and your stabilizer I’ve been told to stick with stock or fox friend of mine that does front end here in Redding is the best in the state that’s what he recommends

That's Randy's truck. I should have included that in the intro.

With that horn approaching ‎145 dB, it is not legal for use on FL roads, along with many other states.

It's the same as a truck horn, which are all over the road. Not sure if the rules are different for commercial semi's. It's really not that loud, but it didn't replace the regular horn so discretion can be used. For us, it's more of a fun hello and goodbye toot.

    Mark,
Take a look at the catalytic converter shot at 20:02 minutes in. It looks like a saw cut.

Not keen on drilling holes in metal and not protecting the raw edge. I would have used all stainless mounting hardware and done something different than using self tappers. Otherwise great video.

While this system looks nice, an 18V digital inflator is $50-100 and can be moved when necessary. That’s what I do; it’s a lot more economical.
