This series really helped me. It's hard enough to learn how to fly and drop bombs without crashing... I just needed someone to tell me what the targets actually looked like and where to find them. Too many videos on this server go into the really fine detail on the different flight characteristics of different planes. Lol. Yeah great help for those of us wandering aimlessly along the front. These videos covering basic gameplay really help...
Thanks for this! A lot of the tutorials and guides out there seem to already expect you to know a few things. I appreciate the "for dummies" guide for SRS! Cheers! 👍
Such a helpful video. So many videos assume the viewer has so much prior information, whether it be about DCS or general flight knowledge. Speaking to the audience as though they are starting from 0 is so helpful. If the audience knows something already, they can just skip ahead. But over informing is always better than under informing. Your videos are invaluable, thank you!
Fighter pilots get the glory, air-to-mud wins games. Also true on most IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles multiplayer servers. The difficulty of getting CAP support has always puzzled me, seemingly worse in IL-2 than DCS, to be sure. The ground attackers are magnets for opposing fighters and also a distraction. A lot of useful information in this video.
i downloaded SRS for like a month, and im too fucking shy to even dare say something in any server lmao, i just cant use it, the voices win in my head.
Ahhh, sorry to hear that. On the bright side, you can still listen to SRS and type responses in the team chat. Even just sitting listening to SRS can be a big help
@@Dr_Jebusyeah, i might see when i get Syria and start playing Enemiga, rn i cant because i m fucking broke, but yeah, a thing of mine, idk why i just cant speak to people on online places, even on discord lmao. Altough ingame chat works for me lol, thanks for the tip!
If you're worried about saying the "wrong thing", use plain English. Keep it short and to the point. Learning brevity and codewords comes with practice. Noone should get mad at you for making a mistake, we were all there once
ngl, learning curve of my recent DCS exp has been tough. I'm trying helis in ECW and I have no idea of whats happening. I dont know how to navigate compared to Il2, which has a lot of landmarks. Trying to find enemies and AA is a real challenge. I was just being shot at this weekend and couldn't tell from where. And then theres the comm issue. I don't usually use SRS, but now there is in game radio? They should put a little bit of effort in tutorials or at least a pdf guide would be much appreciated lol cheers for the video m8, amazing stuff
For navigation, remember on ECW will always display your location and bearing on the F10 map, so that helps a lot. For pdf guides, try searching for 'Chuck's guides'. Those are amazingly in depth, easy to use if long, and available for most modules. Stick with it though, the learning curve is huge but so is the payoff!
@@Dr_Jebus Thank you! I'm right now reading chucks guides like its the bible. And I realized that not knowing NADIR was a big problem. Lots of systems to learn. And thank you for the video, priceless source!!!
I've recently posted my settings in a community post, if you scroll down on my community tab to the first image, it's there (sorry, I can't seem to link it without reposting). Since 2.9 the biggest difference has been resolution. At 4K dot spotting is now faaaar better. At 1440 it's so-so. At 1080 it's a lot worse than pre-2.9. hopefully it will get fixed soon... 2.9 broke a lot of stuff
Normally, yes. For most planes SRS channel one and sometimes two is tied to the planes radios, so changing the plane radio will change those. But either way, whatever the SRS channels are showing is what SRS will transmit on. For most planes currently the defaults cover what you need, so you don't really need to touch the in-game radio at all
Only thing I can suggest is open the map before takeoff, work out your route and approx travel time, take note of defining features then head that way with visual flying rules. Keep an eye out for JTAC smoke or ground fire. Otherwise it's going to be hard without the F10 map
@Dr_Jebus , unfortunately as soon as I open my map I'm pretty much doomed for fps. I'm not sure but I've got 64bg ram coming. Hopefully, it will fix the map issue
@Dr_Jebus , I love dcs in VR. I'm a older fella just getting into VR and it's so much more immersive. Being able to look around the cockpit is so nice but I do get fatigued after a flight or two. I tried a eye tracker out for abit but the software never made it easy to use and it also made me nauseous have to tilt my head well trying to look at the screen, kinda awkward. I got my HOTAS on order and should hopefully be here soon, currently on xbox controller and rudder pedals 😀. I really wish the map did not cause issues when using VR. I'm terrified to press f10 and picking the mb-339 to not be overwhelmed might have been a poor choice as I have no radar like some other A/C where I could have possibly avoided f10. Hopefully they get a fix soon as it's a real downer. The other windows open like a overlay, I wish the map did that atleast temporary untill a fix happens. I'm really enjoying DCS, but quite a leaning curve, but I think that's what makes it so enjoyable.
Shift+Tab is the default to cycle the chat modes. Do that until a little window appears around the chat, then you can click and drag it to where you want. Same thing for SRS but the keybind is ctrl+shift+ECS to cycle it's modes
Only guide telling me how to do this on RUclips I swear. Great video.

Thank you for this. I want to fly the a4 in the heatblur/ECW server but I'm brand new and get super nervous about communication and performance.

Thank you for this. Looking forward to CAP on Enigma with Mig19
Very in depth, invaluable for new players to the server, great work 👍
Really nice series. Watched CAP, CAS, and Recon already. Cant wait for the Helo one.. Just starting in Enigma so this is incredibly helpful
Thanks! I was wondering about the cherubs call-out, figured it must be something smaller than 1 angel but similar :D
Many thanks!
Good stuff. Thanks!
Great video. My group is trying to get more into Enigma. Also, we love doing CAP. Ha
Really good guide

21:45 what are the other possible ways the EWR's line of sight be obscured apart from flying in valleys?
Blocked by anything like buildings, trees etc between the radar and plane. And flying low enough can obscure it.
Curvature of the earth unless you're a flat earther. Good video, thank you!
nice. thx m8
