After watching one of your videos doing this I have done it on every project. As I haven’t been crocheting for very long this has solved my problem of missing stitches at the end of rows and I don’t get my work ending up being a triangle 😅😘
This is such a useful tip! I have been doing this ever since I saw you explain it in one of your videos some time ago and it has made such an enormous difference to my edges. An added bonus is that I also find it much easier to get into the last stitch at the end of a row instead of sometimes struggling to get into the chain 3 from the previous row. I highly recommend everyone to give it a go - you will never look back!! Thanks so much Rebekah. ❤
This is how I learned to crochet I never understood why people chained at the end but did it cause that's what the patterns would say now I know I can go back to how I learned from the beginning 😊
In some patterns it will tell you to chain 1, 2 or 3 and not count as a stitch, if I use your tip would I count that as my first stitch or as the uncounted chain? ♥I agree your work is lovely and very neat, enjoy your tutorials immensely ♥🧶
@@BlossomCrochet if that counts as stitch one, to keep the count accurate should we skip the last stitch on the row, wh would have been originally the skipped chain from the last row? I've been crocheting for eons and never before saw a "chain 2" (does not count as a stitch) at the beginning of a row. The instructions, being unclear, caused a mess, and I had to rewrite the pattern.
Rebekah, I remember this tip from another video a while ago and I've been using it ever since. It's brilliant! Thank you for also showing that it can be used for a half-treble and that, if we continue, we can also substitute doubles trebles, etc. Very much appreciated :) You are my number one youtube channel for crochet, I love your patient teaching style and your gentle voice. Makes me feel like I could ask any question, that might seem silly to an experienced crocheter, and you would try and answer it with kindness. Thank you.
I only started crochet again, after a 30 year hiatus. I saw you doing this row start on one the first videos I watched and I’ve been using it ever since. It makes for such a nice start to the row! Thanks for making my re-entry back into crochet so good. ❤
I’ve seen you do that before but couldn’t really follow howto do it. So, thank you for doing this tutorial! What a neat edge your work always has. Now perhaps mine will also!
Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for this very useful tip. I've seen you doing this before, but in this video you have very well explained how to go up according to different stitches - eg: single, double and double treble. Thank you soooo much. Love your work. I'm also, kind of, a 'perfectionist' - and like my work to be neat! God Bless.
This is so helpful. I love how straight it makes the edges without any gaps. I have saved this to my favorites and will be using it often. Thank you Rebecca . Liz B

I stopped using the chain method early in my crochet journey. I thought I had made up the way I was working into the first stitch because I hadn’t seen it anywhere that I could remember. I always felt like I was going against the crochet gods because everyone used the chain method. I didn’t like the way it looked and I would miss that stitch and have to constantly count back. Thanks for the awesome video
I just used this on the 12 pointed star blanket I food from your video! I learned this from you early on when I was teaching myself to crochet and have been doing it ever since
@@BlossomCrochet this is the only thing I've really not liked about crocheting. I'm so happy I was on this morning to see this pop up. An I was not that for into my project so I'm starting over now. Thank you.

aw thank you Pamela! 🌸
Great tip. Thank you for sharing. 💜🙏🏻
If you are adding a border how difficult is it to find that stitch to crochet into? Or, should you do a chain 3 if a border is going on?
It’s still super easy to add a border, you can just work two stitches into the side of each ‘treble height’ stitch ☺️
Excellent!!!! Thanks for all you do. You are an excellent teacher and your projects are always beautiful. Take care. Mary
Thank you for this tip. I appreciate it.

@@BlossomCrochet Your very welcome. I love that you share so much knowledge with us.
Awesome 😎
Thank you ☺️
Does this work on granny squares when you turn the work to keep it flat x
So this is done exactly the same for a half-treble as for a treble? I'm brand new but that doesn't seem logical. Aren't they different heights? Thanks
How do you make a US double crochet as the first stitch of a chain? Do you skip 2 chains ?
I made a blanket using the blanket stitch that is
Narrower at one end because I always get confused on where to put the last stitch. Im going to try to figure out a way to incorporate your method into this. Please, is this possible? Last stitch on row is singke crochet, then the pattern calls for chain two, then two doubles in that first stitch. Would I turn and just do this instead?
Great video 👍👍
Thank you ☺️
What do you suggest if the pattern calls for the first stitch to be placed there instead?
This method counts as your first stitch as well so you’ll do whatever ‘height’ of stitch the pattern falls for ☺️🌸
👍
Thanks Rachel! 🌸
Hello 💯☺️
🥰🧶😍👏👏👏❤️😘👍
I tried this and no gaps is nice. But the edges still weren't straight. I still had to put a border
THANKS I HATE THE HOLES AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH ROW.
