By the way my blood relatives are from calumet. Alot of the copper mines were still operating in the mid 50s..my dad and my grandfather and myself when I was a little boy would visit the mines. I'll never forget seeing the machinery and seeing those guys come up from the mine. Great times great memories 😊

Incredible, propane fridge , wood window protections slid into the walls of the cabin . Sauna in the winter you rolled in snow after sweating up. Oofta !

What a beautiful part of the country. BTW, I have Russ' Instant Pot cookbook. I've had crockpots for years, but my Instant Pot mini is my first Instant Pot, and it's the perfect size for a single person. I tried it out a few days ago and slow cooked a beef stew. It calculated the cooking time and it came out perfectly. Haven't tried the pressure cooking yet. I've never used a pressure cooker in my life, and need to watch a few videos on how to do it before I try it. But I must say the slow cooker feature worked better than expected, and I'm looking forward to trying some of Russ' recipes.

@@IEchuckie they were at one time. Back when I was a kid there was always some kid at show and tell who would tell the class about the lid coming off Mom's pressure cooker and dinner ending up in the ceiling. That's my mother never allowed one in her house. They're a lot safer now.

28:40 You missed an excellent store stop, Johnson's Store, many many sundries and utilities PLUS a superior smoked fish selection REPEAT a monstrous smoked fish selection. You didn't seem to need it, but other campsters- particularly the ones from Herbster- might find it useful. PLUS did I mention a superb smoked fish selection?
34:17 You should have talked to the guy on the OTR, he told us an interesting story- he'd taken a week off from the campground, up wallyeyeing on the Lake Of The Woods, nice sunny day, his wife calls him to let him know that the campground was getting 75 mph winds off of the Lake.
38:12 Green bldg on the right, another excellent smoked fish place, try the Whitefish livers.
Thanks, especially for 56:20, will camp there next time we're up there.

Lake Superior is like a fresh water sea. Lots of interesting facts about Lake superior. Deepest point is 1332 ft, largest lake in the world by surface volume, big storms can create waves up to 25 ft, Lake Superior can have rougher waters than the oceans and the lake rarely freezes over entirely because of how deep it is. Lake Superior is 600 ft above sea level and water only drops 23 ft to Lake Huron.

I paused the video where you were showing the crane. It reminded me of a time when in 1978 when I worked on the water, around the Annapolis Maryland area. My friends operated a marine construction operation. They had a huge crane with a steel spud that had square holes for hands and feet and I would climb up to the top and hook the cap over the pole and a 2000 lb hammer operated by the crane would drive the pole into the bay bottom. Thank you again for the ride along, as I don't drive anymore. I very much enjoy your videos.

It was one of the worst trips of my life, unending twisty road, black flies, nothing to see except the lake, etc. I hope the sights are better on the U.S. side of the Lake.(SIGH !). The western part of North America is funnier to visit, really. RICHARD
